Well they do seem cheaper because you don't (can't) buy that many frequently... evry few years or so you might get one, whereas with other games (FPS for example) there are tens of titles coming out every year.

FC2 development started around June 2009.

Well seeing that you placing new content does this mean maybe the new content is the fix for the Refuel on-line from airborne tankers refuel-boom arm visible and snorkels? The client side aircraft-carrier blast-shield is visible to others from the server-side to client and spectator? Also are you compiling the new F15c to be included?

This is my $30.00 increase questions?

I have no problems with the price increase. I'm sure it's worth it. Compared to what you pay for other games, I think flight sims are "cheap" considering the long time enjoyment you get compared to most games.

It's not easy to survive without making money :(

+1

$30 is cheap, really cheap considering the development time, quality of the product and your likely long term enjoyment out of it.

Like I said, They could've abanded it four months after release with an engine that couldn't be modded....

We don't know the ins and outs of the FC2.0 develement and why it got put back a bit....

$30 = about 20 quid.... That's quids in [ or top doller ] in my book.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

It's Close! I can feel it in my Bones.

Dusting off the Credit Card........:D

Yes we are getting close. Last 48 hours testing with a break of 2 hours to watch F1 and 6 hours to have a kip. With all the new avionic and missile Ai, etc etc, this is a non-trivial task compared to testing the latest console game which a kid can do in 4 hours!

I guess it was discovered in last minute that some nuts on the BTR-70 rear axle hubs were M20 instead of M24?

Time and money discussion? I'll give 100 USD if SAM and damage models were fixed, and even more if it will be playable in multiplayer. Under playable, I mean stable and reliable and easy to connect as IL2 at least.

Time and money? Comparing to cars? There is some competition in vehicle industry. ED has no (professional) competition for decades.

Expensive or cheap? If you are willing to pay more, feel free to donate into a fund for people from midworld countries. If Russians will have to pay lower again on account of some raccoon excuse, that sucks more then any price raise.

Even if LO/DCS would cost 100.- per year to play online, it would still be a bargain compared to what one spends for and gets from pay-tv, cigarettes or booze...

Maybe so, but I have pay-tv, cigarettes or booze AS WE TYPE/READ this ;)

Don't release early with bugs. Take your time please. If ED feels warranted to increase price, what would people rather? Have ED keep the price low, lose money and we possibly see no more from them? It is not like flight sims are falling off trees. I will support to the best of my ability.

Also, I think 2 is feature frozen, so why ask?

 Er, I imagine that would be an odd and unsustainable way for a for-profit business to generate revenue.

best way to "donate" is to buy the sim (or more then 1)

Don't get me wrong I plane on upgrading just was wondering what the surprises or feature they are putting in..

I.E. Refuel tankers boom-arm and snorkels working in the on-line MP game...

I really would love to conduct some of those with people on line..

I'll even by that update for $60.00 alone worth more to me than BC2!

$15.00 or $30.00 for a product you can get several years of enjoyment out of is not a bad deal, just waiting on the release!

Any particular reason why everyone is eagerly encouraging ED to make their products more expensive? :no_sad: Maybe you folks have cash to burn (or mommy's cash to burn), but I work for a living. Let's stick with $30.

I am more than happy to pay if they increased to 60, the lockon flight sim itself is very complex in programming and alot of work... it is probably worse nightmare for people who like to make it simple programming game. What more there is no good decent flight sim on shelve in the market.

Keep up good work and squash all of those little bugs.

With the global economy the way it is now I'm a bit more conscientious with how I spend. $30.00 is not expensive; I guess the only thing that irks me is the delay but as an aspiring software engineer that's understandable.

How about a suggestion. As opposed to a big roll out of features how about a micro-transaction scheme that allows the end-user to be satisfied in the interim and ED to have revenue coming in the interim?

For example the new Su-25 3-D model would be available to users of FC2.0 for "X" amount of dollars. I'm just throwing this out there; might be a bit too late for this sort of idea as I do not know the intricacies of code that ED is using.

DLC might not be a bad idea. Microtransactions are an interesting business model. I suppose it could work from a simple art asset replacement. We keep seeing all those great new 3d models being made that are 10 fold better than the old hold-overs. Paying 3$ for a pack of a few models would interest some. I'd be more interested in a small mission editor update. But thats just me.

One of the reasons I love ED is that they DON'T do this sort of thing. If they want to boost their revenue, there are all sorts of ancillary products that they can and do sell, from training materials to navaids. There's no need to adopt the big publishers' worst practices in order to make a quick buck. The strength of the series lies in the fact that they continue to release high fidelity, complete products, and they don't try to nickel and dime their customers by selling core features as "DLC" (unlike the publisher who shall not be named). In this particular instance, the "big roll out of features" isn't merely an effort to boost revenue, although that's a potential benefit. They're closing out the FC series and showing their fidelity to their customer base by integrating it into the TFCSE engine, as the original owners of FC had been told they would for years (nearly five years, if memory serves).

I don't understand you people. ED goes: "it will be available early 2010 for 15 dolars".

And everyone goes "yey"

Than ED goes: "it will be out later and will be twice as much expensive". And people go "yey, yey"

My true opinino as a customer: I'm not happy with that change. Its not like i can't afford it. I could, even if it was 130 dollars but it is not the point. People go: " Iwould get it even for 60 bucks". Well, ED wont make their money from few maniacs, product gotta sell a lot of copies to make reasonable profit.

I bought basic LO in a shop for something like 5-7 dollars. Then i bought FC for some 15 bucks, but improvement was huge, so did'nt hesitate. If i'm to pay another 30 green ones, FC 2.0 its gotta be trully FC 2.0 not just FC 1.13 just called 2.0.

What will happened, its a lot of people, including myself, will not buy it at start. I will wait for opinions to decide if its worth its price.

To get more revenue ED should drop price to 15 bucks and sell 2-3, maybe 4 times more copies of it.

I will wait... Hope i will have to eat my own words ;)

You talk as if you came from the future, when more than 1 DCS game has been released :music_whistling:

Not sure which game/publisher you are referring to that sells "core features" as DLC. Yes some games go overboard with the sheer amount of extra content you can download, of note are Railworks train simulator and LittleBigPlanet. The latter is built around the concept of downloadable content since the result of player imaginations pretty much is the game. I consider myself quite knowledgeable of gaming, and I can't think of a single game that offers specific features as DLC. I fear you may be confusing DLC with DRM.

If I may point out 2 things:

1. In the first part you comment on the change itself, first announcing this, then that. To be honest, that's a double-edged sword. Yes, changes were made, but if you don't want changes to me made to announcements, it will not mean that news will stay as they were announced, but that announcements and informations will ONLY be released, once they are set in stone - for the future, that would mean no screenshots or information until the game has gone gold. I prefer the changes, especially since it's not only the price that changed, but also the quality and content. Quite fair, IMHO.

2. To be honest, I don't understand your second point. You noted you bought the game for 5-7 USD and FC for 15. Now, after the change in price you are upset and consider to not buy the game right away.

Heh, sorry to put my finger on it, but hey, you picked any previous release from the budget-table - what exactly is your change in strategy? :)
