Toadster Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Just saying that the early buyers alre almost always in for a bad surprise. Hardly anybody gets it right the first time. But don't get me wrong, i do think that the G940 is abysmal in this regard (from my own experience, thank god i got a refund by the vendor). It just would have been nice to have a proper working FFB stick to be able to fly helos as well. I can't imagine going from FFB back to a non FFB stick like the Cougar Warthog (for flying helos that is). Copy all Sobek. I am disappointed that the G940 hasn't live up to what it should have been so far (maybe not yet?). As for FFB for me.. not a pre-requisite, but since I currently fly the TM Cougar, I won't "miss it" (although what a great feature it would be to have a cool FFB stick for both LOFC & BS). Anyhoo, "When" I buy the TM Warthog, I'll be sure to post my personal review and thoughts, as as accurately and objectively as possible. S!

Revvin Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Its a shame the people who design and build their wheels don't design and built the joysticks as I've always found their wheels to be pretty bullet proof. I've never had one die on me yet over a number of generations of their wheels. Each time I upgrade its because they have designed a better wheel not because the other has broken. My old Logitech wheels are still working well on mates machines.

My old Logitech wheels are still working well on mates machines. I think the biggest problem at hand is that Logitech had no experience whatsoever in designing a HOTAS unit. It is apparent now that they have made some very bad decisions regarding the design of their software (reversal bug is actually not a bug but a feature to supress potentiometer noise, a rather poor means to do so, if you ask me) but god knows why it takes them so long to even it out. Hunt3r.j2 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 The only thing Logitech does right that I have seen over the past ten years or whatever are keyboards. Come to think of it I think I have been on a logitech keyboard for over ten years. Right now I use a G15 for the last 2 years. I do recommend the keyboards and thats all. Well their G series mouses and keyboards are good. I've had a G15 for a good 3 years and nothing bad has happened. I did have a G5 break on me, but that was because I bent the wire and eventually it went dead. I did have an MX Revolution die, but the battery died, which is normal.
Total Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I had a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I started having problems with it having only 50% X axis to the right and almost always drifting left (not physical movement, but how the computer saw it). Thought my stick had bummed, so I bought another one. Within a month, it starte doing the same thing. I checked around and found there were alot of complaints about it. Logitech made no driver updates or ever admitted that the joystick design was defective. Went Saitek and never looked back.
schkorpio Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/bd-p/pcgaming guys, CharlesB from logitech is compiling a list of issues, so that the fixes can get an accelerated release. I recommomend everyone go over there and post a new thread of each issue: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/bd-p/pcgaming hopefully that will get the software dev's into gear and make this HOTAS as good as it should be! sinelnic Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 And today CharlesB has confirmed officially that they're working on the 5.09 release of their software. Hopefully we will see some light. Besides that, why, on earth, is Logitech_Mark not saying anything? I find it incredible. It is as if this CharlesB got fed up because of the embarrassment his forums are subjecting him to, and started pushing things around to make something happen. Really lame. When all this is over I will write a case study on this. See, all this remains in the internets with direct links to Name and Last Name. This is a dynamic, real-time resume. If only for this, our friend Mark should react! emenance Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 In Marks defence ......we all get silenced by our boses sometimes. Somethings are just too big to continue anything on the subject at a certain time. Obviously this is what we have seen. A major fiasco aas far as our flight sim goes and really its turned into a technical hell im sure for some who have to work on it. Its not that interesting or worth writing about. The only real story here is how early the project hit the market without a real understanding of our flight sim. Thats about it. Scarecrow Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The reason Mark isn't commenting anymore is that his job is over. He got the product out and well known in the flightsim community, we trashed it and the horrible lack of support that they provide there isn't much more he can do for the G940 in any real sense and he's not ever going to have a honest dialogue about the project and it's shortcomings. The 5.09 release has been hinted at for quite some time, the win7 shift BSOD is enough to merit this, what is really worrying is that in his post CB stated that they were compiling a bug list, so 6 months down the road they're still only compiling a bug list. WTF they should be finalising the 5.09 software by now so we're still looking at least another 3-6 months before we'll get 5.09. And secondly the software engineer who is tasked 5.09 is female need I say more. 3

Downey Jr. Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I had a Logitech extreme 3D also...bought it for FS2004 absolutely criminal that every one of those sticks had the same problem of dying after a month...every single one and Logitech never refunded any money. I also bought CH and Saitek and never looked back...so nice to have controllers to stand the test of time.
EtherealN Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) And secondly the software engineer who is tasked 5.09 is female need I say more. I hope you'll never be employed in software engineering, since obviously you think it's your genitals that would be useful towards getting software made, rather than good organization skills. (Something that several militaries the world over have noticed that women have a statistical advantage in compared to men.) Some of the best software engineers I've made acquaintance with personally happened to be female, and the biggest problem they had in their careers were (self-censoring) people that didn't think they could write code just because they have a different set of genitalia. Whenever you wonder why your wife doesn't approve of your computer hobby, give a thought to the fact that whenever they try to get in on the fun they meet this kind of stupidity. Thankfully the vendor refunded me and i'm now waiting for either the g940 getting fixed or for some of the other upcoming HOTAS units. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa!
