Slap_Chop Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It's working great for me cOff. Have not had any problems with it at all. Not one. Well done. It certainly opens up so many more possibilities for the developers and users and takes off that huge pressure of certifying a 5GB updates to bring fixes to us. I think it's fantastic and will only make this product greater than it already is. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Chazz_BMF Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 As the author of the autoupdater, I'm somewhat interested in how it's doing in the wild. Works like a charm. ED Team c0ff Posted October 4, 2012 ED Team Posted October 4, 2012 Only downside is, that is now impossible to install any mods, without it being overwritten by next update. I'm thinking on a partial solution. The real solution will be to have a well documented and unified system for all user mods, but that's somewhat on the horizon at best. Dmitry S. Joy Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Works like a charm. Only downside is, that is now impossible to install any mods, without it being overwritten by next update. Well, it moves your files (including the directory structure) to the folder _backup.000 on the DCS World folder. I think you just need to copy everything inside the folder _backup.000 back to the DCS World folder to get your mods working again. I think you just need to copy everything inside the folder _backup.000 back to the DCS World folder to get your mods working again. Yeah I know, but its not an ideal solution. The best would be some kind of dedicated mod structure, like it is in so many other games :) :pilotfly:Wolfpack Production:pilotfly: -=<[WiN 10, I7 3770K @ 4,5 Ghz, Corsair H100i, Sabertooth Z77, 16 GB Dominator, Sapphire 7970 VaporX 6GB, C70 Vengance, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro rudder, Track IR, Beyerdynamics MMX 300 ]>=- DCS/FC2/FC3/Arma videos on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/WolfpackproductionDK "Fortes Furtuna Juvat"

Magnum Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Every time the updater runs, I have to re-do my view.lua file and re-apply the NvidiaSurround fix. I run a resolution of 5760x1080. This is somewhat annoying, but it's much bettter than having to uninstall and reinstall the whole damn thing. I'm really looking forward to patch notes with the updater.

Dejjvid Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Patch notes for the new builds as a sticky post. We really, really need a single thread for the patch notes from the devs. Updated for every build you send us. We find all kinds of "features" or bugs everyday, and we spend more time trying to figure out what's going on then actually playing. If we know its an issue we can drop it instead of trying to figure out what it's about. Edit: only devs/testers should be able to post in that thread. I don't see the big issue here. I have a bunch of modded files. When the autoupdate is done DCS creates a "backup.000" folder in the DCS World folder. In there you will find all your modded files in their correct folders. I just copy and paste all of these folders into the DCS World directory and POOF i'm done and back to where I was before the update. aaron886 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 As the author of the autoupdater, I'm somewhat interested in how it's doing in the wild. Absolutely stellar. For those of us who have been using ED sims for years, this is such a welcome improvement. Cant wait to see it patch the FPS issues people are complaining about... then we'll see how much they like it. :D Great work.

cichlidfan Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I just copy and paste all of these folders into the DCS World directory and POOF i'm done and back to where I was before the update. Unless the patch includes one or more of your modded files (i.e. graphics.cfg), in which case, you just broke the patch. I might be a bit careful in just copying everything back without checking the log file to see what got altered.
