Boulund Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I'd love to join in for that, but unfortunately I really don't have time for this until at best, middle of november. I'm swamped with work and exams and just in the middle of moving to a new apartment. I'll join the group to keep up to date with events, but surely count me in sometime! =D Core i5-760 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB DDR3, Geforce GTX470, Samsung SATA HDD, Dell UH2311H 1920x1080, Saitek X52 Pro., FreeTrack homemade cap w/ LifeCam VX-1000, Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1. -fox- Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Tempting but I am more of a lone wolf-player and prefer to keep it at SP for the time being.
Grodin Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 No TrackIR, no JIP, max player limit and vehicle limitations destroy possibility of actual multiplayer experience... not to mention the arcadish gameplay :| Codemasters failed, this fancy looking software has nothing on the original flashpoint.. Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.
graywo1fg Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 this game is absolute console crap if you ask me :( No track IR no join on progress as stated above. i cant even play with people from Europe? YOU CANT EVEN LEAN AROUND CORNERS!!!!! you cant use the mouse while in a vehicle to look around. The graphics dont impress me at all. the field of view is terrible. yea i'll be sticking with ArmA 2 as well. they took the great OFP name and took a dump ALL over it :( Voice of Jester AI Death From Above =DFA= Squadron Discord - https://discord.gg/deathfromabove http://www.twitch.tv/graywo1f https://www.youtube.com/user/Lonewo1fg
deadsmell Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Btw DR is the first game im getting the slight Motion Sickness. Maybe im getting old :D I havent played DR, but i had to chime that, I too have started getting that motion sickness on occasion. Its very random, and usually after ive had a few drinks, but it NEVER used to happen to me. Theres literally been times when I had to just kind of fall out of my chair and crawl away to get away from the monitor. lol. Quite embarrassing even if no-ones watching. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
shadowze Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Can someone answer me why this thread exists ? OFP2 most definetly is NOT a SIM why give this peice of poop a thread ? Its just another p1ss poor FPS game
joey45 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 This thread twas made before the game was realesed. Thinking it would stay true to the origanal [ how wrong we were ] it was decided to make a thread about it. And now it is released..... It's not fit for the fan... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Shaman Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 (edited) It is here, because there are people like me who find ARMA2 the most bugged poop ever. If you don't like DR, move along, nothing for you to see here... don't bother posting - bye. Today I have played with several friends of mine, we all had great time with OFP: DR - it is our FPS of choice now. PS. Look at the other threads.. Need for Speed SHIFT? Mechwarrior? none of these are true simulations - but which game really is. Everything is for entertainment anyway. joey45 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I find DR to be more arcadey then sim. Being an ex squddie I find ArmA1/2 being played with about 16 players is great for team work. DR is still too new to judge at this time, to me anyway. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. crazysundog Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 If i didn't get the 3RROD yesterday, i would be playing OFDR right now. Love this game...although i agree that a huge patch and a buttload of new multiplayer options are needed. True, it is not in the same league as Arma2, but I cannot play Arma2 on my xbox, and I refuse to play an FPS with a mouse and keyboard...just a personal preference.

