Deigs Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Hi guys. I need some help. I have just bought one of these BK Gamer 2 units and the manual / directions are VERY basic. Setting up the cables was interesting as the + / - banana plugs that are connected to the rumble unit don't seem to fit into the back amp 'Class 2 Wiring Speaker Level Output' holes very well. Am I using the right cables? Motherboard orange center speaker/sub plug hole ----> into the BK cable splitter -----> and then into Red & black RCA which goes Black RCA into the Line Level Input in the Amp? Also what are your dial settings / Low / High / on or off for using the BK with DCS???? I can't seem to get mine to do anything. I'd love to get a rumble from that GAU-8. I have basic motherboard onboard sound (green, orange, black - 3.5 plugs) using Realtek HD Audio Manager. I'm using a 5.1 logitech Z906 speaker system. Is investing in a soundcard going to improve things? Edited September 9, 2012 by Deigs [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 161 Squadron Australia's DCS Community
Kuky Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Try different speaker settings (in windows/sound card settings), I connected mine long time ago (can't use it now till I move into new house as my parents don't like low freq rumble subs make) so cant remeber exactly what I had to do to get mine working. I don't have a buttkicker, but I run two bass shaker tactile transducers. I use a 100W subwoofer plate amp to drive them. Sound card alone may not have power enough to drive the 'Kicker, consider buying a plate amp instead. some examples for you... Polo Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Are you sure that your PC is actually outputting a signal to the subwoofer? I'm using an Auzentech X-Fi Forte (modified Creative Labs X-Fi) and I needed to go into the sound card software and setup a crossover for the bass to the subwoofer and the BG2 for it to work. In the end I plugged the BG2 into the front speaker output on the sound card as it also works for headphones, whereas with headphones on the X-Fi there is no subwoofer output. This is with a Logitech Z5500 5.1 system, so the earlier model of what you are using now. Also ensure you turn the BG2 volume up as well. I keep the cutoff filters on and set the cutin frequency to minimum. No vibrations = no simming. :) The buttkicker I have is the LFE Kit not the gamer version and it's mounted underneath my chair (it's one of the recliner chairs) and it does shake a lot so because I am living at my parents place for a while and I'm on top floor (I'm having new house built right now) I don't use it as I don't want to annoy my dad too much. Once I have the new house and my room it'll be on again :) PS: by the way to make sure bass signal is fed to the amp, I use small headphones and try every output on the sound card (with different speaker configuration in sound card setting) so know what signal goes where, and once I have know which output to use connect the amp to it. Usually the sub output is shared with centre speaker and I think left channel on this output is sub and centre on right channel. since RCA connector to the amp is mono you might need to get adapter to separate stereo socket to double mono socket, this way you can pick if you want left(sub) or right(centre) output to the buttkicker amp. LeLv30_Superbus Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I have my BK2 Gamer plugged to the usual left-right speaker output with the splitter cable. It works great that way. No need to use a subwoofer output. Buttkicker has been the easiest peripherial device to install, ever. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click to view pictures of my deskpit
schkorpio Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Hi guys, I've just recieved my BK gamer v2 and well... it works too well lol - and its going to annoy my neighbouring apartments. Can anyone recommoned a way to isolate the sound / vibration only to the seat of my chair, or somehow to my body only? i put the PC sound and intensity on max - i test fired the GAU-8 for 1 second and wow, i can see why its called a butt-kicker. It its like riding a wild horse when you fire the GAU-8 - It would make for a cheap washing machine if you attached it to a metal box :) My problem i think is that because it is attached to the metal rod on underneath the seat of my office chair, it vibrates the entire chair so much that the chair acts like a huge subwoofer -i can even hear a-10 "altitude" "altitude" warning voice through my chair. I mainly got this because I thought it would be quiet like a game controller rumble. So would really appreciate if anyone can share their clever ideas on isolating the vibs to my seat :) otherwise it will be on ebay... :( Sponsored by: http://www.ozpc.com.au
Whisky One Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Hi man I also have a BKGamer 2. I use 2 door mats to isolate the vibrations . In my new room I will also put sound isolating floorboards below the entire pit. finding the right settings during flight is what I try. Once I do the startup I turn the BK on. A couple of clicks on the + and then I'll taxi. (when the red light is on lower the volume with the - button. that's the ideal setting. I cutoff the high frequency at around 80-110. when you are building up speed on the runway you should have a good rumble. after the flaps and gear is up I lower the volume a couple of clicks with the - button. Then with the correct setting you can feel the GAU-8 without the red light on.
mr_mojo97 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 HI all, I'm thinking about getting a BK 2. Can anyone tell me a bit more about it and what I need to set one up? Also what is it like - in every sense? I wear headpones all the time - does this matter? Does it add to immersion much or is it basically just a vibration plate that vibrates all the time? Sabre-TLA Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I've got one too and it's great fun, except when you get hit by a SAM and it scares the sh*t out of you! :megalol: The guns are awesome but you can also feel when the bombs explode or the gear goes up or down. It's pretty cool for such a simple mechanism. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates

