My only issue with the hind is that we already have a Russian attack helo. After the next DCS: fighter, I would hope (of course if ED is going for real world contracts, we may see more US) that a US helo, or Russian attack/fighter would be next. Granted I'm going to only fly the Warthog or US fighters, but...

So having the Apache for me would be better first.

A-10C - FC3 - CA - L-39 - UH1 - P-51 - Hawk - BS2 - F-86 - Gazelle - F-5E - AV8B - F/A-18C

i5-4590 - GTX 1060 - Oculus CV1 - TM:Warthog

Even If I love US, I'm 100 % for russian stuffs.. so heavy, and complex to operate.. It's also a strange world for us, sim pilot who are used of FS, X-Plane etc.. so mainly Occidental Aircrafts..

When I discovered the KA-50, it was like a kind of new world for me. But I already miss a traditional russian aircraft with their unique blue colour.. Really hope to see it in DCS. One other reason is that I want a " real " helicopter, I mean conventional, with main rotor and tail rotor. The AH 64 is same configuration but more " futurist " with double tail rotor and ugly shape..

I'd love the Hind too- but I'd rather have it be a modern "flying legend". I'd like at least 1985+ tech on it. And a map of a 3rd world country to go terrorize too- Afghanistan, somewhere in Africa, it doesn't matter. The Afghanistan map would be best obviously, as we could do modern scenarios with US equipment and historical scenarios with Soviet equipment. And it's a real pretty country too, or so I hear.

Ah, the desert is sooooo boring ;) .. and I heard Nevada has plenty of it too!

How about some virtual Balkans?

Or Vietnam?! :music_whistling:

Vietnam yeah, I already thought it a while ago.. But ED is not so open minded. They wake their OWN choice, with no real logic. I imagined a Vietnam War campaing, as a Huey Pilot, doing Medevac Mission in the Jungle or Napalm bombing with powerful F4 Phantom, Or even escort the Rolling Thunder B-52 bombers from the Viet MiG's... But all that is not achievable yet, I think ( And I think they also think ) that not much people would get interested in that. They prefer doing the ultra devastator Aicraft (A-10) with many weapons to transform an ennemy Battlefield into a graveyard.. I think we only could expect that in 5-6 Years, when the modules will reach about 10-15 maybe.. but at that time, I hope that I'll fullful my dream : Heli Pilot in the ALAT.. and this didn't start with DCS, it started since I was able to walk !

Anyway, went back to the Hind, that would be a pretty nice idea ! I just finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call Of Pripyat today, and the evacuation in MI-24 just let me thinking.. in many FPS game, the ennemy chopper is a MI-24 ( or MI-8 in CoD).

I mean the Mil helicopters have a really great cultural impact in the East world. It's the MI-8 and MI-26 that helped during the Battle of Chernobyl, those same pilot who were called back from Afghanistan in '86.

In DCS:Black Shark, Many missions are based on a close collaboration between KA-50's and MI-24.. like in France teh Gazelle and the Pumas, the Huey and the Cobras in Vietnam or the Black Hawk and the Appache in actual US warfare.. The one is just nothing without the other..

I don't frequent the forum too much, does DCS dev sometimes answer on the threads ? I would love to have a kind of answer from them about the Hind. As Lock On is originally a russian product, I think ( and hope ! ) they are quite attached to their roots.

Maybe you're not so open minded?

They do.

Answer in what context? They won't tell you if they are working on any module until it's time to announce it.

the Mi24 was on the list of "airframes currently at some stage of pre-development" that ED talked about a few years back..it could totaly happen..

also on that list were: Mig29a, F16, AH64a ... can't remember now the rest, but yeah....its definately possible.

HIND is my preference too. Let`s be realistic. Information regarding to current planes helicopters are mostly classified. HIND is beautiful, retired and affordable. Why not. I`d be happy to learn to fly. With modern planes a lot of stuff, logic and so would had to be just assumed.

Actually, the reason you see so many more "graveyard" missions where there are bazillions of targets to kill and very little interaction with the AI otherwise is that it is vastly easier to build a "graveyard" mission than a very detailed CAS scenario with voice acting and the like.

The Mi-24 has always been the baddest-ass attack copter of all time, so yah, I second this most emphatically

You have a remarkable fascination with trolling every thread where people are wishing/discussing for a Hornet sim. Do you see any of us trolling F-15 wish threads? No.

Grow up.

What's the point, this is just another masturbatory thread, same as any other. It's not like I'm destroying anything constructive. I don't even understand the point of this thread, he just asked for a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with the Hornet except carrier ops. And stressing the importance of carrier work just makes this identical to every other F/A-18 thread, and like every other F/A-18 thread, I have to trash-talk what an ugly, completely useless airframe it is, that will go down in history as being dramatically underwhelming in every single way and has never once done anything important or impressive.

The point is that its disrespectful, rude, and contributes to making this forum a worse place to be? How about that?

It's not like the -18 can go underwater or something. Carrier ops = takeoff and landing, which constitutes like 2% of a sortie. The only real advantage here is opening up the sea as a staging area... in terms of actual flight simulation it doesn't add much.

Plus you aren't good until you can land a -15 on a carrier. The A-10C has become far too easy.

However, civility often looses ground to impatience and stress. It's not just Frosty that needs to take a step back here. No need to be so reactionary to a simple comment.

If there is one thing that is worse than people trying to interpret the end of the world into the Mayan calender ending, it's people trying to tell us that the next DCS module is the bug because of what domain names ED holds. :D

This.

A Hind + Huey with proper szenarios and missions would be sweet. I would prefer this over the Apache.
