by this time E.D's prducts get better and better

but i think there is one more thing to be improved

sense of speed

generally, people playing air combat game want to feel extremely high speed .. like a movie

of course i know the movie scene is exaggerated

but when i'm flying over 100~200ft and over 300kn i feel very slow

to combat jet 100ft is low altitude right?

this is same opinion people playing E.D products have in my country

on the other hand i feel much faster in DCS A-10 than in FC2.0

so i guess E.D also think about that concept

finally we wish to feel much more faster speed in next generation DCS than previous one

thanks:thumbup:

they used clutter for that. the ground texture noise has also been increased. the only other thing they can do is put in more land details, bump mapping on the ground and more trees and clutter.

beyond that, they'll have to exaggerate things.

Another point I'd add is that people with three-screen eyefinity and similar setups are likely to have an easier time getting a good sense of speed while down low, since it allows some use of peripheral vision.

I think the sense of speed is pretty good in the game, yes it could be a tad bit faster down low, but it's not bad.

yes i agree it's not bad

just hope to be improved

to improve sense of speed there is other source to use

(EX-> sound effect , reaction to pilot etc whatever) just i guess

other than passing object at high speed

I run eyefinity and your right, flying threw canyons and on the deck gives you a very good sense of speed.

yes perpheral vision is important. didn't think of that. you can increase fov by zooming out so you can see things flying past you to your side.

One of the best examples you can find how peripheral vision higher the sense of speed:

They might as well considering adding motion blur?

Well... there is always the obvious solution if you want a sense of higher speed.... fly lower. You feel supersonic at 20 feet, 350 knots.

Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility.

Been there, done that... Yeah, but's not working the way we'ld love too.

Ground's not detailed enough for that, need to see the grass shimmering by my wake and the trees blurring while they fade behind me... Otherwise, it'll still stay just low controlled flight.

I love the idea of adding some motion blur. as long as it's subtle. Especially for the Shark or a possible FC3, where there's crown truncation with my eagle burner's... ;)

There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload".

You could also mount a jet engine behind the monitor with the nozzle facing you. Wonderful sense of speed as you frail through the air. :music_whistling:

Seriously, I do not think we'll ever reach what's there in reality.

If only there were decent HMD's with high resolution and 150+ FOV, we would be half-way towards a realistic experience of flight and immersion. Couple that with trackir and you are literally in the jet. Then bring out DCS.f/a-18 with a few more graphical tweaks just for good measure (even though it's perfectly adequate graphics wise ATM) and you have my wet dream.

A realistic level of motion blur would solve this problem.

If they can just speed it up a tad bit, then it would be fine. But I guess it depends on how low you are and how fast you are going. I now on take off it's not too bad, even up to about 250kts. I didn't get that low and fast to see how it was. I think I was about 2-3k alt still, but going about 300-350kts, maybe even faster, I'd have to check the video.

As others have said, with one monitor there just isn't that high sense of speed. But with three monitors, there is (imo). But I wouldn't mind seeing some type of motion blur, as long as it's done tastefully, just a tiny bit or something.

Motion blur is not good because the computer doesn't know where you're looking.

They're not going to 'speed it up', because the physics/speed of aircraft in-game is correct.

PeterP Mannnnn!!! That's it. How can you not feel "Totaly Emersed" watching those barrel roles and that split second before he goes under the bridge,(That Oooohhh Shiiittee, He's going under it moment). You get that goose bump feeling as the bridges pillars pass your parypheral vision.

DCS. HHHhhoooooooWWWwwwwahhhhhhh!!!!!

Looking at some of the posts, I was thinking it is individual. The level of emersion is mental the ones who can forget for even a split second that it is a game, will be able to have "That" feeling (however you want to describe it). Like roller coaster junkys and those who took 2 and 3 tours in Vietnam.

One thing I noticed, all the cockpit vids I've seen (HUD only and normal perspective), the sense of speed or movement is less than expected. Especially those vids where the plane is coming in for a landing. You only sense the speed when the plane is close to flaring. The more I have looked at this, the more convinced I am that A10 is spot on.

Nice :D

Word of advice though, turn off the radar altimeter next time... "PULL UP, PULL UP!"

I was wondering how to make it shut up but couldn't figure it out. Thanks. Allthough radar altimeter would be nice to have for this kind of flying. Is there any way to disable the collision warning system but keep the radar altimeter?
