skymaster9999
Hallo gentlemen, are you willing to get some of your fps back? I eagerly read this thread and did a little test. My latest "good fps" version was 1.1.0.9. I installed it together with latest "world" version, did a backup of world's DCS World\Bazar\World\Shapes dir and then copied content of the 1.1.0.9 Shapes into the World install - let it overwrite some files. Hooray I got quite a lot of my fps back this way - In fps reference mission I use increase from 18fps to 33fps - not bad:music_whistling:FPSreference.miz Edited March 20, 2013 by skymaster9999 Phenom II X4 BE@4GHz, 8GB Ram DDR3 9clock, Intel 320 SSD, MSI Twinfrozr GTX560Ti, Win7 64, TrackIR5, Hotas Cougar, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals Textures High, Scenes Medium, Civ Traffic Low, Water Medium, Visib Range High, Heat Blur On, Shadows High, Res 1680x1050, Res of Cockpit Displays 256, MSAA 8xQ, HDR Warm, Clutter/Bushes 31m, Trees 5520m, Cockpit Shadows On, TSSAA Off, Mirrors Off

TZeer
Ok, after a long delay I have finally been able to do the testing. Sorry it took so much time, but one of my 580's went kaput, and I had no means to test it. Got myself a GTX Titan ( after robbing a bank :p ), and I have done the test as requested. The first one is the original boat-1.edm file. Gives me 77 FPS Second one is the first boat-1.edm file you sent me, this one gave me 115 FPS. And this one is the last one you sent me. 86 FPS. The big difference in those shots are the number of objects...

Leto
It seems to me the problems found here could be a big fps boost, when solved. Why do we hear nothing more of it? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 11, 2013 ED Team Share Posted June 11, 2013 I dont think we will get any optimisation of the current engine, with EDGE on the horizon why would they spend time fixing an old engine or models. I just hope my gamble with sticking with ATI works out in the end, because at the moment I get some pretty big hits with fps. Dust, smoke, some airfields, cbu's and so on. . . amazingme
The bottom line is.. the game, comparing to other titles, is in another league. At the time it was developed, DirectX 9 was the industry standard, so to speak. The requirements for creating such a beautifully designed sim exceeds what directx 9 can offer in matter of processing large amounts of objects, for example. So, the real culprit here is, in fact, a combination of factors: directx 9, amd drivers and the complexity of the sim itself. I think ED really put their maximun effort in creating the World as it is atm, inspite of these, I consider, minor graphics inconveniences. I hope that World 2 will overcome these problems and offer us "thee" BEST SIM EVER MADE. Thanks ED! King_Hrothgar
I predict in 2 years this will be neromancied again, and we'll still be waiting for EDGE. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. :(

I guess you haven't seen the videos using the EDG engine yet. Or seen the post from the testers who are using it right now. There are some beautiful scenes to be appreciated available for your perusing should you choose to take advantage of them.
