MTFDarkEagle Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I've had that on a couple of posts.. But when I give rep now, it works no problem.. 1 Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
hitman Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 (edited) Oh man, I remember that stupid useless thread. I hope we never see such again. What about the "can`t give rep" problem? I dont even see why you should care about it anyways. It does absolutely nothing. You know what would be even better than the system we have now? A green box for those who post good, relevant posts/topics, and a red box for those who troll. Why concern yourself over something so trivial as a bunch of green boxes with a number anyways? Why concern yourself over something so trivial as a bunch of green boxes with a number anyways? It`s not much of a concern to me, but since I give rep for posts that I like, be it a nice photo, or a valuable info or just a funny joke, I feel like I`m giving rep for something. Giving rep for nothing makes all the rep system senseless. Whether it will have levels or not (green/red box) it doesn`t matter. With the green/red box system a "free rep day" can also clean you pretty fast from your trolling past. That`s my point when I say this free rep thing is BS. Pilotasso Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Stuff like this "classic": http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37364 ;) I think rep is a good way to show appreciation between posters. other than that I dont see what it is for. yeah the green dots are pretty. :D .
effte Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I think rep is a good way to show appreciation between posters. other than that I dont see what it is for. yeah the green dots are pretty. :D I think it's very useful. If someone has a high rep per post quota, I know it is someone I should listen a bit more closely to when he or she is giving advice or stating things as fact than if someone has a low quota. Of course, friend-repping, brown-nose-repping and lunacy like the thread linked above detract from this usefulness. One quick solution to be done with most of it would be to not count rep given in chit-chat. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
topol-m Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I suspect now that you can`t give rep to people posting in a thread you started. I don`t find this to be the best solution to the "rep cheating" problem. When I start a thread asking for some info and some people post, answering me, helping me I can`t give them rep? Wouldn`t it be a better solution if you add a rule: "Threads created with reputation exchange purpose not allowed. "? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

topol-m Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I'm not sure about that. Can you try to rep me, and I tell you if it works? Actually I was wrong. It seems that you can`t give rep in threads that are in Chit/Chat section of the forums. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bucic Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) I see nothing wrong in the (past or current) rep system. A quick way to show appreciation and often a good way to avoid sending a PM just to say "Thanks!". Some people would consider it something opposite to appreciation ;) I also often give a "welcome rep" if I see someone is not allergic to learning and reading. That said IMO there should be a separate pointing system to mark posts of substantial value (and posters) so we don't have to memorize nicknames like AirTito, AlphaOneSix etc. :) EDIT: I can't give the bloke a rep for this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=699352&postcount=1 It's in the Home Cockpits section. brewber19 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Would be cool if positive rep points could be used like "loyalty" points for ED products...which may have the positive effect of people helping each other more, to earn loyalty points etc - then they'd have some "point", Just an idea.
