Same resolution for everyone:

1. Exclude DCS installation folder from scanning.

2. Run DCS repair.

After several tries this last week, finally my game launcher downloaded and installed last known update, but... now...

...And this is the error message that comes out once I've tried to launch the "Repair Build"

I'm sorry, but that doesn't help either.

I had my exclusion set to an old drive (D:), forgetting that I'd since transferred DCS onto a new SSD drive (H:).  Please make sure your exclusion has the right drive designation.

you may find you need to release the file from quarantine, add an exclusion for the whole of DCS to be safe, then run a slow repair of DCS or verify if steam

It is the AV software and the answer is the same as above.

how to exclude windows defender from touching dcs?

i used to have kaspersky, and now i didn't extend and am only back to windows defender and voila.. but this can't be the reason surely?

Posted

do i need to exclude the whole folder where dcs is.. also what next, do i delete the quaranteed file of f14 and repair the f14 or restore it-aka release it back to where it was?

Posted

reporting success, added folder to exclusion from windows defender, then deleted the quaranteed file, run repair of f14, asked me what to do with some useless f14 folder that is empty, i said delete, ended the repair without any errors etc.. run the dcs launcher and voila.. it works.. hope others same luck.. i got my tomcat back..ufff what a tiring night. instead of carrier landings and refueling i was forum and windows defender trimming.. ))

Defender trimming! Gonna save that. Sounds like some wild defense strategy.
Happy you are back in the sky!

Your Anti-Virus solution is messing with you and DCS. NOT ED's fault! Exclude the Eagle Dynamics/Steam core DCS folder in your Anti-Virus solution. THEN perform a full repair or a verification of the files integrity in Steam. That's it.
Not to be a dick, but a quick Google search would've solved this in minutes for you.
Cheers!

You may have forgotten to run the DCS (slow)-repair feature afterwards to restore the files defender deleted :)

Check your anti virus if it has removed any files from DCS. If it did, add DCS as an exception to your anti virus and then run a repair of DCS. That should fix it.
