Yep.  I too am seeing huge performance differences.  I have a pretty beefy system too and the multi-thread does not help either.  

2020 Rig

Chasse: bequiet! Darkbase 700

MBoard: Asus b550-F Gaming

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900XT

DIMM: HyperZ 3200 64 GB (16x4)

GPU: Asus Strix 2070 - 8GB

Storage: 2x Samsung EVO 1TB m.2 (1 dedicated for DCS)

OS: Windows 10

So here is the log this issue happens with both SP and Sever. It also happens with ST and MT. The file dcs.log is for version 2.9.6 with the issue and dcs 2.9.5 log is the log for 2.9.5. I also noticed that with 2.9.6 when ever i quit to desktop the game never closes and i have to go in the task manager to actually close the game. Below are two images. The first one is 2.9.6 and the second one is 2.9.5. Its the same mission no scripts, no triggers, no mods, and look at the difference.

Yes, yes yes... terrible fps drop in Syria. I've played the 6 first missions from the Weasel Campaign before the hotfix. It works fine (60 fps), and now, after the hotfix, it's just unplayable.

experiencing also a noticeable loss of performance since last hotfix (2.9.6.58056).

Disabling Tacview, reducing mouse polling rate to 500dpi as suggested & ALT+tab once in a while restores some of the performance loss but still not the same level as pre-patch

Here is a complete flight. And after 40 min,: fps drop to 12 and even 0!. Mission became unplayable :

As the title states, single player for me has become unplayable after this past update. Also I have to launch single player and back out and then launch multiplayer otherwise my game crashes. But when I try to play single player I have the most awful stuttering/pauses and it does it every few seconds and lasts for a couple seconds making it entirely unplayable, but after backing out and going into multiplayer my game works just fine. I just cannot get singleplayer to work.

I have bad stuttering too, it freezes and crashes to desktop and I have it in both MP as well as SP.

The update before the last started it and the last one hasn’t fixed it for me.

I also have MASSIVE performance problems since the update.

I cant even play single player campaigns anymore, because the stutters are so bad!

Specially when many AI units are present like in the f-16 red flag campaign. I have like 5 FPS at the starting arfield.

I also get constant CTDs when many explosions happen in a confined space.

 

But this is not only in SP. Out own MP server is not functional anymore with AI units are active.

Yeah, turning off all mods and doing a cleanup & repair didn't help either. Something is off.

 

For a couple months I've had to launch single player to not crash multi-player but my game was always stable after doing that but these past couple weeks I can't play single player or any of the campaigns at all. Multi-player lags like hell for 5 minutes but usually stabilizes.

Yep. quite a few others have been encountering this. Was really hoping for a fix in today's new update, but it's not been fixed yet. I am also getting the freeze and CTD from many explosions happening in a confined space (typically when an explosion hits multiple buildings) that IceyJones mentioned.

This started for me 3 updates ago. What I found by running Windows Resource Monitor. The game was now using up all of my 32gigs of Ram and having to cash out to the M.2 drive. After adding another 32Gigs of ram the stuttering and frame rate drops stopped. The Monitor showed that in some areas the game is now using 42Gigs of Ram. I would suggest you run the Resource Monitor with the game and see if this is happening to you also.

They have a real problem with this and it will only get worse.

So I just did a cleanup and repair after getting rid of all my mods and that DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. I'd really like to play the campaigns I paid for but it's impossible like this. I got a video recording but I couldn't get a track file or crash log since the game isn't crashing, and I couldn't access the menu via pressing escape and had to force close the game instead resulting in no track file.

 

I did at one point have the same issue in multiplayer after the update where we got the new launcher and changing my mouse polling rate fixed that but it has had zero effect in single player regardless of what I set it to.

 

I don't know what to do here I'm at a total loss.

What log am I supposed to get from where? Because it's not crashing my game just making it unplayable in single player. I added a clip and track file after doing a cleanup/repair and all vanilla (no mods) with no improvement.

you all use OpenBeta? Ahh i forgot, OpenBeta was for testing and optimmizing over feedback from the Customer....... now OpenBeta is gone, and now it is done in the one remaining DCS version.

As an person who are quite busy in life, i don't have much time for this BS, i am less willing to add more money to DCS, as this trend of "I dont care about my customers" is the wrong path.

There should be enough testers that should face this issues before release.....are there enough testers?

I too have noticed stuttering and I have never had a problem before, also in the log there are instances of this that I have never seen before:

 WARNING WORLD (Main): ModelTimeQuantizer: ANTIFREEZE ENABLED

Any ideas? It was alluded to last year...

I just tried a MP server. The lag was beyond a stutter. There'd have to have been some movement for it to be classed as a stutter. It was a slideshow. It crashed in no time. It seized up and I had to force close DCS with the task manager.

I'm habitually emptying the fxo and metashaders folders as I was told this might help. I can't say it's making any difference really.

It's become a running joke for lots of MP users but the joke's beyond wearing thin. I've just paid for a Chinook I can't fly in MP half the time and if there are a few others trying to fly em, which of course there are, it's a stutterfest for most of us and unflyable. The new dynamic slot thing is hit and miss at best and is bugged a lot of the time.

That's when it doesn't just crash altogether. This started after the update previous to the last two.

Will I get a refund for all the modules and maps I own when you've finished breaking it for me ED? I doubt it. I can't buy anything else with it in this state. What am I gonna do if a Wildcat or a Tonka turn up?

Think this is the right log? I haven't used it for anything else today. I'm using Multi-thread preview: 2.9.7.58923

I did do that and it definitely made my multiplayer experience stable again when I did that but it made no difference to my single player experience.
