It's an old project, one man show, but a good one. I follow this for years. :thumbup:

 

Old project or not using the ledwerks engine is a massive step forward IMHO.

 

One man show? Jesus...............fairplay! Max kudos and respect to him. I for one will be supporting by purchase.

Looks promising.

 

Pity really about the postage-stamp sized map........Effectively puts an end to the contemplation any type of modern battlefield scenario.

They've also talked about a possible MH-60 addon. Would be awesome, finally a spiritual sequel to Longbow :)

More a question of how many hours of work to be spend on.

 

Remember: The team consists of 3 people working on the project in their spare time + a few people adding graphics. With this team you can't programm the world in full detail in just a few weeks ;)

When you follow something for years, you respect it Tyger. His afford is tremendous and the quality of his work is self exhibited.

 

We just give defferent meaning to the phrase "One man show" I see. :)

Looks very, very good. Can't wait to see the end results. What are your thoughts on the sim? Would be great to have a competitor for the Black Shark - Looks like they're going all out on the FM and avionics too!

Alternative hardware we were looking at was Kinect for hand-tracking for operation of virtual MFDs, at least until the "non-commercial" nature of Microsofts Kinect SDK came to light. So until there's clarification on Microsoft's SDK usage, plans for virtual cockpit operation via Kinect will be shelved.

I wonder if they will make bigger maps?

They plan to have streaming terrains later, though I think the map size is big enough for a helicopter sim. More details on the ground and collidable trees are more important then boring large terrain me thinks.

The reason for the 40x40 map is due to the limitations of the leadwerks engine that they are using for development. Richard 'Flex' will be looking towards a newer engine & incorporating other engine technologies (e.g. he has just purchased a Grome3 license). The main stumbling block is financing.

 

They intend to release a working version on the Helo along with a U.S. based firing range & terrain map first to finance further development whilst he works on the DC and the Afghan map. He then intends to release further modules to Combat Helo in the form of new Heli's the first being the ch47. The MP will be Coop only. The Apache will be 2 player coop or 1 player + 1 AI.

 

Richard is immensely knowledgable of the pc games industry & has a canny knack of knowing what works & what doesn't. I wish him well with this project. It is definately shaping up v nicely.

I'd love to see bigger maps too, but I'll buy CH at day one anyway. They don't claim their sim will be DCS quality, they rather want to make a simulation game in similar fashion to old sims where gameplay and fun were as important as true vehicle simulation. Flexman is known person since Longbow 2 days, and I trust he will deliver a good product.
