"Goodies" would be great! I'd love to see stickers, airfield charts or even a stuffed A-10C for my bedroom :-)

Some other goodies that would make me very happy:

  • Tactical Map Poster
  • Small, laminated checklists (A5)
  • A-10C Keychain
  • A-10C T-Shirt
  • real A-10C pilot's helmet (for the special limited edition :-)

I will buy it ONLY if it has everything every 21st century flight sim should have in a box.

Given:

- The DVD

- Printed flight manual AND GUI manual with Color cover & b/w inside pages (of course that depends from the company budget) and perfect binding (not the usual spiral bs)

- A printed laminated ED produced Black sea & Nevada theater tactical map.

- A coupon to buy the TM Warthog from trusted retailers at a cheaper price.

Extras and optional but I'd love to see these too:

- Patches from all current A-10C squadrons :P

- A printed laminated ED produced Data Card

- A poster of an A-10C carrying the ED logo of course.

- A-10C T-shirt and keychain (as mention by Deleror in the above post too although the helmet would be an overkill is certainly a nice addition for special limited editions)

I've seen many boxed games and many have left me astounded by the things they put inside, for example (for those who are familiar with this game) the boxed version of Bethesda's Fallout 3 it has an actual wrist size Pip Boy 3000 identical to the one in the game.

I also understand that ED is not a publisher like Ubisoft and many others and has a lot of limitations in budget and market audience but if you are going to make a box for your product at least make it right and give your buyer the feeling of the kid with a big smile who open his/her present in Christmas.

I would buy a boxed version of A-10C Warthog if it is running "Steam" instead of "StarForce" it is currently using. Far less headaches.

Why is it a headache to punch in your serial number one time? All other chronic problems Starforce had are now gone and your activations will be replenished after a month.

No, unless the boxed version has a printed manual or other such goodies to justify a purchase. I will buy a second copy though, for a friend.

I want a boxed version. I only bought the d/l version 'cause it got me into the beta. I'll have to save up for it, but I'll get it.

...and for a reasonable price!

With these add-ons I guess 200 EUR for the special edition is reasonable and make it 1.000 EUR for the limited edition with the helmet...:megalol:

By the way: Helmets are for sale here:

I will buy a boxed copy, if it does not install steam/root-kit crap on my PC...was a no-go for Cliffs of Dover already.

10 copies will have, inside the metal case signed by the development team, a Willy Wonka-style Golden Ticket. Owners of that ticket will get free copies of all future DCS releases for the next five years, and will be recreated as virtual pilots in DCS itself.

Or... just one Golden Ticket- you get to nominate the next DCS module.

I'd prefer to have a boxed version, but I don't care if all I get is a plain plastic DVD box with a cover and a CD. I hate that. Make it at least a small cardboard box with a printed map.

Like, I bought a boxed version of Flaming Cliffs 2 on New Zealand because they had it in a nice small cardboard box (though I wish they had a printed map in it at least). BTW, I also have a boxed version of Black Shark, but it's a plain DVD box which I hate so I'm not planning to do that again with the A-10. But if they were making some sort of collector edition.. :)

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

I rather have Starforce in it's current form, then Steam or a DVD with protection, any day of the week! Starforce were the reason I didn't buy Black Shark from the beginning.. but waited a loong time!

And who would edit the manual, practically for free?

Why for free? The same guy from ED that made the manual ;) Thats why I said a raised price would be ok to cover the additional cost.

I have the download version and I will also buy the boxed version to help support the dev's. Back when Black Shark came out I bought the Russian download version, the English download version and the boxed version as my way of supporting them.

Thank you all for your participation.

It's nice to see almost a third will buy it again to support the devs.

And maybe they will read this and decide to add some "goodie(s)" to the boxed version to increase the number even more...

DCS:BS on disc did not have a disc check - it used the same protection as the download version. I suspect the same will hold true for the box version of DCS A-10C, but the usual "I don't know that kind of thing for sure" caveats apply.