wasyl00 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I have Buttkicker Gamer 2 and use it all the time. Highly recommended not only for Sims also great to other games, music and movies. Basically feedback is driven by sound source so it (amp) can be hooked to any sound producing source. Only requirement is to have suitable mounting place, office chair is ideal. Most racing seats also have mounting location for it as standard. Only thing which is missing, for more demanding users may be the fact that DCS doesn't have support from software like SimVibe which is using physics data extracted from the sim to give you more accurate feedback instead of sound source. Maybe it's a detail for some but I noticed big difference in the other especially driving sims. And little off topic recommendation for all those who like tactile feedback. Check out THESE headphones. I bought them around 2 months ago and man...they have THE KICK. The trick is they have an extra driver (powered by single AA battery) which instead of sound is producing vibrations aaaand is able to shake nicely in tune with Buttkicker. For me absolutely great exerience. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 10 Pro x64, Asus PG279Q, i7-6700K, Nvidia GTX1080TI, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD, TM Warthog, Saitek Combat Pro Rudder Pedals, TIR5+Trackclip
Fuzzysham Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I just set this up tonight and I'm having a hard time balancing sounds. The setup was a pain for me. I have the Soundblaster Zxr and use Sennheiser HD800 headphones with it. The headphone out on the Zxr is a 1/4" plug versus a 3.5mm so I needed an adapter to get that plugged in. Then I needed another adapter so I could plug in my HD800 1/4" plug into the mini output on the splitter. Luckily over the years I have collected a lot of that stuff. So, I am having a tough time tweaking this thing without going to clipping territory. The GAU sounds fantastic but other sounds are weak. When flying the F-15 I want to feel the AB kick in and know when its on by a nice rumble. So that required me to turn up the volume on the amp. Well I got insta-killed in single-player and it immediately put me to outside view and I was absolutely blasted by the kicker and it went to clipping heaven. Is there any way to tweak specific sounds like external afterburner, mainly?
rcjonessnp175 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Dcs world is in desperate need for a specific sound mod for the Buttkicker stuff I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.
JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I also got my new BK2 attached to my Obuttor R3volution, and it really is nice to feel the landing gear coming up in the Mig-21, Bomb Impacts, 3 seconds after you see them explode, etc... However, the BK experience is very sensitive to Sound-MODs. For instance, there is a great discrepany in bass/low freq noise between A-10C and Huey already with vanilla sounds. I found that with some sound Mods this discrepancy is even bigger. Hence, finding a BK2 Setting, that fits for every DCS-Module is not easy, if possible at all, thats my experience so far. I still keep fiddling with BK2 settings currently. Windows 10, I7 8700k@5,15GHz, 32GB Ram, GTX1080, HOTAS Warthog, Oculus Rift CV1, Obutto R3volution, Buttkicker [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ЯБоГ32_Принз

Mango Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I'll be getting the BG2 once it's back in stock. Still confused about integration, though. If I'm using plain headphones in my PC's front jack (and windows speaker settings are set to "headphones"), then I have to plug the BG2 amplifier into the front speakers port on the sound card, correct? If I have the high cut-off frequency set correctly, will this have the same effect as using 5.1 speakers and plugging the BG2 into the center/sub port?

harf4ng Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I bought a buttkicker gamer 2 and just installed it in my obutto r3volution cockpit. I use the spdif output because my headphones are 7.1 (steelseries siberia 800). So, I had to buy some hardware to be able to connect the gamer 2 : - a SPDIF splitter, so I have the sound output connected to both the buttkicker and to my headphones ; - a SPDIF to RCA converter, as the buttkicker needs RCA and do not have a spdif input ; - and to connect the buttkicker to my RCA converter, I used a male male single RCA wire, so on one end I plug the wire provided with the buttkicker, on the other end the adapter provided with the buttkicker, but then I had female rca on both end so I had to get male male RCA to connect them. Now, in the doc they advice for games to put low cutoff to on, high cutoff to on, and freq knob to 40 hz. But do I have to setup something special on my computer? They suggest to put bass level to 50% min, but on windows 10 I do not know where is such a setup. Also, do you think I should put some isolated mat below my obutto, to not have issues with my neighbor? And what kind of stuff? Also, I guess I have to either switch starting music of DCS to off, or to put the buttkicker to on only when I'm on the runway, as if I do not, the seat is vibrating just with the starting music ^^ Thanks Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
DayGlow Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Bought a Subpac S2 myself http://thesubpac.com/subpac-s2-2/ Looked at the buttkicker, but I use headphones and it seems to be a pain to split and get the proper levels. This is designed for headphones and is ready to adjust the level. No idea how it compares as I never used the buttkicker, but it feels great in all different games. harf4ng Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 You say made for headphones except when you use a wireless headphone like me. Though as my Siberia 800 has a jack line out guess I can connect it that way, though this requires a wire then. What I like with my buttkicker, it makes my sticks vibrating too, as they are tied to the seat :) This subpac is more expensive than a buttkicker as well... DayGlow Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 True, but when I was looking the BK was sold out pretty much everywhere, and when I found one shipping to Canada was stupid expensive.
