Sel94 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I saw FSX and I think it's pretty cool, what do you guys think? I would like a simulator like that but was wondering if it was good. Also, does microsoft provide a website to buy FSX with a credit card? I am lazy and would like to save a trip to the store. I also saw some of the addons for it and the F-35 looks awsome, but I would like your opinios first. Thanks!
walker450 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I like it myself. I fly in RL (private pilot) and find it useful for practice. It seems that X-plane is also a good program with a lot of users, but I haven't used it myself. Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod
SUBS17 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 FSX is an awesome sim I have made full use of it you can buy it cheap on ebay I'd suggest you get the delux version plus try to get the acceleraion pack with it if you can. FSX has a ton of features such as not only a bunch of flyable aircraft but also it can be used to train you in aircraft instruments and procedures. It also has some quite entertaining missions which include flying airliners(747, A320 etc) and doing some cool stuff. The missions are quite entertaining and on a good PC the graphics can be quite awesome. MP I have run into problems with gamespy but found ways around those connection issues by using rooms that have less people in the lobby. Combat is not yet possible but there are people working on that at the moment so it may well happen sometime in the next couple of years.:pilotfly: [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Stretch Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 FSX is very fun to fly 100% because of the missions. If it weren't for the missions I'd have probably flown around a few times, checked on some of the scenery, then moved on. I have Aerosoft's Flight Tales and a few other mission packs and it's very fun. The experience of learning instruments really appeals to me, and so does the fact that there is the whole world to explore! I was watching "Worlds' Most Extreme Airports" and now I really want to land on them. In fact, the only thing really holding me back(other than money) is my flight stick. I tried the demo and my stick has me constantly ruddering! On the bright side, it just broke today:)
Mnemonic Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Too bad FSX team was fired by Microsoft at the beginning of the crysis.
Boberro Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 IMHO FSX is good simple game with nice graphics.... nothing too complicated ;] Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
ED Team f-18hornet Posted July 26, 2010 ED Team Posted July 26, 2010 IMHO FSX is good simple game with nice graphics.... nothing too complicated ;] Do you know PMDG and Level-D addons? These are not a simple addon for FSX which you probably know.:joystick: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GeForce RTX 2080Ti, 32 GB DRAM, HOTAS TM Warthog, FSSB R3 Lighting, MFG Crosswind, Win 10 Pro
-Nighthawk- Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Too bad FSX team was fired by Microsoft at the beginning of the crysis. Yep stupid move on Microsoft's part. Aren't a lot of the developers working on creating a new sim though?
Avilator Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I have FSX myself with some higher-realism addons. I have the T-6 from Alpha-Sim, PMDG's J-41, RealAir's SF260 and Duke, A2A simulatons' Stratocruiser with Accu-Sim, Captian Sim's 757, the L-39 from LotusSim and VoxATC. I don't have any scenery addons, though, I'm more into reading the 500 pages just to know how to start the engines!:book::D I saw that same show about the airports, too. Most of those fields are not represented very well in default FSX scenery. If you want to make the most out of visiting them, get some addon packs that include these fields. One airport I think they forgot to include: Innsbruck. One of the default missions has you flying the LOC DME west in a snowstorm! Fun. If you have any instrument-related questions, ask away! empeck Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 IMHO FSX is good simple game with nice graphics.... nothing too complicated ;] You should try some advanced additional planes then. Many of them blows all combat sims (DCS and Falcon excluded) out of the water.

SUBS17 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Yeah the VRS has quite an awesome flight model although I am looking forward to one day trying to fly the Pro Superhornet down the jet canyon race fully loaded. It will have an extreme flight model. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Avilator Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 What's this jet canyon race, I'm interested. My L-39 and I might come up to play.:joystick: I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" digital_steve Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 FSX is great with scenery addons I love flying a Cessna with the ORBX Blue South addon and seeing the sights over my city. element1108 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7OelDYBS5Q&feature=related FSX with that cockpit is pretty darn cool! ;)
SUBS17 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 What's this jet canyon race, I'm interested. My L-39 and I might come up to play.:joystick: It comes with FSX Acceleration, its a MP mission. I've taken a fully loaded VRS Superhornet through it, its quite tight in places.:joystick: [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Avilator Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 We should get together sometime and try that, it looks fun!:joystick: I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! XLR8 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Didn't know if anyone knows, but Dino released his very nice and affordable F35 http://secure.simmarket.com/dino-cattaneo-f-35-lightning-ii.phtml
M31 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 FSX ... IMHO was a flawed masterpeice, its a shame to think that this might be the last GA sim from MS ... you can say what you like about Bill Gates, but he always supported the MS FS series, now that he's gone its become quite evident what's happened in Microsoft, the Aces FS team fired, other folk like Aerosoft taking up the mantle, old MS teams getting together and going their own way ... We'll just have to wait and see, its still to early to say for sure ... But MS FSX still looks good, post release we have seen a multitude of add-ons, FSX has been transformed by third party developers
spyda Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 i fly fsx from time to time i run tile proxy and its great id recommended tile proxy for a better experience  HP TouchSmart IQ816 / 25.5" HD touch screen / 9600GS 512/ Core 2 Duo 2.16 / 4GB RAM / VISTA 64 / CH Fighterstick
Steel Jaw Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Microsoft is working on new flight simulator. Hope they get it right this time, FSX was a cluster f@ck. empeck Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It has some problems, but still there is no better civilian flight sim. XPlane 10 may change it though.
Python Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) I love it but its flawed in many ways, if only MS would invest a little in fixing it!! it could be a masterpiece. Perhaps MS will make up for it with their new title... Microsoft flight? Edited August 19, 2010 by Python [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
