Can we get this as part of the module setting instead of using the global ones. I use Imperial for all the western jets and want to use Metric for the Mig29... And its a PITA to switch it globally constantly.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

It has been requested before, and the need has been acknowledged by ED.

Funny thing is, that on my end the MiG-29’s cockpit is a mix of metric and imperial:

HSI says miles but is using kilometres, fuel gauge says NM but is using KM, airspeed indicator is in KPH, true airspeed indicator is in knots, radar altimeter is in feet 🤷‍♀️

This truly shows how poorly thought out the system is, and highlights the need for special options.

Or they simply could have left the system as is was, then it would have worked perfectly, instead of trying to make an ‘80s Soviet aircraft display imperial units…

That's driving me nuts. And I think it is also a server side setting. Last night,  my imperial cockpit turned to metric (analogue speed gauge also) by itself on the Contention server. (I was thinking to myself how am I so fast but not climbing fast enough, then figured duh). This module needs a lot of work on a lot of fronts. Radar lockon/drop out, SPO full of false alerts and online dysfunctional IFF are reason enough to shelve this one until fixed. Bummed 😕

I was so hyped for this release since I really love Soviet technology, but there were a few things that immediately jumped at me within 1 minute inside the cockpit that gave me a bad mood for the rest of the evening: cockpit units and those horrible visor reflections.
At least both have been acknowledged by ED and will get fixed.

I'll still fly it. Other than the units, the cockpit is HeatBlur-level of quality (really REALLY well done), and I simply love how it flies: Soviet DCS modules always 'clicked' with me 🙂

MiG-29s that made their way into the Luftwaffe after the reunification of Germany were in fact converted to imperial gauges and english labels. Not sure if there were other export nations that used imperial right away. In any case, it‘s not an artificial feature of DCS. (Not sure if the HUD was converted as well as it is the case in DCS if you chose imperial.)

If I understand correctly, the conversion was made when the planes were upgraded with western equipment and we don't have that version of the mig.

Btw, luftwaffe, but English labels... Strange and weird

Why? The German Airforce is a NATO airforce, the fast jet pilots have been training in the USA since the 1960s, it has used US aircraft for a very long time, English is the international language in aviation, so naturally avionics in Geman AF aircraft are labeled in English.

True, but come on…it basically lacks the TACAN, IFF and radio. Only some of the german MiGs received GPS also (as far as I understand). So it is very close to the version we have in DCS now.

Does that mean that all nato countries use English in their cockpits instead of their own languages? That brings me back to weird

Did Warsaw Pact countries use their own native language in their MiGs, Suchois, Antonovs, Tupolev and Iljiushin? Were there Polish, Romanian, Czech, Hungarian and German labels and Natashas or Nadjas or whatever the East called their Bitchin' Betties? No, of course not. Nothing weird about that.

Of couse every NATO nation uses English in aviation- except for the French, but their history in NATO is special in many ways, so...

And I'm guessing that nowadays Airbuses and Boeings in Russia also have English cockpit labels and avionics.

I support the wish. The units settings for the aircraft should not have landed into the global options. It should stay in special options for specific aircraft.

I get the wish for english cockpit (although still unrealistic) but changing units to imperial, while it was only done in G version, is imho over the board.
