When? I never heard of anything like that.... But Matt said a very popular US fixed wing. If not F-16, then between the F/A-18 and F-15. I prefer the F-15, but its likely not.

Right, but tester knows a little more than only "member". Is it correct?

For sure, we must wait for Official info from Matt. I think it will be F-15C (or AV-8B) but we will see.

It would be nice if it was an AV-8B. Since the manual was declassified. I was also hoping that was going to be an AH-64A... Promises... Taken by the wind... Eheh. :P

It isn't. The next aircraft is 'a very popular US fixed wing'.

It was announced the next DCS module after A-10C will be a US fixed wing aircraft. Sorry rotorheads, get in line for the fighter jocks. You already had a DCS fix

Well in another post somebody from ED mentions that it was one of the airplanes most dear to us all so take your own conclusions.

Perhaps a F-16 or F-15 I guess.

Just look at the poll... ;) Why not the F/A-18? (C or E?) (and the researches on the CVN-70 are good indications, no?)

I hope. BTW, I'm entertaining with the A-10C.

Don't look too much forward and enjoy the present day. Soooo much to learn in the A-10C before get bored. And if that happen, just fly online...

Well I don't know much about the game. It is developed by a really small indie team (devs blog here). The next chopper after the Apache will most likely be the CH-47 and IIRC there are also plans for a MH-60.

Can't say for sure about the accuracy of the sim but it looks like it's clearly aimed towards realism. No idea if it will met the level of DCS, probably not but I will definitely get my hands on this when it's released :)

When deciding what aircraft to do focus on in the next DCS game, what are the criteria you consider?

Matt Wagner: It truly does vary, but the most common reasons are:

1- Existing contract.

2- Access to very detailed documentation and subject matter experts (pilots of the aircraft).

3- How well it fits into our long-term TBS and DCS program plans.

4- How well we think the broad market will accept the product (not just our online forums).

And something really interesting from an older interview of Matt Wagner :

RPS: I remember Carl Norman talking vaguely of a combination armour-air combat sim in pre-LOMAC days. Is there any chance ED will ever travel that road?

Matt: Actually, the whole concept of the digital battlefield goes back much further. Microprose, Spectrum Holobyte, and then later SSI have all had aspirations of creating a unified battlefield environment that aircraft would be added to with add-ons/modules. What is old is new again it seems, and we see other companies trying to go down this route as well. What we are doing with Digital Combat Simulator will at least initially just focus on aircraft system (fixed wing and rotary wing). However, that is not to say that further down the road that we may not add land and sea elements that the player can control (either first person or third person in an RTS manner)
