Patch 1.1.0.8 for DCS is OUT!

Is there a way to disable or bypass 32bit options restriction?

 

My system is powerfull enough to handle high settings in 1.1.0.7, so why I can't decide myself what settings to set?

 

Because some combinations will cause the 32bit application to become problematic. I know you don't want to hear it, but 32bit operating system restrictions are starting to become a pita.

I used to be in your exact position, decent hardware but 32bit.... caved-in to advice from ED testers and have never looked back! It instantly fixed all my DCS CTDs, and now I can upgrade to 8GB RAM whenever I feel like it. My machine was just a gaming rig anyway and with most other games purchased from Steam, it was a pretty painless process...

High settings require a lot of memory. Microsoft has made 32bit Windows to allocate up to 3GB of memory to applications with /3GB or increaseuserva switches. That isn't enough for Warthog on high settings.

Don't arm EAC until just before you are ready to taxi out (last step before asking ATC)

That should give enough time for everything to align.

 

So follow normal startup procedure until...

Right MFCD press NAV OSB (left MFCD TAD display will load your map and a star will appear next to NAV)

Set Steerpoint switch to Flight Plan (waypoints appear on TAD map display)

Press EGI button (in front of stick)

Carry on with start-up checklist until ready to taxi out

EAC switch to ARM (EAC caution light will go out)

If your GCAS warning light is on, check your RDR ALT switch is set to NRM

Thanks, Ells. Quick follow-up: Is it true that 1.0.0.8 enables you to start the alignment as soon as APU Gen is on? If so, should I adjust my startup procedure to start the alignment before engine startup? And if so, will engine startup cancel out the alignment?

After patching version 1.1.0.7 Starforce asked me for activation...

- ILS frequency selector function was completely reworked according to video recorded in the real cockpit.

Above change is probably the reason that landing training mission is broken in v1.1.0.8. Once you are to input the ILS frequency of 110.30 MHz, it won't recognize your input!

Yeah, but you still need to buy (pay) for the game even if you download it from ED directly in order for the game to start downloading. So you end up paying for 2 games. :doh:

You download the relevant files (Full Installer package), install and use Steam activation key to activate - you do not buy a second copy, unless you want to, that is - will not hurt :)

Notes:

1- Because of an update to the copy protection, one activation will be used when installing the patch. However, one new activation will be added to your account.

2- In order to address game instability and dropped textures when using 32 bit OS systems, some graphic options had to be disabled.

When we will get a full 1.1.0.8 version installer? Now I had to download 1.1.0.7 (4GB) + patch 1.1.0.8 (1.12 MB​​). I prefer to download all at once - and to have a clean install.

What you mean, i don't use APU GEN at all anymore with that patch, ahh i need new startup sheet if it changed so much, what i do now different than before, i start up without APU GEN and before switching EAC i put EGi on.

I know it has been said but it bears repeating, to run A10C full settings you will have to have a 64 bit system.

I almost had a freak out, after finally getting to the pause/break screen, the key didn't work. AHHHH!!!! I managed to wipe out my default keyboard while loading my 52 profile. Duh. It looks awesome and I didn't think it was possible to make the GAU-8 sound any better then it did, but this new sound engine makes it happen. Very nice.

In my case, it's because free head-tracking solution for 64bit is not yet available (thanks to ED it will be soon though).

To be honest I don't know.

I always go through my full checklist from the beta version training tweaking here and there for the latest releases.

 

Not being an aircaft electrician, is there enough power with just the APU to switch everything on prior to engine start?

I know the APU takes a hit as you start the engines and would assume it would take more of a hit with all CDU, EGI, MFCD's Etc. all on as well.

Again I assume ground power would also help.

One thing to try I guess.

Batt to on, inverter to stndby, signal lamp test, fuel test, oxy on, oxy ind test, L&R boost pumps to on, L&R fuel flow to Norm, APU start, check P's & T's, APU GEN to PWR, L&R batt to on, L engine start, check P's & T's, R engine start, check P's & T's, switch off APU and APU GEN after both engines have spooled up, IFCC to test, CICU, BIT test start, Yaw and Pitch SAS, Trim, CDU, EGI, Countermeasures, lights, exit BIT test, IFCC to on, JTRS to on, DTS Load ALL, left MFCD to TAD, right MFCD to CDU, when ready press NAV OSB, when ready press EGI button, RDR ALT to NRM, steerpoint to FLT PLN. Then I recheck all my switches ready for taxi, do my DSMS loadout changes, request taxi then EAC on.

Also note the new master caution on first engine start, this is meant to happen.

Doing all that from memory but I don't think I missed any steps.

 

Prior to take off at runway hold - check flaps, check pitot switch, check master arm safe, check flight controls (again) and then taxi out to runway

 

I'll update my startup checklist sheet tomorrow and post up if that helps.
