For some reason my Cockpit shadows aren't working...

I bumped my settings all the way up cuz I thought it might involve the settings, but still no joy.

:(

And yes I did click it in the options

The vsync setting in-game didn't used to work. I had to set it in the config file. Is that fixed?

I ask because I'm now getting a lot of tearing, with vsync set to on.

Thanks

EDIT - never mind, I forced vsync on with the nvidia control panel and the tearing went away.

Not being an aircaft electrician, is there enough power with just the APU to switch everything on prior to engine start?

I know the APU takes a hit as you start the engines and would assume it would take more of a hit with all CDU, EGI, MFCD's Etc. all on as well.

Again I assume ground power would also help.

One thing to try I guess. .

Generally an APU should be able to power everything, if it doesnt it may be referred to as a JFS rather that an APU. The APU takes a hit on engine start because it is pulling bleed air from the APU to spin the engines...that is why you get an increase in apu rpm and a apu egt increase because of the increaded air load on the APU. This is not related to the APU generator which will run at a constant frequency to provide power to all the aircraft electrical busses regardless of the air load requirements on the APU. In most aircraft the APU air will provide air conditioning to the pilot with the bleed air and that air will be diverted to the engine during start.

This is how a lot of aircraft work...I am not saying this is exactly how the A10 works but I would say i'm pretty close.

Can anyone please confirm that these three training missions do not work any more with 1.1.0.8:

  • Landing: input of ILS-frequency (110.30 MHz) not recognized
  • DSMS: manual selection of stations 4 and 8 not recognized
  • GAU-8/A: you are told to set your steerpoint and fly to waypoint-3 ("MSN003"), but WP3 is called "MSN2". mission does not continue from there...

UPDATE: added GAU-8/A and Unguided Rocket TM

I can confirm ILS 110.30 MHz not recognized. Tried at least 4 times.

Anyway thanks a lot for patch. Everything else = :worthy:

Impressive update! Unbelievable list of changes. You guys are hard workers ED :D

I now have to start carrying an air-sick bag with me on flights. The realism is top-notch.

I no longer see even the slightest hic-up when switching on the LANTRN or Maveric views. Nice.

Some pre-0.8 missions will have to be edited. I jumped into a ramp start mission and noticed the engines not starting. They were just motoring with no change to EGT. Heh, the fuel was on 0 lbs. No wonder

If I have modded certain LUA files, should I do a full reinstall? It seems the modded files did not get over-written?

Three different training missions not working correctly and those that work contain errors - although I reported most of them earlier. This is not good for beginners :-(

I started assembling a list with errors in the current training missions over here.

I just noticed that force feedback is somehow better (but maybe it is only my instant-tweaking). Anyway, is it only my thinking, that terrain texture around buildings area now match to the land texture? I think before terrain texture was brighter around building area and now it match perfectly. And surround sound + cockpit shadows, magnificant !!! Also more stable framerate and overal smoothness. Great Patch!!!

Always advisable to patch an unmodded install, so yeah, I would reinstall.

I am a rockie so currently at training missions. Have to wait for next patch, but still can learn everything else around.

Anyway your list of bugs come very handy, especially can know what to expect during tutorial missions. thanks a lot for your work.

Also no problem to revert back to 1.0.0.7, past training missions and go again for 1.0.0.8 ;o) At least we all appreciate somebody list theese bugs so they can be possibly fixed with next patch.

First thing I´ve noticed about the new patch is the performance improvement! Thanks a lot and great job there ED!!!! I also noticed I get less trees. I tried playing with scenes and trees distance, but correct me if im wrong, it seems more related to view distance tho. Nice cockpit shadows and adjustable HDR btw! Looks like it was worth the wait.

I'm sure there will be a separate fix for the training missions. I had tested the training backwards as I assumed the more complex missions would go wrong first. I didn't get to the landing training before release, sorry.

Nate

That would be perfect! You guys rock. No reason to apologize. We know there was a lot of other stuffs to be fixed and tested and tested again. Training missions could be easilly overlooked. Current project is a miracle itself and I'm amazed to the maximum and proud on you as on programmer leaders. I'm sure I will support any upcoming projects as well. For me, this is what I'm looking for since EuroFighter 2000 times...

Well been flying 1.1.0.8 for the last few hrs now, What a difference, All my frame rate and stuttering issues from 1.1.0.7 have gone, My fire warning lights are working again, and what can I say about the Shadows and sunlight. WOW. Had a stunning moment as i exited a cloud bank and had the sun shining through my cockpit producing little shadows everywhere. That is up there as one of my all time best moments in a sim. All down to your hard work.

Thanks guys, I didnt think A10 could get any better, I was wrong.

Thanks again

Still on 32 bit here, and I take issue with the new patch.

I've seen the previous explanations given for removing functionality from 32-bit systems. I have experienced no such system instability, I have quite literally not had one CTD since Beta 4.

Now, I'm forced back to using medium textures etc, no HDR.

I wouldn't mind so much if it was simply a matter of 'okay, we won't enable cockpit shadows on 32 bit systems' but to actually *remove the option* of using the sim with high textures is absurd. The difference in visual quality is huge, and the performance gains are very very slight on my system.

I'm willing to take the risk of the application being unstable, but at least give me the option to try.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, I really appreciate this sim and all of ED's hard work on it - I'm just trying to get my head around why I'm being forced to take a step backwards when there was nothing wrong in the first place.
