Mi-8 upgrade plans?

Hi rotary pilots!

Is there any plan to get the Mi-8 a level up in terms of texture and new features?
It has one of the best (if not the best) helicopter FM out there but it's now aging a bit compared to new ones and it might be appropriate to have what it deserves.
It still rocks but I think it should be upgraded considering what we are getting in terms of quality at the moment (see Apache and Kiowa).

I was out in mine yesterday and regularly fly it.

I don’t remember reading any plans about it getting an overhaul.

Having said that, ED did suggest a couple of years ago that there was a need to redo pretty much everything in game to prepare them for Vulkan.

My assumption is that this is one of the reasons as to why some of the older aircraft have been given a good going over, eg interiors for the Spitfire, updates to A10 and Ka50.  If that is correct (which it might not be, it’s just me speculating), that would mean that the Mi8 would need to be on a roadmap to be updated at some point.

Personally I don’t worry about it.  It’s still ace to fly and if we get an upgrade, then great.

its hardly as though ED don’t have enough on their plate already to deal with.

I almost prefer that they leave it untouched, it’s perfect as is!

Should be there is a lot that Mi-8 had and its not in game, like nose gun, inboard tanks, bomb aiming tube, .... there should be an overhaul of some wrong things, like there is 50seconds startup of TV-3-117 this is wrong, TV-3 has limit of 50sec to startup but normally is on idle around 30secs, ETC....

I don't think they have. Huey and this are pretty much outdated.

I think modules from Belsimtek are unlikely to have any improvements, graphical or otherwise. Yes, they are supported, but I wouldn't bet on a development investment.

That would be nice, but with ED core code, you can never be sure it won't break something else (latest slingload bug comes to mind), so it's best to not touch anything

I think you have to get to the core code. Otherwise slingloading will always be broken. That wouldn't be so nice. I also hope that Mi-8 and Huey will benefit a little from the new logistics and cargo system of the CH-47.

If there were to be a graphics update at some point, that would be good. ED also wants to sell the modules for as long as possible. That will be difficult if the parts look old-fashioned.

Any new gimmick for CSAR is also eagerly awaited by me.

Why? Belsimtek is to all intents ED and their modules sit in the ED section of the forum. The F5 and F86 and Mig15 are Belsimtek and have received makeovers for thier inclusion in FC3. 

I think as long as ED continue to push out the Hip and Huey at $50.00 we should hope for something more than just a bit of generic support (though hoping for and getting are two different things).

Id be quite happy with a paid for upgrade like the BS3. Ive more than had my money's worth out of the original which continues to be my go to  even today.

Maybe bs3 didn’t bring the income which they had hoped. So updating modules are not their priority anymore. Helicopter community would be very happy if their 10+ years old choppers get facelifts or even new features. 
I decided not to buy ch47 because its fate will be the same eventually

I think you are not wrong, I will buy all choppers. Because that is what I do. 
Every chopper in this franchise or brand or what ever we call it got its special niche of fun. I have no doubt Chinook will have its place. 
But for me, this new map tech , lack off omph in my old pc and he space force me to stop buying anything else. I think ED should consider a more stable install, and upgrade of what is. So resent mishaps and chaotic tendencies can stop, and one can bring trust back to the community

I would pay for a refresh for sure. Really it only needs the graphics updated since the FM is amazing as is and the sounds were just done. Give it the same logistics treatment as whatever the chinook is getting and shes good to go for another ten years.

I forgot to say that. It is still my favorite chopper. I would like graphical upgrade. But also a more modern version. In short I want two

I'm waiting for American (CIA) crew...and come to that, multiple multiple countries used this helo. So aside from CIA etc, maybe other nationalities/pilot models/uniforms as well.

I would want the weather/terrain radar. Bomb sight would be fun. More weapons and mines even.

Would be nice to get a modern version for sure, then you could have the steamgauge version to fly against huey for 70s/80s warfare and a glass cockpit modernized version to fly against the new 47F. We can dream I guess.

Then again if we're already dreaming, we may as well go full send and dream of a Mi-26 module.
