Ells228 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Indeed, a DCS 3rd party dev wiki would be extremely helpful for all, however I can't see it happening due to the time and effort that those guys put in, they likely want to keep their secrets close to their chest and let others find out the same way they did. Sad really because this truly is a massive community project and those secrets would be best shared among us all. Not quite true Dimebag, most teams are helping each other. Things like AFM however are very unique to the aircraft being developed so sharing knowledge wouldn't actually benfit most, just confuse them, based on different data for different aircraft. Also the teams are under an NDA and are somwehat restricted to posting full info in public forums. And I'm sure TFC/ED don't want their "secrets" getting into the wrong hands. Just look at all the nonsense with the FC2 community server hacker.

badger66 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Maybe you could programe the slider on the TM Warthog to act as a nozzle selector lever . Thats an ignorant lookin throttle lever too !!! But what to use for zoom then ?
Pyroflash Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 But what to use for zoom then ? IDK, TIR? Or the keyboard key? If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 11, 2012 ED Team Posted September 11, 2012 I thought using my left throttle as the nozzle selector and the right as the throttle, and my slider _1 as the zoom view. we will have to wait and see, we may be a little ahead of our selves here lol Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Pyroflash Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Oddly enough, this is one problem I won't have when using my X-65F. There is a rotary similar to the ones on the V-22's sitting right by my left thumb. No brainer :). If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Great lookin model though . And it could also possibily opperate from a FARP too .
Gecko6 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 And it could also possibily opperate from a FARP too . I have not figured out the draw of the AV-8 but I am not one to question others likes or dislikes. Farps are only square plots of land and you will need a rolling take off to get airborne with any respectable load out. You will need a road or hi-way to utilize and yet the ground road texturs float above the grass and will cause hell with any type of aircraft landing or taking off. The AV-8 is a very short legged, few shot wonder. I cannot see them being anything but victims of the Mig-29, SU-27 and 33. But I look forward to seeing them in game. What are your plans to employ the AV-8 and what missions are you going to fly?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 14, 2012 ED Team Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) The AV-8b will play the same role as the A-10 does now. Not everyone is a Air to Air combat pilot, I like my ground attack flights, so in multiplayer as long as the A2A guys are doing their job I will be happy, if not I will be very happy on my own in singleplayer. Being part of a squadron we fly missions tailored to every members needs, its the mission designers skill that will allow everyone to participate. Lets face it if you want realism, most pilots don't go anywhere until they have air superiority, so what are you A2A guys going to do ? :) Edited September 14, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? What are your plans to employ the AV-8 and what missions are you going to fly? I've had no issues landing or taking off from roads. The bigger problem is that you can't assign the plane to start from those areas. With AIM-120's, the plane can at least defend itself, but it shouldn't have to as by the time it's out there will be FC3 and fighter cover would already exist. I like fighters, but the Harrier is an attack plane I might decide to buy. Gecko6 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 When I was in Germany during Reforger I had come across a RAF Harrier FARP that was utilizing an American Drive in Theater and they were short taking off and landing inside the fence. I have to say it was pretty cool. I know we can import static objects so maybe you can have someone build a Soccer field and make it an Airport / FARP with in DCS? As for strike aircraft vs. ATA pukes. I am there with you guys. I am just venting I guess because Ron is bringing out the AV-8 before the A-7D. Again I look forward to fly with you guys and I am glad you have your bird on the way!

HAE5904 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Ron is bringing out the AV-8 before the A-7D. Not to jump to fast, but there's no confirmation for a SLUF yet. First the T-2 and the Harrier Plus. Oh and using STO the Harrier has quite some range, it is not that short legged. Otherwise the KC-130 are in handy...... Cheers, Hank
