power5 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That rain is a nice effect, but its such a short loop. Either needs to be completely random, or a much much longer loop. The mk-83 is exclusive to the USN not the Air Force. At least it was so in the 90's but I haven't heard any diferent. the -82's and -84's are both adequate for their different target types. Eddie Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Will the JDAM ER's be in the invatory? whin can we have the full list of weapons that will come with the A-10C No, they are not used by the A-10C. I'm sure ED will release a full list of weapons and other features closer to release, the project is still very much a work in progress at the moment.
digitaljjd Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Is there any way our new A-10C's can be tricked out with some cool ladder door art...like these?
Focha Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 That video just reminded me of how awesome the nightime missions will be. I hope that they (ED) do some kind of rain effect. It's pretty numb to have wipers in the kamov and when you are in rain you don't need it because there is actually no rain. Never saw a good representation of rain in videogames/simulations. Hope they do something, I think it was intended to integrate some rain effects on the black shark windshields. Best regards. Poor mans sniper Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Okay, 3 more questions for you guys: 1. Will firing the gun for a prolonged amount of time cause a stall? 2. Will all weapons be more accurately modeled and function more like in real life? 3. Will bombing play a part of the campaign, or does it matter about preference of weapons?
ED Team Olgerd Posted September 2, 2010 ED Team Posted September 2, 2010 Okay, 3 more questions for you guys: 1. Will firing the gun for a prolonged amount of time cause a stall? No, because every time trigger is pulled, engines ignition is activated. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Avilator Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 No, because every time trigger is pulled, engines ignition is activated. I think maybe he means an aerodynamic stall, not an engine failure. AlphaOneSix Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Still, no. You'll run out of ammo long before you lose that much airspeed...unless maybe you were barely above stall speed to begin with, and you didn't increase the throttle at all.
Avilator Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Also, for the physics to allow it, you'd have to be in level flight or climbing. There would really be no reason to fire the gun in either circumstance. 1 I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" Deadman Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Shooting down a enemy Aircraft in either situation,Gun runs on ground targets on hills in level flight and climbing. Avilator Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Alright, point taken. Anyway, you'd have no reason to be that close to stall speed while making a gun run. Poor mans sniper Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Huh, my A-10 book said stalls from firing the cannon were Uncommon, mostly due to bad pilots. Now, the other 2 questions ;)
GGTharos Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 The smoke from the gun would choke the engines, which would cause a compressor stall. This was alleviated by firing the engine ignition constantly while the trigger is depressed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
CAT_101st Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 This was alleviated by firing the engine ignition constantly while the trigger is depressed. is this a hint for things to come :detective: Home built PC Win 10 Pro 64bit, MB ASUS Z170 WS, 6700K, EVGA 1080Ti Hybrid, 32GB DDR4 3200, Thermaltake 120x360 RAD, Custom built A-10C sim pit, TM WARTHOG HOTAS, Cougar MFD's, 3D printed UFC and Saitek rudders. AlphaOneSix Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Now, the other 2 questions ;) Okay. #2. More accurate/more like real life than what? #3. Weapon selection is up to you, as long as the mission goals are achieved, the process by which you achieve them is irrelevant.
lubey Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 The mk-83 is exclusive to the USN not the Air Force. Scabbers Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Alpha I whole hardely disagree with #3. Weapon selection is made based on threat level. if you can make a run with the cannon with minimal risk to taking ground fire then that is good. but if not then a longer range bomb toss or rocket/maverick attack would be called for. I mean it really is just common sense. Dont make a dangerous gunzo run just for the thrill. They would ground that guy/gal. Now where is that speed brakes control again? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The question was for the DCS:WH sim, not for real life procedures, check the thread title :music_whistling: Even if it wasnt, there are other factors aswell that matters. (ROE, weather/visibility, proximity to friendlies, the nature of the target, monetary and logistic cost and availability etc..)
