When that system is active, you'll be (mostly) looking outside of the cockpit anyway, so there might not even be an issue And perhaps it's an incentive to many to start using proper fence-in / fence-out procedures, instead of flying with "master arm on" during the entire flight... I fly MiG-21Bis and don't speak Russian. Whenever you hover mouse pointer on certain switch, you get text which translates to English. Like that I am able to use it without problem. After couple of months you get used to all switches and don't even need any language. 1 1

CrazyGman Posted yesterday at 04:46 PM Posted yesterday at 04:46 PM (edited) Not going to lie I learned originally in metric when doing flight Sims flying German and Russian planes in IL-2, and then with the MiG-21 and MiG-15 as my first planes in DCS, and I actually prefer flying metric. However for the Mi-24P I had the labels in English for the first couple of weeks to help rapidly learn her. Then when I had it down I switched back to Cyrilic. I'll probably do the same for the MiG-29. Sorry learning morse code, and nautical flags are the first 2 side quests on my SIM agenda. Cyrilic is a distant third. Dača Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago From latest Wags' video about navigation. I understand that we can add multiple points in DTC "Points" tab. And if I understand correctly, MiG-29A navigation system can only see next tabs "Waypoints" and "Aerodromes" ? Can Points from the first tab be recognized and used by plane systems, HUD, etc... If they can't, what is their use then ?

Once you make a point, you can use it for aerodrome, waypoint, or beacon. It’s just a convenience thing so you have a pool of points to assign to whatever without needing to make new ones for each tab. 3 Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

So it sounds like It's how I thought and similar to how it is with the Viggen cartridges. You just can have a bunch that you pre program that you can then select between, and you don't have to constantly make new ones each time if you want the same set of waypoints. Except since the MiG-29 doesn't actually have cartidges. It's more like handing a playbook set of waypoint instructions that you give to the ground crew so you can go -"program waypoint set Sierra into the jet please" Edited 3 hours ago by CrazyGman 1

So, basically the Points are just like some kind of template to choose which waypoints will be needed and therefore defined into waypoints and aerodromes (3+3) ? The rest that are not selected as Waypoints and Aerodromes do not exist once loaded into aircraft? Did I get it right? 1

There are also 3 beacon points I know of beacon points (or at least I think I know), but I am not completely sure about "Points". Just the ones from DTC page in mission editor. Let's start with this question: How much Points (first tab from DTC) can be added in mission editor ? More than 6 ? 1
Vakarian Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago You can have a million of them, but you can't use more than 3 for beacons and more than 3 for airfields (which can also be used for beacons). As AeriaGloria said, you build a pool of points so you can reuse them later on. Aircraft will have loaded no more than 6 points in total, but as Wags also mentioned in the video, you can build a route from the points you added earlier and that route will be displayed on the kneeboard later on. Really, watch the video again but pay attention. I know it's long one but it does contain a lot of info. 1

I watched it today and now with your and AeriaGloria explaination I think I'm good. It would be much easier to learn if I had MiG-29 to try how everything works. Even harder is when my brain is currently set around F-16C.
CrazyGman Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago There is one thing I still don't quite understand. How does it work when you select both a beacon and a waypoint ? What is then is actually depicted on the hud and HSI?
