LostOblivion Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I really like that you are fixing a lot of additional panels like the ground safe armament safe switch. I'll defenately start off by gunning down all my wingmen on the ramp now when starting a mission... Will you in .9 fix the bug where when turning the radio frequency tenth positions too fast, they will bug out and not be set to what it says on the display? Like if I turn from frequency 124.000 to 124.500 it will say 124.500 on the display, but will actually be 124.8 or something in the game and I won't be able to contact AWACS, etc. Then I have to turn the knob to 124.2 for me to be able to contact AWACS on 124.5... Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW

RobAnt Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Haven't read the whole of this thread, it's quie large after all. So please forgive me if this has been noticed previously. I am playing in game mode, in the "Instant Action" missions, when I select the M/GBU-38's, which are preset to deliver in CCRP mode, I only get the Projected Bomb Impact Line (PBIL), but not the Azimuth Steering Line and Solution Cue. I have posted a screenshot at http://www.ramms.myby.co.uk/Screen_110623_234531.jpg Is this an error that crept in with 1.1.0.8, or am I simply missing something?
Gonzo01 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nate, which way do I have to turn the MFCD knob; CW or CCW to get it to turn on? I can't find it in the manual. :) hehehehehehe
Sarge55 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Robant That is the correct HUD setup for GBU's. The cues are the two triangles in the pipper. Align the pipper with the solid PBIL and the cues will move around inside the pipper as you get close to the release point. The release cue unwinds on the inside of the pipper, you press and hold the release button when it is between the two triangles. You will also see Man Rel appear on the left side of the HUD as a second cue to release the bomb. Sorry I'm away from the manual and I may not have named the various cues correctly. RobAnt Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Nope, still can't get it to release the weapon. The two carats move to either side of the pipper, the ASL falls cleanly through the centre of the pipper, the release cue winds down. When the release cue comes past the first carat I press and hold the weapon release button. Nothing happens. Eventually the ASL whips around the back of the aircraft and is lost from sight. The weapon remains firmly attached, it doesn't hang. What am I doing wrong? Edit: Ahhh, it does work. It helps if you ensure you gear is up! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.. :( Edited June 24, 2011 by RobAnt Update

AJ.eightFive Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Nope, still can't get it to release the weapon. What am I doing wrong? :( MASTER ARM = Safe? :P Do the GBU-38's show RDY status and highlighted in reverse video on the DSMS? Are you sure that the particular button you are using for weapon release is being held? If you are using a joystick profiler software it is possible that even though you are holding the button, the profiler is only sending a quick keypress when you first push the button.
RobAnt Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Thanks, I sorted it via the prudent measure of raising the undercarriage. It would have worked today, but as the undercarriage was down the weapons wouldn't release. I must have inadvertently pressed the G key, or hit the button I had assigned on my Hotas T-Flight X. That's not to say I was getting right in the past, your help today has put me on the right track, and I am successfully able to hit the targets now. Thanks again.

RobAnt Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Still learning things like that. Thanks, I hadn't noticed it. The manual is fine and good and whatnot, but it doesn't actually teach you much, and some of the tutorial videos don't tell you how to do some things, they often assume you know what's what and how to achieve the final goal, but not necessarily how to perform the steps leading up to that goal so you end up chasing your tail trying to understand what the tutor means. The training missions built into the sim aren't that much help either. Edited June 24, 2011 by RobAnt

The training missions built into the sim aren't that much help either. I couldn't disagree more. All of the training aids (most certainly the manual) are about as helpful as they get. They do require you to do a certain amount of homework... I'm can sympathize with you, and I'd imagine that most around here can as well, it's not easy to learn this stuff. The professionals get full time training for years to get a handle on all this stuff. If you want someone to hold your hand, and tell you exactly what to do and when to do it, join the air force. Or likewise hop into some multi player and ask for help. I'm certainly more than willing to help, but there will be a lot of work for you to do. EDIT: I'd like to re-empasize the benefit of multi-player. Most of the guys I fly with (myself included) are more than happy to spend there free time helping others. So don't be shy! Find a suitable VFS and get your team speak on! Once you move into the more advanced applications for the tools at your disposal, you'll be scrambling for the manual. I promise ;) Edited June 24, 2011 by SmokeyTheLung System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

Shootist Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Having to reinstall When I installed '08 I had some serious performance issues and was told to delete the game and install the download version. Which I did and it fixed my problems. Question is, am I going to have to do this with every patch? I mean, delete '08 dl the complete 09 and reinstall the game again? I sure hope not.
