lonewolfknight Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 GBU-54's are not aligning in the A-10Cii. No amount of time brings them to RDY status. They are stuck at ALN UNS and cannot be dropped. No trac. Confirmed with multiple players 1 1
Tyrant07 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Since the 2.9 update the JDAMS in the A-10C 2 do not align after a cold start. They constantly say ALN UNS in the DSMS. I have tried all the different alignments and re-loading the DSMS before and after alignments. Nothing seems to fix this. Edited October 20, 2023 by Tyrant07 1
Stuka Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 reported 3 Windows 11 | i9 12900KF | 64GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | TM MFDs + Lilliput 8" | TIR5 Pro
Pyrocumulous Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Confirmed that this occurs with GBU-38, GBU-54, GBU-31 on cold start only. CBU-103 and CBU-105 are not affected, which makes sense as they are not GPS-reliant. Track attached. Sn8ke Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I guess I'm bringing GBU-12s on my missions. Are they unusable? Asus Prime Gaming Wifi7 // Intel 14900K @5.5GHz // 64Gb DDR5 6000MHz // 3090 RTX // 4TB Samsung NVME M.2

Unless you hot start the mission in DCS 2.9.0.46801 Open Beta, you'll be flying with un-aligned very expensive paper weights. Get good with non-GPS weapons or switch back to DCS 2.8.8.43704 Open Beta. Iron Sights Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Yeah, I noted this one too. But it works if it’s hot started, strange.

I haven't tested this yet, but GBU-12s are laser guided and don't require any kind of INS alignment (that I'm aware of), much less GPS. They should be extremely adequate until the JDAMs are fixed.
=BoB= David Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Hello, Ive noticed JDAMs can't be aligned on A-10, see track. Thanks a-10_jdam_bug.trk
Stuka Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Same as for the A-10C II. Reported already: Windows 11 | i9 12900KF | 64GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | TM MFDs + Lilliput 8" | TIR5 Pro

You are correct, as far as the jet is concerned a GBU-12 is a dumb bomb. the only interaction the jet has with the bomb is a few clamps in the MAU hold onto a pair of rings, which in turn pulls the pins which release the fins and power up the seeker as the weapon falls away from the jet. There is never any data passed between the aircraft and the bomb, and the bomb doesn't know or care where it is in time or space. after it is released and the computer powers up, it just moves the fins to keep the laser spot in the center of its field of view and does that all the way until impact. Its actually a very stupid "smart weapon". 1

Radboy16 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Just want to plus one this haha, I noticed this on the hoggit training server last night when I got to the range, thought I did something wrong with my INS alignment. Good to know it wasn't just me. Thought I knew how to use selective jettison to get rid of the expensive paperweights, but instead wound up dropping everything before I even hit my first target, oops....
Bertcoin Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Fixed. Back to the old bug of the bombs can fall asleep (turn white on DSMS), and a violent airframe maneuver (like an aileron roll) will wake them up (turn green).
Pyrocumulous Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Fixed in 2.9.0.47168 Open Beta Warthog HOTAS, VMAX Prime Throttle, TPR pedals, Kensington Slimblade Pro, Pimax Crystal, RTX 4090 FE, Asus ProArt X670E-Creator, Ryzen 7950X3D, 64gb DDR5.
Clark Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) "Fixed in 2.9.0.47168 Open Beta" Not for me. At least not in Steam MT VR. GBU-31 & -38 keep bouncing between green "Ready" and white "ALN RDY". Edit: the white/green is just the Master Arm status. Not part of the bug. Edited November 12, 2023 by Clark
RaisedByWolves Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I’d suggest a repair. It’s been working in the most recent OB version, MT and normal.
Clark Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Still happening after Steam install file verification of .47168 Open Beta. Only happens if starting the mission on the ramp or runway. Starting airborne is fine. 9-19 minutes after engine start -38's trip and show "ALN RDY" whatever that means.
Clark Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Oh, apparently it's because I fly "too smooth". A wing waggle re-aligns them. I'm changing my callsign to "Smoothie" 1
RaisedByWolves Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 You try doing some turns before getting into release position?
Clark Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I was actually trying to just be really efficient turning into the target about 8nm out. A high altitude bomb run isn't that exciting.
