Personally I do not purchase maps before looking at the reviews or reading feed back.

Also I like the Afghanistan map even after reading & seeing peoples dis likes, for me it has a strange unnerving feeling when in the kiowa.

Regarding the Technology needed for such a map is irrelevant to me I like the look I am happy I buy.

Regarding WW2 we know it is slow progress, the team is much smaller and we have to be careful how and when we use our resources, some tasks and plans will take longer to fulfil.

It takes a while to realize that the products degraded in quality for a hardcore fan that I always consider myself as, however it sinks into my veins and I see better now. No longer blindly accept what's given. 

It seems that the biggest attention is on 3D art for the aircraft and some of the new ground units however there is more and more visible distinction in ground environment quality. 

Caucasus looks almost better than Kola in certain situations even beats it. 

Bigger maps? No if quality goes down, 

I am truly dissatisfied with Kola visual fidelity.

WW2 specific - 2 (La-7 and Pacific Theatre) - obviously this is what's currently in progress (we also wait for F4U and WW2 Marianas) but WW2 is also included in sales, updates and benefits from the DCS core improvements.

None of the DCS maps looks gorgeous at 200ft. That will only be fixed by someone developing a (much) smaller map specifically for helicopter operations. I have been very critical of the SA map for a long time, but now I am very happy with how it looks - and performs.

Oh - rephase that. Does it look like its made of fuzzy felt at 200ft in the way PG and Syria doesnt.

It would be interesting to know gear specs, graphics settings when comparing map performances. I only run DCS on a gaming laptop so, I guess I will have to live with the fuzzy feeling at 200ft. Hopefully one day I will upgrade to a custom PC. I did notice Normandy 2.0 offers more crisps details when flying down low but, it comes at a cost, I can only setup small scenarios compared to the PG.

This might help you decide your computer build == my specs for mid range computer == I use the 4 previous mentioned maps for WWII war birds ..   ....... 

Ever since MT was introduced my rig has been butter smooth in  my SP built missions and in paid DCS war-bird  campaigns .. before MT, campaigns were terrible FPS and lock ups ..  == I have NO Mods at all and No VR ==   I lock frame rates at 60 fps now ..

SPECS == if this helps at all ? ==Corsair one I-145 computer Liquid cooled .

Win 10 home  with HDR set to ON/  ASUS monitor  2560 x 1440 res/ Intel I7-9700k @ 4.7GHZ / Rtx 2080 super / 64 GB ram DDR4 @ 2667 MHz  / MB microstar Z3701 ..  and yes it will bounce between  CPU  and GPU bound , but all ways butter smooth .. and just about all DCS settings are MAXED OUT for the best Visuals .. 

Stick and Throttles and such are  ( VIRPIL ) = their products are Great , cost a bit $$  but worth it i think ..just in case you were wondering ?

My previous laptop did an Atlantic Ocean crossing on a sail boat, was nice to have DCS on board the TM WT still working as it's first day, just a bit rusty

Compared to map graphics 20 years ago, these are way better.

Before long, with a good video card maxed out, graphics for games will look so much more real it will be hard to tell animation from reality.

For me personally, I need a more updated rig to play at max graphics while getting at least 60fps.

Im thankful for the work the developers put into this game and hope they will continue their enthusiasm to generate efficiency and quality concerning graphics because realism is what we strive for. Right.

Yes, information about the Mig-29 would be great. But also about the situation regarding RB & ED. Half a year and there is NOTHING official to say about it...? Apart from the usual text phrases...?
