ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 4, 2012 ED Team Share Posted October 4, 2012 Just tried one screen i.e x3 screens in eyefinity and managed to get 18 - 22 fps looking at terrain, which is a improvement but no where near what I was getting running all 5 screens before. I hope ED dont give up looking at the FPS issue, it still seems strange to me I can go from 1.2.0 running 5 screens 30fps + solid to this reduced performance. I think I will have to modify the High.lua and have a tweak to get my setup working right again :( Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Corrigan
My problem: Framerates fine (perhaps a bit lower), but an awful stuttering and some input lag, making 40 fps feel like 15. My solution: Setting anisotropic filtering to 'application controlled' in the nvidia control panel. Playable again! lokitexas
I think this game series is fast approaching a "cheesed off point" for most people..ED beware I dont think so. The fact that the new World version is a couple days old, and has already been updated with the new feature called autoupdater, and the issues people are having already addressed by ED, makes your doomsday theory way off base. All issues brought up are being worked on and improvements already made. The communication has been great as well. i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
Corrigan
A good thing about ED's patches: That they fix small details, like this TGP functionality adjustment, even years after release. I like how they continuously try to make it as realistic as possible and don't just say "now, it's good enough". A bad thing about ED's patches: Every update seems to introduce some new, ubiquitous bug, which one is tempted to think shouldn't have been left in at release. I'd rather wait a few days more for the patch, than have to wait months for fixes to silly little problems like broken cockpit shadows or blue smoke trails. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 4, 2012 ED Team Share Posted October 4, 2012 Even with the issues I am having it is very encouraging from ED so far, good communication and the auto update are steps in the right direction and I welcome it. for now I have had to go back to 3 screens settings on low/medium and not exporting my mfd's, going to wait for ED to patch again and go from there. _Dredd
OK I just went through some testing on 12.6 ATI drivers and new updates. Full screen mode runs better than windowed. This was opposite in 1.2.0 ? System specs i7 3930k @ 4.6 Intel 520 SSD single drive ASUS 7970 DELL 27" 1920x1200 Default 12.6 ATI drivers settings. graphics.cfg 120fps. 1 monitor, 1920x1200 All settings maxed, mirrors on, MSAA 4x. HDR normal. Clutter/bushes 0m Trees 9000m Preload 150000m Test on Instant Action; Hard - Russian Lakes Spring. TrackIR disabled(made no impact) ALT/HDG mode on, TGP on. vsync disabled External view in windowed mode, when viewing the plane level on horizon up and down, the fps goes from >60 drop to 30fps flat. 30fps limiter enabled somewhere? as per in pit? odd. With Full screen mode it doesn't, and moves from 50-61, to >100 looking straight up. with vsync turned off , stutter was less noticeable also, though it was still there but not really that bad. Vsync on, it was terrible. Pit fps was 27-31 with TGP on. Also in windows aero mode and windows basic mode, there was no difference, and in-game disable aero mode with windows aero enabled made no difference. Here's the other weird thing; I swear last night I saw orange gun flame from the GAU. But now I dont as if it sometimes only works. Maybe this is firing from a certain AOA?? really weird. TZeer
Just saw this thread. I'm getting reduced performance as well. Before it has been my CPU that has been holding back the performance in certain scenarios. But now it's my pair of GTX 580 that are being used 100%. I don't know what you have done in the sim, but for my GTX 580 in SLI to be taxed @ 100% just looking out the cockpit is quite extreme. For info, I have MSAA and TSAA turned off. Before 1.2.1 I used the high lua from Kuky, while I reduced structures to this: structures = {30, 20000}; Made me possible to run a very smooth sim with 60 FPS stable most of the time. Certain areas like Novorossiysk would get me down to about 40 FPS, but this was due to the CPU. Now my 2xGTX 580 are @ 100% for just looking out the window. No TGP or anything else showing. Corvus
I've noticed one thing, when in cold and dark A10 my fps are holding around 43, but with all system started it drops to 34 (no TGP or any other resource hungry systems on MFDs). What's odd- in Ka-50 i have 44 fps in ready to take off heli. Another thing- after 1.2.1 launch i wrote i have 25 fps flying over Batumi, where before i had around 40 fps there... What i didn't noticed is that it's not just Batumi- it's almost everywhere, city or not. Strange. Leto
For those having performance problems, please first disable hardware (graphics card) antialiasing and software (game) MSAA and TSAA. Then examine your performance. If improved, then just enable MSAA and examine change. I also advise adjusting your clutter/bushes slider and tree visibility sliders as these can have a big impact. Naturally, also make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Thanks Done. Clutter/Bushes/Trees all to the left (minimum settings) Disabled AA/AF in NVIDIA control panel and AA in DCS. Fired up first A10 instant mission... 40 fps (I got around 60 with 1.2.0 and AA/AF on in this mission)... positive effect: no microstutter Tried forcing AA only, AF only and both in control panel. Slightly decreased fps (around 35 or with higher AA settings 30) but due to microstutter it's not playable Set back to application controlled AA/AF with 4x in DCS results in around 30-35 fps. But due to microstutter it's not playable Only way for me to get rid of microstutters is to disable AA&AF in NVIDIA control panel. Each value I set forced or application controled leads back to microstutter.
