I am seeing this issue also but I’m also getting flickering black on the screen when taxing. Has anyone else reported flickering black as well as the Saturn rings?

FYI, devs are still working on this bug. The fix announced earlier was tested internally and proved unsuccessful.

I'm pretty sure the Saturn rings bug you mention is the one this thread is about. It's a brown crater texture which is stretched out on several kilometers.

Let's resume the conversation about black flickers in your latest thread.

Hi,

I am not sure the following terrain view issue is the known issue and waiting the patch to be fixed, or it is my environmental issue?

I found the rendering issue in the Syria map as well as in the Persian Gulf map.

Yes. This is a known issue which has unfortunately not been resolved yet in the latest update.

The issue is still present and it's still hard to reproduce internally. The team is trying to narrow down the bug. It happens will all terrains, with any GPU and any driver, but only on some servers. It looks like some server script triggers this bug. We need to identify this script so devs can find the flaw in DCS and fix it.

Can we please have a list of all affected servers? In this thread, only 3 groups of servers have been reported:

  • Contention
  • 4YA
  • DCSNZA
  • ROG
  • DCS Deutschland
  • DCS Hangar Community
  • Fliegender Zirkus
  • Shadowreapers
  • #BAFG

Do you know about any other affected servers?

I did not see it yet on BlueFlag. It has no dynamic slots

BTW: I have seen both of these happening (crater and "monolith") on contention, both artifacts both on Caucasus and Syria. More likely to happen on Syria, and "monolith" is probably related to the exploded unit as well.

It shouldn't be to hard to reproduce. Go to 4YA Syria, take an AH64 with Hellfires and engage ground targets on Cyprus. Nearly every airport has this annoying bug reliably present afterwards.

The servers marked in red, may be Iraq, but I'm not sure, I've only flown on this map once. More often, the problem occurs after a series of attacks on ground targets.

It's not a matter of "can we reproduce or not?" anymore, testers were able to reproduce the issue with an internal version using a 4YA server. But logs don't explain what happens and tracks do not replay the issue. Which is why we need to look elsewhere. The major trait of this issue is that it is only seen on some servers (some very popular ones, unfortunately), which may indicate that a custom script is doing the weird crater thing.

Thank you for clarification. I've seen it on Shadowreaper too - Hatay and the south of Syria especially more often.

I forgot to mention this but.... For me I was in single player NOT on multi player, not sure if that makes any differnce?.

I am not sure that the following incident would help or not.

MP Server: 4YA

Map: Persian Gulf

Route: from FARP-PARIS (it was owned by the blue side) to the Fujairah Intl Airfield (the following is an example of the route I took.  I followed the direction of the road with the radar attitude 100-180 to the position near the airfield field so that I could fire AGM-114Ls).  Hovered with the radar attribute around 300 and eliminated the ground targets.

after all, tried to land at the airfield and looked around with the crater view (please see my video).

Yes, it makes a huge difference because it would ease the reproduction of the bug for devs. Do you have the mission file, or even better, the DCS track?

@scommander2 Do you remember which targets you destroyed on the airfield? I think any unit can do as long as it leaves the brown crater, but just in case, that information could be useful.

S-300 x 1, ZSU-23-4 x 1, Vulcan x 1, and BTR80 x 1.  A F/A-18 (if I remembered correctly) took care most targets ahead of me.

Yesterday in 4YA Caucasus a friend was reporting seeing the bug while i saw nothing weirdly.. since i have seen this bug a lot until now..but for some reason not yesterday while other people were
