Mojeaux Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Arrg! it's gotta be tuff being you! P-51 NO THANKS!!!! this customer just said NO! 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
LankNZ Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I've spent the last few days perusing this thread at work and have been generally shocked and ashamed at some of the disrespect shown towards the devs by a few people. I would assume that DCS being the product it is would have a following of mostly mature players however many posts on this topic remind of of forums from games like WoW. Sure voice your opinion, but at least keep it respectful. Lookin forward to learning the mustang ED. Keep up the fantastic work. 1

LostOblivion Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Hehe, yeah, that is what we would expect when firing at the A-10 with a Mustang. ;) Nice plane on that gun... OS764 P930@4 MBUD3R M6GB G5870 SSDX25 CAntec1200 HTMHW
nick10 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Very excited about the P-51. But would be much more so if it had some AI WW2 opponents such as the Fw-190 or Me 109. Also some WW2 related vehicles to strafe would be neat. Will the P-51 have a damage model?
empeck Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I often tell people that Real Aircraft have propellers. I maintain that jet engines only work due to a miscalculation, and that one day this error will be found and they will all stop. Hahahaha, this is awesome :D :megalol:

Steel Jaw Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Neither the P51 nor the A10 can turn hard, both will depart. TBH those 2 planes DFing is something of a joke. Most WW2 A2A kills were slashing attacks the victim never saw coming. The Hawg should never ever be trying to A2A. GGTharos Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Neither the P51 nor the A10 can turn hard, both will depart. Both will out-turn a lawndart at their combat speed ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Steel Jaw Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Both will out-turn a lawndart at their combat speed ;) Not with an AMRAAM up their butts from BVR. Not with a Sidewinder shot from off boresight WVR. Not with a high energy slashing attack out of the sun. On the turning: which wil recover its energy faster after that tight turn? ;) Edited January 26, 2012 by Mower "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: GIGABYTE M32QC 32" (31.5" Viewable) QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) 165Hz.

Weta43 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yeah that video is definitely from a video game. Freeze-frame when the wing gets blown off -- where does the wing go, hmmm??? Funny (& a sign of where games are at) that in this day and age you have to freeze frame the video to be sure real time video game footage isn't real life gun-cam footage though isn't Cheers.
Panthro Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I think that having the Mustang as a DCS sim is a really cool idea I just think that they should include the Spitfire as well. The key difference between the 2 would be the performance of the wing and as such would be great fun to fly them comparatively. PS. I bet the nay Sayers would change their tune pretty quick after a couple of dog fights esp if they had a trakIR to do it with ;) [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic86362_2.gif[/sIGPIC]
Steel Jaw Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I bet the nay Sayers would change their tune pretty quick after a couple of dog fights esp if they had a trakIR to do it with ;) What are you referring to specifically? I have flown prop fighters extensively over the years from EAW to IL2/1946/COD and I will say this: DF in a prop plane is a big fat PITA. Yep it is most definitely is a PITA, you actually have to fly aircraft. This isn't a slight on you Mower, but it is ****ing difficult to Pilot such an Aircraft. You actually have to have the ability to fly, let alone fight. I watched a documentary about Battle of Britain yesterday - In the thick of it, the pilots had 2 weeks to train before combat......... some thing like 80% didn't fly a second time. And that wasn't all due to enemy fire. They just couldn't fly the aircraft. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Steel Jaw Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I am a tolerable (v) pilot. But in a prop plane you spend more time "fighting" with your own aicraft than tangling with the enemy. SFJackBauer Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 You only think so because you didn't think of the smartass answer to my analogy: "Sure, if I got at least one of them pregnant 8 months ago" ;) Does it mean that DCS:Fighter has been in production for 8 months and will get released next month? :music_whistling: 1

GGTharos Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I disagree, yes, you have to care more but a bit practice is all you need to make the operation part 'free'. You just have to be more aware of limitations. I am a tolerable (v) pilot. But in a prop plane you spend more time "fighting" with your own aicraft than tangling with the enemy. GGTharos Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 The pony recovers pretty quick. Not as quick as the other two, but it can keep you pretty busy. Of course it can't prevent extensions due to lack of missiles. On the turning: which wil recover its energy faster after that tight turn? ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
