Pilotasso Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I already use hats, but they are less useful for small elevation steps. Dont like macroing it to more steps. I will lose precision for fast approaching evasive targets at closer ranges. .

roob Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I was hoping for the "click here to buy/see our retailers"... :( My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
jocko417 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Hmm... TWO x 3 position (permanent) switches TWO push buttons FIVE x 2 position (permanent) switches TWO x 3 position (2 permanent, 1 momentary) switches I guess everybody can locate the trim wheel :)
*Rage* Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Looks good. I hope the programming software is powerful enough (and usable enough!) to take advantage of all those switches and that it plays with FC2! How would you program a permanent/momentary switch in FC2? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Bwaze Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Looks good. I hope the programming software is powerful enough (and usable enough!) to take advantage of all those switches and that it plays with FC2! How would you program a permanent/momentary switch in FC2? I would guess same as permanent switches on Cougar. You can have keypress for every state of the button, and keypress for return to the neutral state, so assigning things is very flexible. It helps if the keypress is "one way" - one key for "airbrake out" and another for "airbrake in" (when switch returns to neutral position). Otherwise it can happen that switch position doesn't reflect the current state in the game.
jocko417 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Bwaze is correct. The Ignition switches on the Warthog base will work this way too, move them fwd to 'IGN' to have the ignition system always running (eg. when in icing conditions or heavy rain), or hold them aft to 'MOTOR' to spin the engine without the ignition system active (eg. to ventilate the turbine of pooled fuel after an aborted start). Release the switch and it snaps back to the neutral position (Normal Selection) Edited May 19, 2010 by jocko417 clarifying
Avilator Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Hmm... TWO x 3 position (permanent) switches TWO push buttons FIVE x 2 position (permanent) switches TWO x 3 position (2 permanent, 1 momentary) switches I guess everybody can locate the trim wheel :) There is no trim wheel on the throttle base. The wheel you do see is for adjusting the friction on the handles. Trim is accomplished by a hat switch on the stick grip. I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Stretch Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I'm guessing jocko417 knows that's a throttle friction lever in the real A-10; however Thrustmaster calls it a trim wheel. And given that they're calling it a trim wheel, I'm guessing it's a mappable axis and has no effect on throttle friction. jocko417 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah, TM's words, not mine :) "Trim" wheel... Begs the question, if this is actually intended to be a trim wheel on the TM Warthog as advertised in the flash ad, is there a friction control for the throttles at all? The Cougar friction wheel actually controlled 'stick-tion' :smilewink:

Bwaze Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 They removed the date from the product description page, so it looks that button description is all we got for this update. It doesn't really tell us how close to the release we are - could be soon, but it could also be delayed by months, since the 'Available: Spring 2010' announcement is gone...

Sokol1_br Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 "Trim" wheel...Notice that Tm remove the label "Friction" in Warthog base. Friction adjust is a secondary function, can be made under base or like in cougar, leaving the dial to control one axis (trim, radar elevation...) Sokol1

Eddie Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 as soon as it hits the shelves ;) You plan on waiting that long? I plan in intercepting the stock boy en route from the delivery ramp to the shelves. And I'll be carrying a large stick in case he tries to deny me instant access to all those switches. mmmmmmmmmmm switches...........
coolts Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) now i can finally relive that boyhood "death star weapons officer" dream and the throttle had better make a "bbbeeeeeeeuuuuuooooooowwww" noise!
