Got a descent system and no matter how I tweak I can't get around the drop from 80 fps to 15 fps when I turn on the shkval in the su-25t.

I'm running FC2 on an i7 920, ATI 5870, 12 gb ram and win vista 64.

Any suggestions or is this going to be addressed in a patch ?

Best to use the search mate.. there are several threads already covering this issue.

I know I read them all, and no fixes. The point of the thread is to draw more attention to the issue or find a fix not already tried.

The devs and tester team are well aware of this issue and are investigating it. ;)

Same issue here... Hardly a gamekilling problem or anything but a bit dissapointing as I thought my system whould be able to handle it.

i7 920, Ati5770, 6GbRam and grotty ol' vista 64

Have been trying the zoom trick but naturally in the heat of battle I'm always forgetting and jamming up my framerates <GAAARRGH!> Panic then sets in and I am slamming keys and joystick bindings in a frenzy before plowing 10 meters into a hillside. I'm sure we've all done it (hopefully).

Good value on the replay tho :)

My only other suggestion is to pitch down to make sure you're target is in the centre of your sights before you uncage shkval. No/minimal slewing for me seems to help a little.

When/if a solution is found, the Su-25T will be sublime.

Posted

Buddha, bind your Shkval keys close to each other, for me it's a simple thumb move to zoom, lock on terrain, etc. Essentially I zoom the instant the Shkval is turned on, in one smooth motion.

Also, try setting up longer attack runs. If you're feeling pressed for time, slow down and start further away. :)

I think the technical issues here are formidable - I would be very surprised and impressed with ED if they came up with a 'magic bullet'. This is more of a hardware limitation - twice as much to render when the camera's on.

Why is it I do not get even close to the same FPS hit when I turn on the shkval in FC 1.12 in the Su-25T or in the DCS Ka-50? Seems a bit of a step back.

Thanks for the suggestions Lava, have done so but I when you get <10fps its get tough to understand what (if any) action your button mashing is causing!

I'll take your advise and institute some LOOOOOOOOONG lead-ins to target! I can learn to live with that. Either that or settle for lower resolutions - last resort. :( (NOOOOOO!)

I'll be the first to admit that co-ordination isn't my strongest suit however as anyone who's seen the Buddha fly will attest.

You can try and lower the cockpit screen resolutions from 512 to 256. It helps a bit... you might get an extra 5 or 10 fps if you haven't done that already.

Lower this, lower that, try this etc.

It's borked OK.

They have to fix it, I can run it fine with Black Shark and FC 1 with zero problems so stop making excuses about not being able to replicate it in house and fix your damn mistakes.

ED get cut to much slack round here at times.

We wait for stuff that should be done for far to long and tbh I'm quite fed up with them but as they are one of very few devs who are still making this sort of sim we are expected to put up with it.

Someone has to say it:thumbup:

No-One ever told you to ask nicely?

It's attitude like that that the Dev's have to put up with. Then some wonder why.........Oh hell, never mind - No good can come of it!

We all know that there is a performance - hit. Again, we are all aware that the issue is easily and instantly resolved by zooming in to x8 or x23. Easy as Pie - instant relief - or are you one of the select few who hunt targets at default view through the Shkval where you can see fcukall even on a good day, hence the necessity for Zoom-View?

Again - we all know that the issue is being worked on. Armed with all the knowledge that a cursory search would have yielded, what Pray tell was the purpose of the Rant as quoted, other than being blatantly Provocative?

The reason you do not see the same performance hit when using the Shkval on the Ka-50 is because it only has 2 FOV settings and the widest one is more narrow than the first FOV setting on the Su-25T, which is modeled to have 3 FOV settings. Therein lies the suggested - and likely ultimate solution to use the middle FOV setting as default. Furthermore, the rendering distance has been extended in FC2 compared to Black Shark to make the horizon extend further out at the higher operational altitudes of fast jets. This also impact performace in this case. Unfortunately, there is no magic code trick to fix this issue, besides eliminating the first FOV settings on the Su-25T Shkval.

Yea whatever, it still runs bad and it's only a small monotone screen.

It should have been fixed before release but ED just shove things out and fix em later. (If we're really lucky)

I love BS and I prefer FC 2 but that does not make it right that things are released like this.

It's poorly implemented, the fact modern systems have problems says that clearly!

You guys can all jump on the band wagon and trumpet ED all you like, I'm not happy with it.

Just shove things out and fix 'em later......... are you seriously saying FC2 is a buggy mess of a release? Have a look at Silent hunter 5 if you want to see what a hurried release is.

If all ED wanted was your cash, that'd be the state FC2 would be in, unfinished and unplayable.

I understand you are not happy but there were always going to be problems, no software is perfect. There was always intended to be a patch. They are aware of the problem. Their past record with regard to fixing stuff speaks for itself, wait and see.

You're not happy with it are you? I had the same problem initially actually...I freed up some HD space (my bootcamp partition is running low..underestimated my sim storage) but that helped a lot. Keeping screen rez of monitor down to 512 also helped a lot (go as low as 256 if it runs smooth)...she runs 70% better now. Also did some FPS tweaks suggested in previous threads.

The product was NOT rushed out in anyway so take it easy there with the assumptions, many would argue that it took TOO long. It's also not about jumping on the bandwagon...it's about your attitude in your post that pisses people off. You sound like a spoiled little child...no offense.

Bring it up in the tech section in a civil way and you'll most likely get some sort of temporary solution at worst.

Eagle Dynamics just "shove things out and fix em later". Yeah: that's why they tripled development time on FC2 instead of just releasing as is when the originally planned schedule was passing. Though I guess that was more just to annoy customers, not to give the product the time it needed for a solid release? See, there's always a negative angle to be pushed on anything, but refusing to do so isn't fanboyism, it's just a sign that you've been chill enough to consider the positive angles as well. ;)

Axel40, you need to chill out and get some perspective, and take EB's advice.

I'm happy with the fps after lowering water (the trick from DCS) and turning off heat blur. I also locked my fps at 30 and now my shkval works fine in all zoom levels. I use 1024 cockpit. Running native display resolution 1920x1200.

Easy Ladies and Gentlemen. ED fix it in first patch for FC2. Like They said: ".... eliminating the first FOV settings on the Su-25T Shkval".

At this time, I don`t see any computer, on which I could play FC2 comfortably with turn on Shkval.

So, We`re waiting for the patch now ...

Best regards!

Hope ED won't do this. At least let users save default FOV for those who wants it as is.

I don`t think so. Su-25T is very popular airplane in the game (maybe the most popular). A lot of people flying him, and ED can`t allow to leave this situation without any reaction.

In the most wortest situation are players, who has weak computers. Su-25T is completely unplayable for him.

I believe in You ED.

Best regards.

I understand it, however deleting supposedly REAL feature in Su-25T due to probably *don't know* weak LO code is NOT true solution.

If you have weak computer use it only in 8x zoom (second one). Is it so hard to press plus key on keyboard or bind key to get immadietly 8x magnification just after "O" press? Don't think so ;]

I think they "tripled" development time because they shoved it on the back burner while they worked on more lucrative military simulation type stuff:music_whistling:

What, I'm wrong about that as well?

Look, I just call it as I see it, it's not working properly, my machine is well up to spec (I'm a flight simmer fer god's sake ) and guys, get this: A guy here gets 80 fps and turns on and gets 15 :megalol:

Yea, it's not borked at all, my mistake.
