Laud Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I personally never use all the three modes of the X-52pro. Just use the buttons in one mode plus some of them shifted. Also I feel very comfortable with my touchscreen using TouchBuddy instead of struggling with all the modes of the HOTAS. I can absolutely recommend this combination! I'm sure this will be perfect for any future DCS-module too. sobek Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) You'll have forever to set everything up going in to kill something on a slow moving A-10. I'll remind you of that sentence after your first sortie on the virtual battlefield. ;) Edited September 12, 2010 by sobek 1 Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Eddie Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I'll remind you of that sentence after you first sortie on the virtual battlefield. ;) Indeed, 250-300 knots might sound slow to a fighter jock, but trust me it isn't.
NotiA10 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I wouldn't be too worry about a HOTAS lack of buttons and programming ability until DCS: Fighter come out. You'll have forever to set everything up going in to kill something on a slow moving A-10. i guess it comes down to what ever you mean by "something" and what is around trying to protect this "something" :megalol: :pilotfly: NotiA10 CoolerMaster HAF RC-932 - Intel Core i7 950 - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R - Kingston DDR3 6GB - Gigabyte Radeon HD 5870 EF 6 Edition - Western Digital 640GB SATA-III - CoolerMaster 700W - TrackIR Pro 4 - Saitek X52 - Saitek Rudder Pedals - Hotas Warthog

You'll have forever to set everything up going in to kill something on a slow moving A-10. Totally disagree. The HOTAS set-up in the A-10C is a 21st century system that is actually pretty complicated. You might not spend much time using HOTAS in air-to-air mode, but it is, IMHO, essential for killing anything on the ground while handling threats, wingmen and navigation. Eddie Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 "Durandal 1-2, Durandal 1-1 bandit bearing 120 for six-zero angels(metrics) 5, cold". This roughly translates into, "Durandal 2, this is flight lead, there is a bandit on a heading of one-two-zero(true). The bandit is at a range of sixty nautical miles and flying at an altitude of five thousand feet. He is heading towards us (hot (heading away would be called cold)). Your radio message it that situation should be as follows. "Durandal 1-2, Durandal 1-1 bandit bearing 120 for six-zero, 5 thousand, cold". It was already pointed out previously that you had confused heading and bearing, but make sure not to confuse angels as well. Both angels and cherubs calls refer to friendly aircraft. When referencing hostile/bandit/bogey aircraft use thousand or hundred.
Poor mans sniper Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Those illumination and smoke rockets sound amazing for certain co-op strategies.
HiJack Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Those illumination and smoke rockets sound amazing for certain co-op strategies. You got smoke rockets in the FC2 A-10A also. I belive it's on the 10th reload selection (F10). They mark the target area for ages :D

JEFX Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 ME questions As far as I am concerned, there are two functions of the ME that are dearly missing and I really would appreciate if someone from the TEAM could answer these, please : Will there be a copy/paste function (essential in my opinion) in the ME? and for gameplay immersion : Will it be possible to print the briefings, flight plans and maps directly from the pre-flight briefing page? That would be so nice and realisitc.. thanks in advance!:) JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
JEFX Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I have another special request for the editor. I dont know if this is of general interest but I believe it is really a small thing to implement : is it possible to make the tools palettes (left and right sides) of the ME floating palettes so we can move them around ? I have a large screen and find myself constantly moving from extreme left to extreme right all the time?? thanks! JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... nomdeplume Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Will there be a copy/paste function (essential in my opinion) in the ME? Yes, this is mentioned on the web page. I don't know about printing or floating palettes. I would think the latter is very unlikely, and the former is rather unlikely. Though it would be nice to have some printer- or second-monitor-friendly briefing materials for each mission.
JEFX Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Yes, this is mentioned on the web page. . I dont understand, I look very carefully through the whole page, used the search function of my browser, etc and still cannot find any reference to a copy and paste unit function ??? Where do you see this on the webpage? thanks JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
leafer Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 This reminds me of something that has been frustrating me since the original Flanker: no way of knowing if the unit I just placed is where I intending it to be. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Sarge55 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 JEFX, Perhaps he's refering to "cloning", see extract below. JEFX Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 JEFX, Perhaps he's refering to "cloning", see extract below. Revised trigger system interface including cloning, trigger re-ordering, and OR rules Yeah, that cloning pertains only to the triggers, not to the actual units in the ME (that take so much time editing all the time...) Laud Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Yap, beeing able to copy and paste units, including their loadout, waypoints and task would be somehow essential! nomdeplume Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Sorry, you're right, the web page does only refer to the trigger system. Strange. Blindspot's mod allows you to duplicate groups...
JEFX Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Nom de plume, what are you reffering to as 'Blindspot's mod'??? I have never heard of it? Is it for BS or for FC2? And can it really copy groups in ME? I would love to use that in FC2... thanks JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust...
