A Hind would be perfect. Either the good old Mi-24, a Mi-24 with night-attack capability or a Mi-35M (although it's probably impossible since they're pretty fresh).

Those things are f***ing tanks, there is an insane amount of armour on most of the aircraft and cockpit (including titanium rotor blades) covering you up to .50 from all angles, pilots are well protected in case of nuclear/chemical warfare, it can take off and fly with only one engine running, you can carry ammunition/mechanic on the back if needed, or even do troop/supply transport while retaining combat capability.

It's a fantastic aircraft. Even the AI manages to get good results with it, every time I see a Mi-24 get shot up it somehow miraculously lands (without breaking the gear mind you) and the crew gets away safely :D

Other: UH60 with transport missions in and out of hot LZs, Medevacs, and simple troop transports. :)

The rotor blades are not titanium. And if one engine isn't running, you won't be taking off with anything but minimum fuel. And the whole bit about carrying stuff in the back? Good luck I say, as long as your only cargo is e-mails.

I love the Mi-24 as much as the next guy, but it's not a miracle aircraft.

Double checked here, the rotor's hub is titanium, my bad.

About the taking-off with one engine, I got this info from Mi-35 pilots.

The cargo in the back was something Soviet pilots did in Afghanistan to avoid having to RTB to rearm. It wasn't proper cargo, rather a mechanic and some ammo. They'd land, the lad in the back would get out, rearm and they'd proceed. :)

The Hind is terribly underpowered... It really isn't all that great. I guess it's just got a tough image because it's 'that big fat scary Russian helicopter from the cold war'.

that big fat UGLY Russian helicopter from the cold war'.

Replacing "scary" with "ugly" and that's all I think when I see the Hind. :/

No worries. The hub is steel, by the way, not titanium (on the Mi-24, anyway). The only titanium up there is an anti-abrasion strip on the leading edge of the rotor blades. It's very thin and just designed to reduce wear on the rotor blade leading edges.

The Mi-35M has a titanium rotor hub from the Mi-28, as well as composite rotor blades.

I think maybe the newest Mi-24s either have or will be getting the titanium hub, but I don't know how many of those are in service yet...not many I don't think. It's the one with the fixed landing gear.

It was Mi-35M4 ('sides the Israeli avionics, essentially the same as Russia's -35 [they're getting the Mi-35M designation in the end, unusually getting the export name]) they flew, my apologies.

They're not upgraded Mi-24s though AFAIK, but fresh helicopters. Pretty capable, a couple are already in service.

Mi-35M: Export night attack version, is fitted with upgraded advanced avionics and sensor package, including night vision systems, GOES-342 electro-optical range finder/targeting system, GLONASS/GPS navigation system, electronic multifunction displays, onboard computer, and jam-proof communications equipment. Also known as Mi-35M1.
Also, the 12.7mm MG became a double-barrel 23mm cannon.

Mi-35 designation is for export only, just like Mi-8/Mi-17. If it's for Russian service, it's an Mi-24. The upgraded ones are Mi-24PM or VM or whatever maybe PN or VN I can't remember, there are lots of designations.

I think that the next one should be AH-64D longbow or Ka-52.

But Mi-28 or Mi-24 would be nice aswell.

DCS A-10C is only for enthertaiment??? Not for me.

JDAM manual is classyfied??? Not for me.

Lies sounds like a truth??? Not for me.

Knowlege is for kids??? Nope, its for me.

I certainly wouldn't mind a UH60 to play with, but I really feel like the Apache would be the best choice. Give us an AH64!

I'd dearly love an AH-64. Personal preference, but I like the USA aircraft more.

Still, not going to grumble. These things will make an appearance when they make an appearance. At the moment I'm happy with A-10C and Ka-50, and I'm hanging out for the F/A-18.

Apache AH-64D?

Now that DCS has a multi-crew position helicopter sim, does anyone know/do you think it would be possible for an Apache?

They still haven't worked out the simultaneous multi-human crew and for a D model I don't think the AI could ever handle it properly.

Apache is my #1 when it comes to choppers.. with the Huey as a close second.

(But playing the Huey for 10 hours almost made it my #1 even in the beta state!)

The day we get an apache in sim will signify a full circle for me, i only ever originally got into PC gaming 16 years ago to fly an apache in some sim game.

seriously though. i would not need any other helicopter to satisfy any helicopter need i may have if and when we get an Apache64D. the holy grail it is for me.

Apache is in 1st line of my wishlist. Actually one wish item I have.

But, since I've understood how the things work, I'm not so eager about Apache, or another #1 helicopter.

Because, due to some obstructions about revealing technology, we can't get latest (modern) versions of that aircrafts. I know there're some reasons; political or military...

But at the same time I won't satify to pay for a very old model of the helicopter that I want badly. I hope ED (or Belsimtek) find a fair point for that.

I don't know, I may not tell exactly what I mean, because of poor English.

Amazing how fast time goes by. And I really like the war-room implementation. Didn't like the comment about him not being able to do a DCS World Apache module, though. :(
