DCS A-10C QUESTIONS

In the flight sim when engaging with rockets on a target the sight changes to external view locked on the rocket flight whereas I lose the target on the hud for furhter firing. How can I deactivate this sight shift and just stay in view in the cockpit? Thanks

 

Are you in gaming mode? I never experienced sth. similar in a10c.

As mentioned above, it happens in Sim mode and only with rockets... It is really weird!

Are you using a profile of any kind for your controller, that might be incorrectly sending keystrokes? The weapon views are F6 and LCtrl+F6 so that's probably the main thing to look out for. Edit: actually it sounds more like the option Corrigan found (next post below), "Toggle tracking fire weapon" - default binding seems to be RShift + Num+ (i.e. the numpad + key plus right-shift).

 

Are you interacting with TrackIR at all? I think F7 is one of its default hotkeys so maybe if trying to hit that you might hit F6 by accident, or a profile invoking it might be misconfigured.

That feature surprised me too, upon installing the latest update. It's a mode, find "Toggle tracking fire weapon" in the "View Extended" options and hit that key.

I think it is the control system of the video recorder. It is nonfunctional in the sim AFAIK.

 

edit: Googled the exact name of it. It is DVADR REMOTE CONTROL PANEL

 

DVADR means Digital Video Airborne Data Recorder

Left throttle not functioning - TM Warthog HOTAS

 

Just got this Warthog hotas and I'm a real beginner with it, and with the A10c game.

Please point me to the right forum/thread if one is out there that answers my question.

I've searched for a similar question in these forums but found nothing. I must not be

searching very well because I'm sure questions like mine must have been asked before.

 

I'm not using any T.A.R.G.E.T. software profile, etc. In DCS A-10, I can jump into

"Instant action" or "quick mission builder" and the right throttle works just fine --

it moves in the in-game virtual cockpit, and the instrument dials move appropriately

in the virtual dash for the right throttle. But nothing moves when I operate the left

throttle. Same thing happens on the ramp when I step through the startup sequence.

 

Options -> Controls -> Layer: A-10C Sim, AXIS Commands, I multiple-click on the

"Throttle Left" box under the "Throttle-HOTAS Warthog" column to get the pop-up

"Add Assignment Panel". I move the left throttle forward and back ---> nothing

happens. But if I move the right throttle "JOY_Z" appears in the "Key/Button" cell.

Of course, "Current assignment" also shows "Throttle Right" at that point.

 

Hope this does not mean that I've got a bad hotas throttle that needs repairs.

Check the Windows Control Panel applet to see if the axis moves there. Also, make sure your firmware is up-to-date though I doubt that would impact this issue.

Doesn't sound promising. I'd check it out in the Windows' game controllers calibration screen.

 

Control Panel -> Devices & Printers -> right click on a game controller and select "Game controller settings". Then select "Throttle - HOTAS Warthog" from the list and press the Properties button.

 

You'll get a dialog up that shows all the buttons and axis on the throttle. Try moving them and pressing them and see which ones light up. If I recall correctly, the X/Y axis is the cursor slew mini-stick, the "Z axis" is the left throttle, "Z rotation" is the right throttle.

 

If the left throttle isn't working there, then I'd say you probably have a broken unit. :(

However, with DCS A-10C I have no problem with throttle.

 

Just wanted to say that what you see in Windows 8 Game Controllers doesn't necessarily tell everything.

 

With Croaker's throttle, I think there might be a loose wire or something else wrong.

Yes I'm using TrackIR 5. I rechecked my Saitek X52 Profile and I've indeed located the misconfiguration that caused this shift to "Toggle tracking fire weapon"...

hey how do you guys spot infantry? i know they are easy to find when they are shooting, but other than that i have to use labels to find them. any pointers?

From an aircraft, you don't. Not unless there are ground forces, specifically a JTAC, to mark and direct you to their position.

Okay up and running on the A10c without too much pain. Doing gun runs, launching mavs, and lasing up peeps in the TGP for the GBUs.

 

I even finally got the nav lights figured out.

 

One thing is plaguing me though.

 

Aircraft trim.

 

What is the deal?

 

It gets to the point where the plane is violently going left right and out of control.

 

I'm hammering LCtrl + T but nothing is resetting. I'm desperately trying to counter-trim the planes seemingly SUPER assrape trim, but it's no use. No amount of RCtrl + ; , . / z x < > up down doesn't help. It ends up destroying the hyrdaulics and the master caution for low hyd pressure sounds after about a minute of wrestling with the beast.

 

What am I doing wrong?

wow, this is after dropping weapons right? the loss of weight after dropping/ launching something is causing the plane to roll. just trim it a little in the opposite direction of the roll and you should be set

Yeh I noticed sometimes the plane veers to the left usually so I try to correct it, when I do though (and I use the keyboard for this), I get a massive blast of trim in one direction. On review I think it just couldn't cope with the amount of trim commands, flew another hour killing about 60 units and it didn't happen. :thumbup:

 

Basically every 3 or 4 seconds the plane would just try and roll onto it's belly and go into a dive.

i have never used the keyboard to input trim commands. maybe you are holding the button down too long? you should think about getting a joystick......if you already have one you should map a hat switch to trim. might help.

what could have happened is you had the autopilot on. the ALT/Bank hold doesnt like to go off easily when you input stick commands. path hold and alt/heading goes off easily. i just spent like 10 seconds battling the auto pilot before i realized what was going on.

The ' key works by itself bringing up the player pool & L-alt works by itself in combo with L-Tab switching to desktop. Yesterday it worked once while holding down the L-alt & repeatedly selecting the ' key, but couldn't get it to work any other time on two different servers. Any ideas plz?

May be Coalition for the Airport is set to neutral in the mission? This seems to be new default setting and missions need to be opened and set to blue or red coalition manually for each airport...:(
