Just finished browseing over the website now that its up and one feature really sparked my interest.

Could the Battle Feild Commander Mode be elaborated on?

Is this feature available in multiplayer mode?

If so, will that be a 1 seat slot for BFC inspace of an aircraft in the lobby of a server? or will each player flying A-10C have access to this mode?

and/if each player has access can each pilot be given control over a select element assigned to his craft? or control the entire map?

and does it have indepth set to tools to give other pilots commands through a interface for e.g. select a group of craft scroll a heading, and pick from a drop down and click send?

Asparagin might be referring to the FPS issues........at least, that's how I understood it :)

Since no comment, I take it as a bad sign.

......do you have the same performance problems with the Targeting Pod (when viewed through) as with the shkval in SU-25 (FC 2.0)?

OK - there are soooo many variables in play here that my conclusions have to be taken with a degree of circumspect: First and foremost, as always, WIP and thus subject to change. Second, various settings in TGP (desired Zoom/FOV level etc etc) have an effect on FPS. Third, results obviously system-dependant. The list goes on........That said - I am running the Alpha with my PC on pretty much Max settings bar scenes on medium (personal preference for less trees). Quick test was conducted as I would normally identify/prosecute targets, ie Angels 15-20/TGP slaved to target area at a range of approx 30nm and closing.

Results as follows:

Rural areas - loss of approx 2-5 FPS when TGP toggled on. Search and locate targets with no deviation from original FPS Loss.

Urban areas - attempted to search for units located in Krasnodar City. With WFOV a 5-10 FPS drop. Toggling to NFOV bumps it back up to a 2-5 FPS drop over the City (Personal preference again favours NFOV when attempting to locate and identify targets).

[WFOV = Wide Field of View]

[NFOV = Narrow Field of View]

Thx a lot for info, still looks a bit better that the fps drops in FC 2.0.

Even after bearing in mind all the "health warnings" (Alpha build, still WIP etc)

I'd also like to know what sort of FPS Viper gets on Av, as my spec is very similar.

Pretty please. :)

Lighten Up.

I don't see anywhere in my post saying that I was "concerned".

As the talk was of FPS, increasing or decreasing with various configs, I added to someone elses question of what was his overall FPS with his setup, which is similar to mine. :censored:

Loz, I think it was more of a joke. As you may know, i7 being one of the most powerful cpus now days, you won't have any bigger issues running the game ;)

LARS and Binos

Hi all, very much looking forward to the release of this game (obviously!), but two quick questions; do we know if LARS and the use of Binoculars will be featured? Can't see either mentioned on the DCS site and I notice the LARS antenna don't appear in any of screenies I've seen. So just wondering.

Thanks in advance.

Don't think Binocs will be featured cause we can get to carry the Litening II (spelling?) pod. Which is much more useful.

No idea what a LARS antenna is or does though.....

Loss of performance will always have to be there when viewing through Shkval/Maverick screen because then in addition to having to render visual number of normal terrain objects (trees, houses vehicles) there is now rendering of same objects again in Shkval/Maverick Screen.

The "secret" to having less impact to this is to have limited distances in Shkval/Maverick screen. Cuurently, you can see trees 50-60km away in Shkval where as in normal view distance at which they are rendeered in much less (if you zoom in distance is increased but there is no extra performance loss because the FoV is smaller menaning there are less objects in the FoV).

LARS is Lightweight Airborne Recovery System, found on AFRES and ARNG jets, used to locate downed aircrew during CSAR.

binos would be great in the a-10a as in FC2...im always complaining about that lack of standard issue equipment. in the a-10c though perhaps they are less used.

I think not as each laser has its own desig code. The soldier on the ground will have to comm with the pilot and tell him the code he is using so that the pilot can program this into the kit. I havent read anywhere that this has been modelled but I could well be wrong.

Something tells me the crews will still carry them though.
