SweetFX for DCS ??

Got it totally sorted out thanks to GregP. Here's some before and after shots, after about an hour of experimenation.. Looks alot better IMHO and zero FPS hit.

Hi all,

 

Any chance of someone doing an install guide to have sweetfx running in Radeon Pro (RP)? I have Version v1.1.0.6 but I'm not sure how to install, I cant get the sweetfx tab into RP.

I got it working:

 

1. download SweetFX and extract it to any directory

2. download RadeonPro 1.1.1.0 version (the installation exe is called RadeonPro_Preview.exe don't get the RadeonPro RC1.exe as this is 1.1.0.6 version which doesn't see SweetFX and you don't get it as option in settings)

3. install RadeonPro anywhere (I used default installation path)

 

Once you start RadeonPro through start menu, it will have SweetFX settings in General Settings (icon for settings is on top menu) and there you need to specify where you extracted SweetFX

 

rest is up to you to create a profile for DCS (pointing to DCS.exe in DCS World/Bin folder) and start playing around with settings and tweaks :)

I'm playing around with settings also, just trial and error :D

I'm trying to use only little tweaking, mostly with bloom and HDR

I only use the default values of sharpen. I like DCS the way it is, but a bit of cristal clear sharpness never hurts. :p

I'm messing around with vibrance (.50), LumaSharpen (1.60), CinemaGP? and something else. the HDR option is a big FPS hit through RP I noticed, cut my FPS by half (usually 50+ maxed out with HDR on normal in game).

 

Another thing I noticed is the side by side screenshot comparison mode messes with the settings. For example, I set the option to 3 (diagonal mode) and the left side became very over saturated and dark, the right side fine. At the time the only option I had activated was splitscreen, so I think it's a bug (still beta).

 

2 last points -

 

1. Thanks to GregP, I sorted this out -- If for some reason the program stops working (I noticed because the FPS counter failed to show up after loading), go to overall settings and check "Disable 64 bit support" and save, then uncheck and save again. It kick started RP back into action and has worked 100% afterwards.

 

2. In the readme, it mentions you can Alt-tab out of game, change settings in the settings.txt file, save them and then alt-tab back into game and they will work right away. This did not work at all in DCS, and I had to continually quit, change settings, reload, toggle Ctrl-S (turn off/on SweetFx) to see the differences.

Check out Guru3d. It does work for nvidia, but from what I read, you have to place the files into the game directories..

I would love to have this for DCS as the picture style is already very neutral so it would be nice to spice it up a little.

F U nvidia. All them nice driver tweaks but guess what. A poor ass brazilian guy made ATI make more stuff possible than you. Screw you moneymaking, franchise milking SOBs.

Still cant see the setting in General??? Any ideas? I even uninstalled/ reinstalled RP - nada in general tab regarding sweetfx

I believe the newest one from AMD's site.. Are you 100% it's 1.1.1.0? When I changed to the preview version, I used Revo Uninstaller to d uninstall, took out all the Reg keys too, maybe try that.. If you are using 1.1.1.0, you have to have it there... Are you using an AMD GPU?

Funkster, have you been using radeonPro 1.0.6 before? When did you install the latest radeonPro? Make sure you uninstall radeonPro cleanly before installing an update. Cleanly - check the RadeonPro folder and make sure it's empty! Especially the AppProfile.dll likes to stay around there when you have programs running during the install. That dll file is there to monitor processes. Make sure you always "run as admin" when installing & uninstalling stuff.

 

 

What is your GPU setup? One card? Two cards? AMD or nvidia? (dumb question but gotta make sure man)

hmmm, it looks a little bit comic. . . exactly how dcs looks like several versions ago and the devs changed successfully. . . i am pretty happy dcs looks like in 1.2.2.

I suppose the screenshots Spetz provided probably looked good on his monitor, but as we know other peoples screens are setup for different levels of warmth/cold and image quality, so what he sees probably isn't what we see :)
