pvtkramer Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 the Black Shark 2 patch won't install. i would guess this is because i don't have Black Shark installed to the default installation folder? the error message: DCS Black Shark must be installed
Quirkitized Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Myself and others seem to have same problem. I do not have the steam version, but people with steam version seem to be having the same issue.
EtherealN Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 It's being looked into. Thankyou for your patience. pvtkramer Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 (edited) thank you for looking into the problem. i have Black Shark version 1.02 installed. Edited November 2, 2011 by pvtkramer
Mustang Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 (edited) Please try installing Black Shark 1 without using patch 1.02 then update to BS2. Edited November 2, 2011 by Mustang 1
pvtkramer Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 yes, Mustang, that worked for me also. thanks!
audax Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 You do realise how bloody stupid that is, right? Come on, you work 2 years on a patch and then you **** up the install routine! Are you ****ing kidding me?

Japo32 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Incredible... so I buy the new patch.. and when installing it says that I don't have black shark installed because I have 1.02 version (that all should already have).. so ALL we want to fly the new 2 version has to install AGAIN the 1.0 version deleting everything that we installed (mods etc).. just because the team didn't think to be able to install the 2 version over any existing black shark? Great!! That is common sense. All simple to the final user... "do it or not" I know what to do next time... great reply.

You're new to these forums according to your info - perhaps you're not familiar with Viper's personality. IMHO it was a warranted response, the initial post was the equivalent of a child having a tantrum in a toy store and should be addressed as such. It's not the ideal situation, but it's a solution to the problem. Welcome to the world of computer science and the complexities of hifi sims.
audax Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 You could at least put it into the error message instead of a simple "Black Shark not found". That would have been helpful.
Japo32 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Element... yes.. I am new replying in these forums (that not reading them).. and yes.. thanks for the reply.. but what is bad done is bad done.. and need to be fixed. I make planes for x-plane and sell them. So I am not new in the business. There is a great rule that always I put in front of everything.. COMMON SENSE. If you release a patch (buy) for a product that already was patched for several months to the 1.02 why you make people downgrade an step to upgrade to 2. I wanted to have the 1.02 with my mods to fly online with others... Maybe I will be able to do it.. uninstalling it.. installing the 1.0 installing the 2.0 and then applying the 1.02 patch.. + putting again all my mods. A rolling circle... not needed to do if common sense was aplied before releasing. And I know that they know this issue.. because any tester would test to upgrade over the 1.02 version the very first tests. Anyway... lets work for nothing... time is free.. I have looooot of free time (sarcastic)
BaD CrC Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I never flamed anyone on this forum, and certainly no one from the dev team who made a fantastic sim, but this time I have to say that I kinda agree with Japo32. It is obvious that anyone buying the patch would fly the 1.02. It's hard to understand why the testing of the BS2 install patch missed this point... https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden

No - it is not a downgrade. It merely demands a BS1.0 install as opposed to a BS 1.02 install. An inconvenience? Yes. Honestly, if you cannot afford to expend the patience it will take to attend to one install then I begin to wonder....... An honest error/oversight? Yes Possible fix being investigated? Yes Now if the above is not good enough for some who elect to pounce on any minor error and inconvenience with great gusto and glee in an attempt to ridicule, think very carefully before hitting the 'Submit Reply' tab. It has been addressed - move along and deal with it or wait for a fix, if applicable. Eihort Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Well. Just installed BS1.0 and I still get the "Not installed" error from BS2.
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Well. Just installed BS1.0 and I still get the "Not installed" error from BS2. Try flying in BS1 v1.0 once and then try the update again. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Oh hmm ok, I don't have an answer then. It should work with v1.00 I had v1.02 and then I installed v1.00 and the update worked. The installer will be fixed, hopefully tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
enigma6584 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Just did. Still says it's missing. Are you installing as administrator on your system?
Shein Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm having this problem as well... before I go uninstalling and reinstalling everything, let me ask you this: I have a CD Key for the black shark 2 patch, and the black shark original. If I were to download the necessary files for a clean black shark 2 install, would either of the 2 CD Keys work for that? or does the patch CD key only work for the patch?

No neither key will work for the full BS2 install. Yes, the patch key only works for the patch. Shein Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Damn. well looks like I'll wait for the updated installer then. I have too much work to be doing to be flying Werewolves right now anyway ;)
Purg Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I got the same message, uninstalled patch 1.02 and low and behold..
Custer Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Worked for me also with uninstalling Patch 1.02. Will the profile work on Black Shark 2 if you take it from "old" Black Shark?
