BF3 was good for mature audiences. I'd love to have BF4 on PS3 (or 4 if it is there..). However, if I'm short on money, and will wait for either, I'll take DCS's product without sweating..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

The hell? Didn't they just release BF3 last year? By the historical development schedule EA/DICE has been using with the Battlefield franchise, we've still got 5 years of them pimping out the series to consoles and kids that love nothing more than to demolish buildings with a .50 cal machine gun.

Only after that can we expect a new title that all but completely fails to live up to EA/DICE's promises of getting back to the root experience of what made BF great. This is a very confusing development indeed.

And I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one

You are NOT the only one.

I played a lot of 1942 and BF2/ desert combat. I bought bf3 and only played about 4 hours of it. Doesnt have the same feel I used to like.

I dont have time for the COD audience. It seems for me that this genre of games is gone past where I liked it.

I did buy red orchestra 2 and had a bit of fun with that but two months after it was released all the servers were empty.

Now if I want a blat at FPS I just do a bit of time in TF2.

Hah! Just looked at the BF4 page. No news, no screenshots, in fact they say they have nothing to say about the product yet but they do have the preorder buy now! That spells bad news to me, a money grab.

They are not as frank as ED. That is their fault. I wish I had 13000 USD for juicing Beczl up.

I quit all FPS..since most are likely to attrack the lonely loser's who have to hack/cheat to gain advantage over others...waste of money over this one issue....for me anyways...

This series declined with the Bad Company spinoff, and to me, officially died with Battlefield 3. DICE and EA have become so money hungry that they have become Activision and essentially just copied and pasted Call of Duty onto some tiny maps, pasted the vehicles from Bad Company 2, then started releasing insanely priced DLC while refusing to actually fix anything wrong with the game. There still is no in game VOIP for PC players, the maps are all made to be played on a console and not with anything above 24 players, and there is no incentive to work as a team. The fact that they're releasing Battlefield 4 so soon after 3 and it's mountain of DLC just tells me that they're infatuated with greed and have officially abandoned the core community that made the old Battlefield games so popular and brought DICE to where they are now.

Yeah, this soon after release. I expected four or five years down the line, but this isn't even enough time to develop new technology, let alone a new engine.. Boo DICE, I haven't even gotten all of my unlocks for he guns yet. Maybe, something like 10 or 12 of them done.

Edit: Yes, I am still feeling effects of drugs from my dental surgery. Feel free to ignore anythat that doesn't sound right.

DCS takes way more HP than BF3.

How much did I pay for BF3?

£30?

I don't remember honestly.

What I do remember is the incredible amount of absolutely mindless fun and entertainment I have had to date just running about with a good impromptu squad, or alone for that matter, headshotting peeps from 450m, laying waste to helos and jets with AAA on Firestorm, Canals, sneaking up and stabbing hill-wookies,.....and the list goes on.

Money well spent? Hell yeah, it's all about the Fun!

BF4?

Bring it on - I'll get my money's worth again :D

I liked Battlefield 1942 (it was on of the first games of it's kind) and Battlefield 2142 (which was basically BF2 without the spammy air power and a larger emphasis on infantry combat). BF3 put me off with the goofy 'launch from browser' and the origin crap. I guess if they're releasing BF4 so soon it probably means they're going the CoD route of 'rinse and repeat' sequel making.

I agree. I had a great time with BF3 and running around with a good squad is even better.

If I had to complain about something, it's Origin. If BF4 is on Steam, omg. Game, set, match.

If Battlefield 4 is in a modern era or doesn't make a pretty massive gameplay change, I don't see the point to it. People buy and play battlefield for multiplayer, continuing the story of BF3 is fine and dandy, but it isn't the driving force behind sales. Besides, BF3 is getting 3 more expansion packs long before BF4 is released. Once the last expansion pack is released, there are going to be 29 maps for BF3, which is plenty.

Basically if BF4 is a direct sequel to BF3 I won't buy it. If BF4 puts 1942, Vietnam, or 2142 into the new game engine it would be worth the investment.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Hell ya. Different type of fun. BF3 and friends on teamspeak spells fun Grab c4 and piss people off. It is a way that you did not worry about it being real.

Well to me BF series is crap when compared to ArmA 2 or Iron Front but BF4's graphics are pretty good I must say.

I wish it was coming in 2017. Then it might feature at least some improvements other than it being a higher number. Though yes, Battlefield 2142 in the new engine would be epic**. I loved that game.

**They better fix Titan lag on release this time :P
