Even if it's not clicky, though I'd love a Full fidelity frogfoot (FF FF?), I do hope that the extra effort has them update the controls beyond the FC3 standards, just to increase the fidelity of the module a bit, e.g. wheel brake axes.
Yes! Brake axis are absolutely needed!

Any chance that the Su-25A rework (or Mig-29) will lead to an ability to set RBK/KMGU settings in the mission editor? Fuse settings haven't been added for Red.

Similarly, is there any chance that rocket warhead fragmentation will be better simulated? These aircraft that use primarily unguided weapons for ground attack would really benefit from these improvements.

Also, will the realism of FCS for the Su-25A be improved (i.e. only having a couple of ballistic pre-sets)?

Great news. Thanks ED. Su25 is one of the most legendary aircraft - it needs a full module in DCS.

Yes, I started off FC with flying this jobby ! The A10 has nothing on this beast, a flying tank. I think this is a very smart move by ED as it showcases the quality of their standards to new players like my son who has get interested in DCS without having it FF which is a shame, but I understand the thinking behind the release.

I read most of the post in this topic and I'm surprised to see that so many people didn't understand anything about the announcement about the Su25A. It's clear though. They will make a full fidelity Su25 for free, with a full clickable cockpit, but it's not a complete rework of the one we actually have because they will keep the flight model. It's amazing how it's easy to understand. It's a fantastic news imo, but yes some players will always find something to complain about... And the worse are those who wants a refund of the module from the FC3 because it's not normal to have now something free when you bought something else before, lol. You spend dozens of hours on a module and later you want a refund because a new, better developed module becomes free. You had fun, right? You enjoyed it? So you got your money's worth, right ? We live in strange times with strange people. I'm on my side very happy of the announcement. I'm not a fan a the SU25A, I don't eveny know if I'll play with it even if it's free, but I love the news because it brings more diversity.

No, thats not correct.

They are making a FREE Su-25 FC level, so no full clickable cockpit, with a brand new 3D exterior model and a brand new 3D cockpit interior, plus enhanced damage model and some undisclosed features.

It´s not a Full Fidelity free Su-25. So the ones who payed for FC that includes Su-25 now , some of them, are complaining about everyone will get one for free.

Evidently not clear enough. This is not a full fidelity rework but a high fidelity one. So a Flaming Cliffs module with much improved visuals.

So, my bad and you are right it's not clear. On the other hand no need to complain, something free is coming. Just a bit of deception ^^

Im ok with this move, giving an improved Su-25 FC level for free. Is some kind of redundancy because there IS already one Su-25T FC level for free.

A wise movement should be to improved the Tango instead of the Alpha, so nobody could complain because IS actually free but, people LOVE to complain on internet

no redundancy at all. I fly only Su-25, and completely ignore Su-25T, they are so different. The only similar thing is the airframe and flight models are close. But even in this respect, non-T version is more agile.

I think Su-25 is actually a great choice, a whole lot better choice then Su-25T. As Su-25 is mass produced (some 1300 airframes) real life aircraft, very relevant, veteran of dozens of conflicts all around the world. Exciting flight performance, engaging gamepleay, history, atmosphere, weapon employment, fitting other Soviet era modules like MiG-29 9.12, Su-17M, MiG-21bis, Mi-24P etc.

When Su-25T practically didn't exist IRL. There were 8 airframes built, tested without success as it had abysmal flight perofrmance, range, maneuverability, fire control didn't work in practice as intended so it has been rejected by the military and cancelled.

I feel like the only purpose of semi-fictional prototype Su-25T would be to spoil the fun from the real Su-25.

Su-25T has been created by ED back then, when DCS was being developed, precisely because it was just an irrelevant prototype, like Ka-50, and Russian government didn't care.

As far as I know, Igor Tishin really liked the Su-25T. Plus, the Su-25T allows for a wider range of tasks performed by the player in missions.

I personally prefer the Su-25T (due to its wide range of weapons and better sighting system) and fly it much more than the Su-25.

Would have preferred a fully realised SU-25 but I got a streamdeck so at least Im lucky enough to be free of the keyboard gymnasics. So its better than nowt. Much better.

I look forward to seeing the Hip get some similar, long overdue, love.

I also look forward to a newsletter containing "proof of life" for the Afghan map....

Can anyone clarify if the redux 25 is to have diffent keybinds or will it carry over the FC ones?

The announcement specifically says the reworked SU-25A will be "high" fidelity, not "full" fidelity. You must have missed the sentence "Based on the Flaming Cliffs series, aircraft operations will be tailored towards ease-of-use aiming to establish bindings and modes of operation." Therefore it will not have a clickable cockpit. Basically they are making two changes to the existing module (1) making it free and (2) upgrading the visual model.

Exactly. Which is a great news anyway, even though i don't like or use FC3 modules. Free for all and with great graphics.

My hope is, spending such a big amount of resources on very detailed cockpit and external model, will make ED use it for full fidelity Su-25 later on.

When i tried the FC SU-25A 10 years ago, the flight model was rather bad. Felt like on rails with a lot of canned effects (mostly shaking) added onto it.
Have there been improvements in the last years? The flight model of the SU-25 should be roughly on par with other modules, otherwise it will not do much to attract new players...

I think it is understandable to have some bitter feeling if someone just bought Flaming Cliffs, and then got the news that one of the planes he just paid for will become free. Especially if the person is not from a rich country.

I've just checked, Su-25 costs $7.49   It's one kebap from a hole-in-the-wall, a guy made you in 10 minutes and you ate in 5...    ED products are in reality extremely cheap value / money.

Plus most of the whole games, at some point, goes free of charge, does it mean developers should then return money for all the people ever bought their product? It would be ridiculous.

If someone paid kebap price Su-25, he's going to receive MORE then what he paid for. Paying for an old, dated model, when receiving refreshed one with fantastic graphics.

I get the point - I was intially minded to feel similar (and Im from a "Rich" country). Ultimately though, if the rationale to update the model and make it free to better encourage sales results in a nicer looking module then it is what it is. Sooner that than not having the update.

Now, coming back to Hip. I really feel that there is huge untapped market of players currently out of reach and uncommitted due to the lack of an updated free helo modul..........no?.......worth a try 🙂

Yes, and when it comes to Hip i would also like to have earlier variant as well, just like Su-25. Original Mi-28T, MT or mid 1980s modernized Mi-8MTV.

Because right now we will have plenty of 1980s Soviet era red force aircrafts like MiG-29 9.12, Su-17M, MiG-21bis, MiG-23MLA, Mi-24P plus Fulda Gap and Afganistan maps - but too modern, 1990s Mi-8MTV2, not fitting the timeframe.

Current Mi-8MTV2 we have is too late for Afganistan map, too late for the Fulda Gap map, with all the 1980s Soviet and NATO modules fitting them perfectly.
