Some developers can't stop adding liveries and some aircraft are using to much disc space up to 17 GB for the F-14 for example.

Only with the F-14 and the F-4 there's almost 32 GB. Those are 2 aircraft I don't use.

The F-1 is using 10GB and it's another aircraft I don't use.

The folder CoreMods should be optional, specially the textures and liveries.

Just leave a default texture for each aircraft if some player doesn't have a particular livery.

I totally agree. In my case, I have all the modules and maps, and at least half of the campaigns. Updating the game is becoming increasingly complicated. I had to uninstall the War Birds DLC and the WWII resource pack, along with the maps corresponding to that era. Otherwise, all those libraries would be there, and if I were lucky enough to use two or three in particular from each module, I'd have hundreds of gigabytes to install other maps.

IT SHOULD BE OPTIONAL! Some way to select which library you want, since installing and uninstalling modules and maps is cumbersome, inconvenient, and a total waste of time!

You have to plan ahead and install or uninstall a map; it makes no sense at all.

You can use the new start interface to select whether you want the skins from each DLC.

It would help a lot of people!

this should be a must, i'm already using 1TB dedicated to DCS and this kind of monopolization of disk space is a bad word in gaming industry

I agree, however the question of optional liveries is a fully padded out forum topic already...

can you link that post in case it also helps?

A file manager for this kind of thing would be great.

I totally agree. Even from a business perspective, you are virtually increasing the price of your products, since we, as customers, not only have to buy the modules but also the storage drives to hold these new, increasingly large modules (Germany map, for example, will be 250 GB). Many times we end up not buying a module simply because we don't have enough space on our PC to store it.

I believe ED should make this a priority, as it will have a significant impact on us as customers, and consequently, on their sales as a provider.

I agree that DCS is a storage hog if you purchase a lot of Modules, however I have my doubts that just uninstalling liveries would free up enough storage space to be able to install a large Map like Germany's ... if you have to worry about 30-60 GB, the odds are that your drive is almost full anyway and you would be just postponing the inevitable storage upgrade.

A year ago I upgraded my 1 TB DCS drive, into a 2 TB unit:

.. however after just 12 months I'm seeing that this year I might need another upgrade, to a 4 TB one, so I can certainly agree with that DCS space needs can be daunting.

I started with a 500gb. Quickly moved to a 1tb m.2 then a 2TB m.2.... now I'm using a 4TB m.2 just for DCS.

I have a 2TB m.2 dedicated just for steam and have about 40 games installed. And they don't come close to the size of DCS.

Just imagine if every program and game used and extra 30-60 GB just in case because someone may use it. The reality is DCS has a lot of things that are very old, things worked OK back then with only 2 aircraft but now we have many more plus some developers uploading liveries with a very high definition.

Yes, small files add up. 10's GB absolutely matter even on multiple TB hard drives. It's also not just about being able to install 200 GB maps, but temporally storing a few GB download, or maybe photos, videos, etc.  I've kept going on my 1 TB drive not by only cleaning up big files but by paying attention to smaller ones. Not to mention that if you're not going to use "small" stuff like liveries, why have them around?

I'm having to upgrade my storage to continue playing this game.

Actually, you can keep playing DCS for as long as you want without upgrading your storage ... you just need to stop purchasing more Modules.  But I can't really expect to purchase an additional Map and have the game using the same storage, can't I?

Of course, but even if you're not purchasing modules, the game's still going to just get larger and larger. The hotfix today was over 40 gigs for some people.

You'd have to quite literally stop updating your DCS.

True, this happens exceptionally when a developer adds stuff to an existing Map .. as was the case with Kola on this last update.

Which is stupid because I don't even own that map.

Then you don't have any file of that map, maps are not like aircraft modules ... the latter are divided in two parts: those that have purchased the aircraft have at /Mods the files like its cockpit, full flight model, and missions, those that have not purchased it still have files for it at /CoreMods, like the external shape, liveries, and a simplified flight model.

Well, in my case I have stopped buying products, the last thing I bought was the CH-47, I couldn't buy the rest because I don't have any more space... and the little that's left is a planning for future updates! Up to the CH-47 I have bought everything, and I would like to continue buying DLC's but it's outrageous how they are handling them... What good is it to me to have 100 textures of an airplane when I think I only use the standard and the aggressor one for my case, the rest are there laughing at me telling me to buy another SSD... I have a 240GB m2 for the PCIe 3.0 operating system, I had a 1TB SSD exclusively for DCS and 1TB exclusively for other games and work stuff. I had to uninstall other games and use half of the other disk just to put Kola, Falklands, Sinai, Syria, the WWII maps I had to directly remove them along with the WWII planes to reserve space for possible updates... this is a joke!!! And it goes without saying that if you delete all those unnecessary textures... they will be downloaded again in the next UPDATE...

Truth to be told, updater usually needs to download and extract "new" X gigs of files to replace "old" X, not to add to total game size, which remains similar or only little bigger.

Still, hefty disc space required for temporary download and extraction of update files is also a problem, even if somewhat different one.

It's becoming a problem that will make many users stop buying their products in the future... (you'll soon have to buy an 8TB SSD). It's completely excessive for just a few textures (whether you have the module or not), because in both cases, those who don't have it download them anyway, and those who do might not even use them or, to save space, might not be interested in them and prefer to have maps, which for me are more than just a texture... Besides, in my flight group, I use my own squadron texture, so the rest are irrelevant to me.

Today it's a warning, and tomorrow it's going to become a problem, and in the future it could cause unnecessary financial losses for Eagle Dynamics

I absolutely agree, this is a MUST, just give the option and you must have an statistic of the most used skins for each aircraft, pick the 5 most used and let those within the default liveries option. You can create an official called optional liveries so everyone who wants to use them just install that mod.
