Tailgate Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I still have Vers 1.1.1.1 A-10 standalone installed, is that going to create any problems for the DCSW updates?
MemphisBelle Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I still have Vers 1.1.1.1 A-10 standalone installed, is that going to create any problems for the DCSW updates? I highly recommend to download the newst stuff...otherwise you´ll be all alone on the serverlist, and you wont get the newest features BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
Tailgate Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I ran both 1.1.1.1 and 1.2.0 without issues, just wondering if keeping 1.1 will create issues with 1.2.1. Anyway, I think it's time to mothball the standalone.
Echo38 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 All right, I've finally updated, and I'm happy to say that I ran into no problems with activation. I followed the new instructions given by Wags and Viper, and there was no loss of either activation or deact. Full process: I uninstalled World 1.2.0 (no deactivation). I then installed World 1.2.1, ran the DCS World shortcut from the Start Menu & let it autoupdate, then installed A-10C 1.2.1 and P-51D 1.2.1. I clicked on Multiplayer, confirmed my keys (which were remembered) in the activation window, and that was that. 9 activations left for each module. Excellent job sorting this problem out in a reasonably short period of time, E.D. [tips hat]
Python Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Im new to world as i only installed it yesterday with dcs A10 and P51 on top. It runs fine and all but there is one annoying thing... buildings are flickering black as you approach them. is this a known bug? All settings on highest they can be. Windows 7 64 and it is on an SSD. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Cookie Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 buildings are flickering black as you approach them. is this a known bug? Yes, it is a known bug, and AFAIK it is being worked on. - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs
Corrigan Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I don't know if it's being worked on... I think Mustang said it's because buildings use two different types of model for different distances and what you see is the switch. Dunno if that's something that can be fixed. Cookie Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Oh okay, so basically it´s an LOD problem? - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs
Python Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Ahh let atleast it isn't a fault with my new rig, it is pretty annoying though, I hope ED can find a solution. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Corrigan Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Oh okay, so basically it´s an LOD problem? Something like that. The 'flicker' you see is the transition from a .blk model to an .edm model, nearly all the city structures render in this fashion in DCS and have done since it's existed. Echo38 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 It is, but it's worth it, after the hours of frustrating installation & configuration are over, and the autoupdater should make the process much simpler from now on.

Bucic Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Updated MiG-25, F/A-18C 3D models I'd like to ask about some issue after being inactive on the forums for quite a while, so please don't take it as "he posts only to talk about what stinks", ok? I loiter over update-threads, admiring the leaps ED makes with DCS as a platform, so give me a break! ;) I saw a video on the updated MiG-25, F/A-18C 3D models yesterday. They look great but the afterburner cones look bad. And the "blinking" is like someone can't accept 90's are no more :P The glitches aside - they may be specific to the bloke's PC. Are there any plans to replace the afterburner cones effect? SkateZilla Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 the Burner flickering is a bug. The Cones look great when mixed with Heat Blur and the Animations. aaron886 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 the Center Fuel Tank goes through the Gear Doors. the Rudder Control Surfaces are Animated Backwards... there's a long list of bugs for the New F-18C And the nose is shaped wrong, the APX-111 antennas are incorrectly spaced, the ALR-67 antennas are incorrectly shaped, the UHF comm antennas are a bit off, the nosegear strut is too thin, the intakes are too "tall," the LAU-7A racks are incorrectly shaped, the VEVs do not open wide enough in burner and the seat should probably be a NACES seat and not an SJU-5 for a late-model Charlie Hornet but hey... it's still a pretty good model. ;)
