T.Goat Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Finding this thread totally made my day. I used to love simcopter, and I've been waiting for a "mission->payment->upgrade" style flight sim to come out. This will be awesome.

HOKUM52 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) guys im confused, will this have the level of detail as in black shark where nearly all switchs are clickable and has really good physics. is it a proper sim cause it keeps saying take on the game, or helicopter game? look awesome ntl. oh and any idea how soon its gonna be released, love to have it 4 the summer cause just finished A-levels Edited June 12, 2011 by HOKUM52
SUBS17 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 you mean the most incredibly cool company ? :D Its quite funny the stuff BI do in Arma2 when you beat the Eagle Wing campaign your own name is in the credits and in the end of Operation Arrowhead it has all the top mods, movies and players in the credits. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
T.Goat Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I wouldn't expect an Advanced Flight Model like BS has, but maybe a clickable pit and LOMAC physics? It's probably more of a competitor for FSX, than a hardcore study simulation like DCS.

Eight Ball Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Open Beta next week :) As the Take On Helicopters development moves through beta, we're ready to start letting players take a sneaky peek under the hood. To begin with, we're set to offer a limited amount of work-in-progress content to the community, including one of our helicopters, its associated flight-model and the new interactive functionality. Next week, we'll set out in a little more detail what the requirements will be to participate, specify what the content is exactly, and point out some of the particulars that we're looking for in terms of feedback! In this thread, we'll try to keep you up to date with any notable updates to the plans or the preview data. Below follows some early info about the Preview. What? SmukY Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Open beta? I wouldn't say that, because you will need the ArmA: Operation Arrowhead game for running that demo module as far as I understand it. Helicopters don't fly, they just subdue the air. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The rest deserve no trust :D. j/k Under such circunstance, i ll think ill take a peak at it. Big Ugly slow grass mowers. Sound awfully nice. Put a favela or 2, a 50 caliber on the side and i ll feel home. Cramberrys anyone ? Succellus Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) Kudos to BIS, all of their upcoming titles look very promising. In my opinion it's a really good thing that BIS is trully entering the video game market and doesn't remain the studio of one serie. As long as they don t mainstream for COD/BF kids......or even worse, are bribed to enter console market... The only thing i wish they would (they really need to) improve, is vehicle damage/scenario damage models in Arma 3. The tank passing over the vehicle without scratching it and the rubber containers bouncing with a bump that wouldn t even spill my beer was a bit facepalming IMSO. The rest look pretty awesome... a real war RPG ? Why not. Just have to include stats, choices of training before game beggin as inicial skills, and we re there. An Island all mine to wreck :D (i wish) isn t that nice ? Ali Fish Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) i believe the console market needs people like Bis inorder to inject something new to the present formulas. i do have a console and appreciate all forms of gaming. It could be Bis generating billions from somthing good rather than activision from somthing deplorable...... i dont condemn console gaming like every non console gamer does. It could be Bis generating billions from somthing good rather than activision from somthing deplorable...... i dont condemn console gaming like every non console gamer does. So far console market has worket as a corrupter of pc game industry. Absolutely all developpers that had more "muscular" games went down the "drain" (mainstreaming) once hitting console. First due to Hardware constraints, Second due to an amount of QQ of how you had to read, and reading is boring, how the game is complex and should be simplifyed, and how much easy money you do in this context. Much less programing -> eye candy = 75% of the game production, And third, because of an unwritten rule: If you want console market, until recently you couldn t do a PC game that looked so much better and interesting in PC. PC game market is just having a small reborn due to the fact consoles are so far behind its not even fun anymore. But this may last only until next console generation. So please no BI on consoles, i don t wanna see some of the last interesting game brand to fall in the common codlike drain. BI is making its games heach time more interesting for me i don t want this to revert to square 1. Things on Console are so serious, that even medieval fantasy first person RPG have aimbots implemented by the designers. Sad. winz Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 You can see the Arma 2 light engine (especialy on the smoke), which is great. For me Arma 2 has the best day-night transmission, in terms of simulating the reduced effectivity of cone cells in dim light. And it's pitch black nights are fabulous :) Looking forward to fly in such condition :) The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3

Ali Fish Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) tbh i expected somthing different. but but but. its not bad and i like it. the scope of what you will be doing gameplay wise will be a nice touch and the attraction. and the trim functions whilst not realistic are in theory quite similar to the blackshark style trim and its theory. point and go and maintain. im a liking it. so whens it out ? i have not payed much attention to any related arma3 news but if arma3 has this approach to the FM, thats a really good thing. to explain bluntly. they have taken the original style of FM and enhanced it. modding and this will be quite special i think. given whats been getting done to arma2 i just know this will see some really interesting stuffs. Napa Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 FM still needs work. Not very impressed so far. Still, better than Arma2 FM. BKLronin Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Checked it a few mins ago and was very dissapointed. The FM trys to simulate a flightmodel makin it just difficult but realistic. Dislike so far. Arma OA Fm was at least controllable. It´s hard to fly turns atm in Take on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
empeck Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Really? I've tried preview and it wasn't that bad. I can land almost where I want (just a little more practice), and I don't think helicopter was out of my control. Control settings are weird, but when I've finally set them right it's really fun. Arma2 maps are really beautiful from the air, and it's possible to extend draw distance. I'm not a real life pilot though, but I've flown many helicopter sims like EECH, FSX with and without third party FM, DCS and XPlane. Community preview sold me Take On concept, I'll certainly buy this sim at day one.
