So I recently got a new collective after selling off my PFT Puma a few years ago when started DCS, the PUMA did not fit in with my rig anymore. So of course I am now an a helicopter kick in a big way. I get a hold of the OH-6A & the Blackhawk. And just like that these 2 are my faves. Thank you for doing a mind blowing job on this bird. It is a challenge to fly but damn it's fun & looks amazing! A big thank you!!

If they want to access the SDK they need to apply for a 3rd Party status, we cannot give away the SDK, sorry.

I mean, technically you can, it's your SDK, you could make it opensource if you wanted to (unless part of it is using licensed closed source stuff I guess, or something similar).

But of course you don't want to, which is entirely understandable. 🙂

I had a little lol at that, thanks 🙂 It'd be great to see, but not whilst the business model is flogging modules...

I have been flying the Loach all over the 3AD area, Gelnhausen, Friedberg, Butzbach, Kirch Gons....some real fun.  The towns don't look right (generic towns) but the roads are pretty well done.  The CW map was made for helicopters!

Il-2:1946 is still selling copies entirely on the back of an exceptional modding effort lasting decades - it's astonishing what that community achieved even without significant official support. If ED were able to charge for DCS World, they could do the same, rather than rushing yet another half-baked waste of hangar space out of the door to try to maintain a revenue stream...

IL-2: 1946 is really not a reasonable example, 1) As far as I know, the team behind 1946 is not supporting and making new content for this game, it's basically an abandoned game that people are supporting on their own, such as Falcon 4. 2) We are not just talking DCS, but we have other professional usages of our SDK and IP that need to be protected.

To be fair to both of you, the modding world was opened by some software cracking back in 2008-2009. I know because I was part of the team that made the Solomon Islands map that was eventually included in the game officially. Official game support was delegated to a team of dedicated individuals called Team Daidalos. Their last official patch was released in 2022. It may very well be abandoned now, but it sure as hell had a long life for a game that came out 24 years ago.

Radio preset isue.

If you want to fix this annoying error, then replace the line in the file

(Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft\OH-6A\Cockpit\Scripts\Radios\anarc_51.lua) as shown below or replace the entire file

If anyone has been wondering why the blue instrument-lights are always turned on at daylight when starting up - there is a solution.

the oh6 coding has a daylight recognition - but there is a little bug which leads to having the 4 light-knobs always on.

i have a fix in ...Mods\aircraft\OH-6A\Cockpit\Scripts\Systems\light_interface.lua for lines 110-113:
(commented out is the original)

mapping_unsigned_to_signed.png

now the daylight recognition works and turns the knobs to 0 at daylight times.
(this gives a little FPS gain too because the ca. 20 lights are not needlessly rendered anymore)

for everyone wanting the fix right now - drop the zip-content into your Mods folder

Here's a blast from the past haha. Way back in 2005 I used to work on the mod team of EoD which added a lot of content to EA/Dice game Battlefield Vietnam. This is where I first fell in love with flying the Little Loach around, it was cool cuz if you survived the crash you would have to fight your way out of the jungle with your trusty CAR 15.......with VC everywhere!

I just got this old game up and running the other day. Could you imagine having a game like this with the epic detail of DCS and todays first person shooters. You would never see me again I'd be locked in my computer room LOL

Also here's a cool picture. Just hanging out with the dude in the radio hooch listing to some Hendrix, watching the Loach get reloaded. Hats off to you Eightball, for all the detail you put into the radio hooch!

Still can't get over the fact that the MH-6 is cancelled. It's just a tragedy 😞

Either way, the trusty old OH-6 is still providing us with plenty of entertainment. Made a little video with it on the Cold War Germany map on one of the FRG's Weapons Ranges.

Could always learn to model and code to knock one up yourself...

Has anyone noticed an issue with the throttle not working correctly since the last (back in April) DCS (2.9.15.9599) update?

PC specs:

Intel Core i7-13700K [Raptor Lake 3.4GHz Sixteen-Core LGA 1700] (stock clock)/64.0 GB RAM/RTX 3080 GPU (stock clock)/Windows 10 Home/Multiple M.2 SSD Drives/T.Flight HOTAS X/HP Reverb G2

Throttle seems fine to me

Been flying it around a lot and having a blast!

I know this is random but because I got BFV to work I figured I would see if BF2 would work and it did! Did a lot or modding for EoD when they ported everything from BFV to BF2

BF2 even made an editor to help tweak and import stuff. This was back in like 2006-2007

EoD Loach in editor:

Also Huey dustoff: I modeled the soldiers in the back to look wounded and demoralized:

Lol, this isn't even the BF2 EoD, old BF1942 EoD, blast from the past is right.

Edit, NVM, I can't read, it's BFV, but pretty sure there was a BF1942 EoD, right? BFV and 1942 look similar
