ppucds Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks for the reply Manuel!I was aware of the VVI needing to be essentially straight and level to engage. I tried the mission again last night and auto pilot worked. Go figure right after I posted my question. Is there a speed prerequisite for the auto pilot? I.E. <300 knots? Also, I got the Mav to slave last night too...I think I was pushing C instead of V. SMH (blush)
wizbomb Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hello all i am new to this game, in fact I am 1 hour new to this game and i happen to come across this video and for the life of me i cant figure out how this guy is doing this, worst part is he is a noob too :p Skip to 07:57 and you will notice while he is starting the plane up from cold he is doing something to single out the panels and select the buttons, this would make my life so much easier because I am NOT the proud owner of a TrackIR and find myself doing dumb things to press hidden buttons Thanks in advance
rss0900 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Is the Nevada map still going to be free to those who puchased A10C earlier in Beta?
Yurgon Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Skip to 07:57 and you will notice while he is starting the plane up from cold he is doing something to single out the panels and select the buttons, this would make my life so much easier because I am NOT the proud owner of a TrackIR and find myself doing dumb things to press hidden buttons I'm not sure whether you have discovered mouse look yet. Hit LALT + c once to switch to mouse look. In this mode, you can use the mouse to pan around the cockpit and zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Hit LALT + c again to return to the standard mode where you can click buttons with the cursor. Another thing would be snapviews. They can be activated with LWIN + the keypad number keys. Snapviews focus one particular panel/instrument while held down and return to the previous view as soon as you let go of the keys. Other than that, take a look at the controls under Options -> Controls -> A-10C Sim/Game -> View (as well as View Cockpit). (Game mode or Sim mode depend on Options -> Gameplay -> Game Flight Mode checked or unchecked).
Yurgon Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Is the Nevada map still going to be free to those who puchased A10C earlier in Beta? Never heard anything to the contrary (I'm usually one to defend ED and their decisions, but having purchased the A-10C Beta myself, I would be fairly angry if Nevada wasn't free anymore). But the real questions seems to be when it'll be released. :)

Thanks for the reply, just wanted to see if anything had changed. Back to the cockpit!
Keithustus Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 So there are maps other than Georgia/Russia? Where do I find them?
sobek Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 So there are maps other than Georgia/Russia? No, not yet. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Eight Ball Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) I was wondering something about formation lights. IIRC, in early versions of the game it was possible to turn on the formation lights only, without any other lights on. Now when you turn them on there's also 2 white lights lighting up on top and under the fuselage aswell as 2 others illuminating the tail. Is this normal ? I vaguely remember a discussion about those lights saying they were low-visibility lights, easily spottable if you were near the plane but almost impossible to see from the ground. With all those white light lighting up at the same time it kinda kill the purpose of low-vis. Or did I miss something ? Refresher from Wags in the Nevada Map / EDGE thread (so fresh that the pixel paint is still wet :)): 4- There has been no change in our plan to make this map available for free to those that purchased the A-10C beta. [...] 6- We have no ETA at this time. I'd say "Take as long as you need", but seeing as they don't listen to me, they're probably going to do just that anyways. :)

shagrat Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 You did install DCS World AND the A-10C module with Admin rights, did you? That is right click the installer and choose "run as administrator "... It sounds like you're running the executables directly. This won't work, as the game binaries need the working directory to be set to the main install location, rather than the "bin" subdirectory in which they live. If you use the shortcuts the installer creates, it should be fine. If you can't use them you'll need to create a shortcut yourself which has the correct working directory. Attached screenshot might make it a bit clearer if the above didn't make sense.
enreka_tr Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Dear friends, Thank you so much! After posting here, I install it again at same directory, without uninstalling previous files AND clicked directly desktop icon and worked! No origin needed. -I'm not able to see multiplayer servers btw- But hey,it has 700pages of manual, wow... I fly with FSX some time but this will be a complete different galaxy for me :) Thanks again
Manuel Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Good luck and have fun reading the manual ;) PC: Asus P8Z77-M Mainboard; Intel i5-3570K (4x3,4Ghz) mit Scythe Mugen 3 CPU Kühler; 16Gb Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz; Nvidia GTX570 1280mb; Samsung 830 SSD; Samsung HDD Flight Sim Gear: TM Warthog; Saitek Pro Pedals; TM Cougars on an 19" screen; TrackIR 5 w/ trackclip pro; Logitech G35 headset
shagrat Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 No origin needed. -I'm not able to see multiplayer servers btw- Check, that you updated to the latest version (1.2.2.7570) in the Main Launcher Window bottom right corner. Then you need to create an account for online play, Usually the Multiplayer window should ask you to crate an account first time you start MP. Also check that you are not in LAN mode but select "Internet". To HOST you will be requiered to configure a port in your router, to JOIN a server this is NOT required. Have fun with your new toy! schkorpio Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Hey guys, got my saitek combat rudders today - very nice :) Just wanted to check how the wheel brake on the A-10 is meant to work, because by default its put the pedals as FULL BRAKE, unless i push the pedal down. Is this the normal way it works in the hawg? or should i invert it so that you push the pedals down to apply brakes - like in a car. Sponsored by: http://www.ozpc.com.au
schkorpio Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 thx :) Sponsored by: http://www.ozpc.com.au
enreka_tr Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Thanks again, Btw I check dir and saw that it installed a different dir so it didnt overwrite the old one, I want to correct that. And I will check game version today, does launcher update it automaticly or do I have to do it manually? And one more: Does this forum -or you as a group- have a teamspeak channel to chat and play?
ralfidude Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 So I just watched an A-10 HUD video of a strafe at 80 degrees and 450 knots. Am I missing something or shouldn't the engines have died of overspeed? (link ) [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Eddie Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 That's a 'DCSism'. There are a few things 'not quite right' about the engines in DCS.
Sierra99 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Also UV based systems like that on the A-10C aren't perfect and produce false indications often, they are also unable to determine if a "missile" is actually heading for their host aircraft or not. So while they are useful in low intensity conflicts, they aren't so great in high intensity warfare where missiles are flying all over the place. So in this respect, A-10 C is accurate, everyone gets to enjoy the launch indication and discuss exactly WHO said missile is after...?
