Hello Guys,

I've bought yesterday the new module and i don't know any resources of what keybinds to map, i've readed yesterday the ch-47f manual but i didn't saw anything related a part the page 56 - 58 showing the real buttons on real ch-47f.
Can you share guys what buttons you've mapped please ?

The axis commands are obviously the most important ones (cyclic roll, cyclic pitch, thrust control lever, pedals). If you can spare 2 axes for the toe brakes, that's a nice bonus.

As far as buttons go, for now we can do with a pretty minimal setup because so many functions are not yet implemented or work in progress.

The biggest one for me is trim (in the real aircraft, this would be the centering device release or CD REL, but in DCS it's actually called "Trim Control" for now).

I also find it useful to map the cargo hook release button, and since it's guarded, I've also mapped the cargo hook release cover.

As more functions get implemented, I think a lot of additional buttons will become useful later on.

Does the pilot not have a hook release on his cyclic… I’ve mapped what I think it is but with an underslung load I can’t release… only the emergency drop the lot button on overhead panel appears to work but surely that’s not correct.

You also need to map the safety catch in front of the release button. You also must select the hook used (so far only the middle is useable, so middle or "all") and arm the hook before release. This is done on the panel in the overhead control panel.

Problems I found for MYSELF with Cargo release:

I can MAP KEYS and they work in the Keyboard Options just fine but when I go in game they do not function.

The only Hook release ARM SWITCH I found to MAP that Worked was the

CARGO HOOK ARM SWITCH - move BACKWARDS, CARGO HOOK ARM SWITCH - move FORWARD,

after mapping both of these the switch would move in the in game cockpit. WITH the CARGO HOOK RELEASE SWITCH COVER - CLOSED, CARGO HOOK RELEASE SWITCH COVER - OPEN, And CARGO HOOK RELEASE PUSHBUTTON, The CARGO HOOK SELECTOR SWITCH - CCW, CARGO HOOK SELECTOR SWITCH - CW, and the CARGO HOOK SELECTOR SWITCH - MID. This switch must be set to MID (middle) and the ARM SWITCH MUST be set to ARM to let the cargo DISCONNECT when the CARGO HOOK RELEASE PUSHBUTTON gets pushed. None of the other hooks work yet so all we can use is the MID for now.

Other KEYs

FADECs, ENG START 1 and FADECs, ENG START 2 are helpful. The AFCS, SYSTEM SEL SWITCH - rotate CCW and AFCS, SYSTEM SEL SWITCH - rotate CW then like the others have said the COMMAND ENGINEER to Raise The Ramp Fully (Flight), and COMMAND ENGINEER to Lower The Ramp Fully (Unloading) Just some I feel I must have.

Right Ctrl + [ or ] to walk the Engineer to each station in the Chinook.  Just remember you have to hit the 3 key to go to the Engineer.  Cool stuff in VR!

That’sa great video. Thanks.

How are you turning around in VR? Are you literally turning 360 degrees or is there a way for people to rotate who are in a fixed seating position?

No, I am seated in a Next Level Boeing Chair.  The key bind "right CTRL + [ or ]" actually walks the engineer down to each station.  I am in VR in the video.  You do not even have to turn your head.  Once the Engineer gets to the station, you can look around, zoom in, use your cursor to interact, ect.....  You can also look around as he walks.  Its pretty wicked.  Still trying to figure out how to get the cargo hook operational.  I can open the trap door but have not discovered how to lower the hook.

I hope that one Day you will be able to walk around freely. (Using the Arrow Keys on the Keyboard)

My ultimate wish with the pilots in general in DCS. From the brief room to the aircraft, and around the carrier as already promised.

Nice find Devil, I was on about wanting this the other day 🙂.

I wanna ride a quad bike off the ramp as well but we might have to wait a bit for that. S’pose I’ll be walking up and down it in a minute then, cheers.

Ideally, I want a mess, a briefing room, transport out to my aircraft and I wanna stroll around doing my pre-flights. A quick chat with the ground crew, jump in, strap up and shoot off.

2 weeks.

Press one brake pedal (Doesn't matter which) and all four brakes operate on Chinook. Although you need to press both in to be able to pull the parking brake out to lock that in position.

I don't think that works in VR though, does it? (Where seat adjust - not camera adjust also works in VR).  Your suggestion should get those in 2D out of trouble though.

Ahh, sorry.
i missed that about VR.
In 2D it works great an i saved the view like most of us do.

All good. If you don't use it - it's hard to know about the differences. 😉  I do wish that the camera view could move in VR like it does in 2D though. There are other ways to recentre, etc - but still... it'd be nice to pan the view down like we can in 2D at times to ease the strain on an aging neck.

I use snap views to look at the overhead panels in helis. Trying to see what I was doing with trackIR and a dodgy neck wasn’t working at all.

Not sure if snap views wouldn’t give you a jolt in VR as I fly 2D with a laggy stutter. 🤪
