Ever since I started using the A-10C I've noticed a slight pull to the right on taxi.

I have Saitek Pro Flight peddles and as far as I know, there is no way to calibrate them. I have set an approximate 5% dead zone to centre and looking at the Wndblows 7 game controller settings, the direction indicator stays within deadband whilst centred.

I did a search in the flight manual and couldn't see a reference to this sort of drift. I was thinking it was something to do with the nose wheel offset for the gun.

Centering during take off after NWS is disengaged is still required, but flight surfaces seem to smooth things out a bit.

Can someone please clear this up for me.

I try real hard not to look like a tool zigzagging my way down the taxi way.:D

Same issue here (& same pedals) - most of the time, although it does seem to depend upon what you have loaded as to how much pull you get. Does always seem to be the right though for taxi & take off. I increased the curve on my rudder to give finer control over this - just to try and prevent the "zigzagging tool" factor mentioned by astrospud above.

Are your rudders offset if you go external view? Does it get better or worse with an increase in airspeed?

an issue i had was that one of my toe brakes was partially not releasing. bring up the control input display (rctl-enter), and see if that is the case.

I used to use a G940 setup, and the aircraft would ALWAYS pull to the right (at LOW and high speed, with a custom mission with NO wind).

So I switched to an x65f, and I still have the exact same issue, no wind, perfect calibration, always being drifted to the right.

Try with a deadzone maybe....??

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I'm sure this is an issue within the game with Saitek pedals, its been talked about before but never sorted. The ctrl/enter axis check window and the axis editing pane of the controls menu both show some funny goings on with the saitek toe brake axis but the Windows game controler or saitek axis indicators show it working perfectly (they also work perfectly in every other game i've tried)

Saitek pedals working okay here.

Like someone said before, check your control inputs in game by pressing RCTRL-ENTER. Check if the rudder there is centered.

Maybe one of the toebrakes is (partially) activated.

Here are my settings for wheelbrakes :

Wheelbrake left->joy_x

Wheelbrake right->joy_y

I've tuned both axes :

deadzone : 15

Saturation x = 100

Saturation y = 100

curvature = 0

Slider = on

Invert = on

Usercurve = off

Good luck

in windows iir, you'll have to look at the raw data. i've owned the saitek peddles and after a while they were "glitching" real bad without any input. those "pots" (potentiometers) were the ultimate cause. in the windows normal view of the sliders and such, they just show a dampened view. so the raw data is where you need to focus. hence the in game controls view would work best.

as i mentioned, my toe brakes were not releasing completely. if the "glitch" was large enough to overcome the dead zone, then no matter what your setting were, you would still get them dragging. or partially so.

@ shootist

he is correct. just make sure thats not the issue, set up a no wind mission.

I have never pursued the issue since it has not had a noticeable in game effect, but if I go into Axis Tune and start pressing and releasing the brakes the graphic shows them return to anywhere from zero to half way pressed with different results almost every single time.

I have always assumed it was a bug in that interface but perhaps not.

Nobody has mentioned if they have the same issue with a clean aircraft either.

Folks,

I have Saitek Combat Pro Pedals on two machines. If I use toe brakes during start up & taxi, sometimes a little bit of brake signal will show up after I release the brakes.

To see this turn on RCntrl-Enter (this was mentioned above, too).

This is inconsistent pedal brake behavior. It makes a formation takeoff quite dicey. I tried deadzone and curves but that did not overcome this issue.

Simply press the 'W' key and the brake bias will drop to zero and you will be able to roll straight.

I have Saitek combat rudder pedals too, I'm zigzagging up the runway like a drunk and manage to take off once every three attempts, tried the suggested deadzone slider settings etc. to no avail, I think pressing W may be helping - shouldnt ED be picking up all of these Saitek pedal problems and maybe having someone have a look. Even if God forbid it means pulling someone off of the Nevada map (released in May but perhaps not May 2012?) anyway best sim on the planet so Id best not knock it - cheers guys.

Yep, done that. Have issues with Sticky toe breaks, so now, I just use "w" key command to brake.

Nobody mentioned wind speed and direction here?

All missions I have flown have winds no greater than 2 m/s. Don't remember a mission with noticeable weather variables.

I have all but the Curve set the same. Occasional Toe break "stick", but use "w" now.

search the forum a little harder:

Thanks for the tip. Physical effort is not a factor that translates to results in a forum search. Did search using strings such as "pulls right", "Drifts" and "taxi".

My controls indicator (rt ctrl+enter) shows yaw input as dead centre. No brake input and negligible wind.

Must be a loadout asymmetry thing, but for the most part, the only stores that are asymmetrical are the ECM pod and AIM-9's. I don't know if they are significantly different in mass.

Well it's not universal. I've only noticed very minor drifting when taxiing, and not swerving around like a drunk. The only time I wasn't going straight, I think the taxiway may not quite have been level.

Sorry for the double post. I have to address this response since my OP suggested that I was, indeed, zigzagging in an exaggerated manner. It's slight pull to the right which can, when taxi lights are on, indicate massive corrections. I chase the centre line as best I can and am very near the mark. It's just a personal perspective that I feel I may be zigzagging.

Having read the referred link by beers (thank you) I have discovered that it is a real a/c behaviour.