Total Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 OFP is a tactical shooter, but definitely not a sim. First thing I noticed in beta was the lack of weapon's sway after running, then stopping, then scoping in with an ACOG. I might as well have been well rested and prone. My suggestion for more realistic weapons sway was not received well. As was my feedback on the vehicles not having sufficient damage models. If they fix the MP side, it could be a great game online and for competition leagues. I doubt they will fix it though.
-fox- Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I love the pace and the shooting mechanics (much more then OFP1/ARMAs'; DISCLAIMER: just my personal preference, mkay?!) but the vehicles are indeed not very well done. They feel more like a bonus then like an important part of the game. The engine/editor is also quite limited (only capable of calculating 60 active units at the same time, very limited assets and such). I hope they are going to support this game properly with free patches (not just costly DLC).
Logan9773 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I find the game to be nothing but console crap. Too many weird bugs to even count. My guy seems to be able to spot people I can't see anywhere on the screen, calling them out to the rest of the team. I hate that. Also, the enemy seems to know exactly where you are the minute you get anywhere near close, no matter if your crawling through bushes and grass. Very unrealistic. Very arcade. Horrible physics, if any. My character seems to be able to walk up and down walls like he's spiderman. Bland, ugly terrain, pretty much like Arma. Basically, just a worse, more arcadish, version of Arma. Sticking to Crysis, and hoping one day we get regular soldiers and realistic vehicles / aircraft / ships in it.
element1108 Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I think if you visit the CM dragon rising forums you'll see a VERY pissed off community, both from the PC and console sides of things. A buggy broken initial release (missing 1/2 the advertised content on the console version)...the patch just released yet I still can't beat mission 5 because the AI helo pilots won't follow me to the extraction point even though ALL enemies in the area are killed). Anyway, now they're charging for two new mp maps and a free roam mission that gives console players the ability to explore a deserted island. Anyway not to knock them, but I don't see CM doing anything PR related to douse the flames a bit. Frankly I'm very surprised the community has backlashed as much as it has, new hate threads popping up every minute and hardly any praising the game. Anyway it's too bad really, I feel it could have been a MUCH better initial release, but who knows where the updates may take it. It's weird that games released now can be as buggy as this one was (and ARMA 2 for that matter). Black Shark released almost perfectly compared to these games. I've not had any problems with black shark (except that campaign save game bug that took me back a mission if i quit in the first 2 mintues).
-fox- Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 There's a PC-Patch coming out tomorrow: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=394523 Haven't seen many bugs in SP myself.

element1108 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Anybody still playing OFP ??? The game seems to be dead in the water from both the console communities and the PC sides. 37 players online currently...9:26pm EST. Nobody over on the forums really has anything good to say about it. :(
crazysundog Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I have been slowly cracking away at the Hardcore SP on xbox.....but the MP does not work for me...unless i play coop. very sad ending to a game with loads of potential.

element1108 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 The got their money anyway. But that's just it, a quick money trip will do SO much more damage in the long run. These type of games have LONG shelf life traditionally, but this one is completely dead now. The community has forsaken it and the developers haven't uttered a word since release really. Crazydog, what mission are you on?

I've not had any problems with black shark (except that campaign save game bug that took me back a mission if i quit in the first 2 mintues).Don't compare Codemasters to TFC/ED, that is really by no means sound. The FPS crowd nowaday seems to swallow pretty much every piece of cr** that publishers try to shove down their throats, with the tactical shooter guys being a (minor but still) pleasant exception. On the other hand, many simmers tend to not buy everything that hits the shelves but instead wait at least for some initial reviews. There is no way that DCS could have taken off with such a flawed release. Just think of the starforce debacle that happened while back. While there have been no starforce related device problems with DCS that i am aware of, ED still had to face lots of complaints of potential users for going with SF again. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

They are not after long term sales, they are after a quick return on their investment. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Let me repeat: I have not seen many bugs in the SP and of those I have, none was showstopping. There's a shitload of other contemporay releases that were far more buggy then DR. As has already been repeatedly said by me and others, Dragon Rising is not a sim, it is a tactical shooter with some semi-realistic elements. I understand that people are being angry about the developers because apparently they have promised much more than they delivered - I haven't paid their announcements much attention but if I would feel being lied to, I'd be angry too. Nonetheless, judged on it's own, for what it is, I find it a really enjoyable game and believe it or not, my standards aren't low and I have quite some experience with FPS-games under my belt. Yes, it has its share of flaws but just because it's not a game to your flavor, you shouldn't belittle it or those who like playing this game. Edited November 10, 2009 by -=fox=-
asparagin Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 fair comment Fox, I currently try the game in SP, the only bug i found is some floating soldiers in the distance. I don't like that except headshots it takes a lot of ammo to kill. i appreciate a lot the solid programming, while there is less detail in the graphics than arma 2, the game runs fluid even on my old 8800 GT, and i think fluid gameflow is important to such titles because nobody likes stalking an enemy base for half an hour and then die due to lag  Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
