isnt it James 'Nutty' Hallows that programmed the foxy software....

Yeah - that's him.

.....am sure I read somewhere that he was helping develop the new software (or updated foxy?) for the new Warthog.....

New Software package (Not a Foxy Update) - And No, he's not involved with the development of the new software.

Here is what James Hollows wrote in a forum :

I can't comment too much, but I can say that I am not developing a version of Foxy for the HOTAS Warthog. The style of programming we developed for the Cougar arose from previous syntax TM users were familiar and comfortable with. That has produced a very capable and very powerful system for the HOTAS Cougar.

But now there's a need for something that can program a multitude of TM controllers such as the Warthog, Cougar and MFDs together, and furthermore, vastly increase the programming capability beyond what you've experienced to date.

I probably can't say as yet what my role is in regards to that, and nor can I comment on the software TM are developing. It is my hope that Foxy can be retired by something far more capable, and as such, I'm playing my part to try and ensure that one day, that becomes a reality for you.

best regards,

There are several being tested amongst community members, and developers, as we speak. At the moment, fine tuning of the hardware, button responses and axis forces are being undertaken by TM. Kudos to them for taking onboard the suggestions coming at them from the team although it has to be said that most of the suggestions have come from them which has surprised me. NDA and contract and all that, so that's all I'm saying at this point in time.

This will be a popular HOTAS, of that I have no doubt. But not to be accused of bias, by all means, wait and try one and decide for yourself. So far, a lot of great thinking and attention to detail are apparent.

Minor correction to one post: the software for this isn't being developed by me.

Cheers

Nutty

A unified software package bridging the HOG HOTAS & the MFD Cougar could be a very powerful tool what with DCS: A-10 in the pipeline.

Sounds promising. Lets hope it was a statement of progress rather than one of intent only.

300 euros, (£250 -ish hopefully), for HOG Cougar & £60 for MFD Cougar? Who needs a new kitchen /car /bathroom /girlfriend?

Huh? €399 is more like $500.

And they usually sell them for the same anyway, €399, $399 with the exception of GBP which is usually ~£50 less :)

Ahh c'mon TM, get your act together :)

Yeah, a bit more info on type of buttons used. Programming all that permanent switches is going to be fun. :P

But they deleted the "Available: Spring 2010" statement. :(

Damn these cappy MoD computer systems and there lack of flash support! Guess I'll have to wait until I finnish work to be able to drool over the new ad.

But they deleted the "Available: Spring 2010" statement. :(

I won't be suprised if they end up delaying the release until shortly before DCS:A-10C is unleashed, whenever that may be.

Isn't the stick info incorrect? I see 4 hats (the thumb hat) not 3.

This is getting exciting the thing looks gorgeous.

EDIT: ahh crap missed the bottom sentence. :D

For all the Flash challenged people, and it's easier to read that way:

I sincerely doubt they will tie the Warthog to the DCS.

Thanks for posting the pics, but I can't see them either. I say again, damn MoD firewalls!

I think they will most likely not tie in with the release of A-10C either really, afterall there will be people who buy it for other sims and they'd be silly not to take advantage of that revenue. But at the same time, as I said above, neither would I be suprised if they did.

Either way I'm not too bothered as I'll not be buying until shortly before A-10C is unleashed anyway. But still I cannot wait to play with all those switches:joystick:.

Haha, yeah, I went two times through that, and wondered how can they design such a thing, and not be able to count. Until I realised I'm the one that can't read. :D

Hm... But I miss some axis... es... Axises. But I guess they're doing the replica. Kind of a shame, since they could do them with Hall technology now, I bet it's as cheap for them as potentiometers, or even cheaper.

Yes, a rotary at the throttle is critical for russian birds (radar elevation)...but then again...I can survive without flying them if I have to :D

I think the 3 position switch (1 perm, 2 momentary) might work just as well for that. Or one of the hats.
