BaD CrC Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 This was a feature I was waiting for a loooong time. Finaly extraction of our downed squad mates will be feasible and more realistic. Even more now we have the HUEY! Thanks a lot ED. This feature deserved to be listed in the improvement list of 1.2.4. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Robin_Hood Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Really ? It works now ? I hadn't noticed. If so, this is a long-awaited fix ! I will test that. Search And Rescues, here we come:) 2nd French Fighter Squadron
Mustang Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 This is a BIG thing if true, I never knew about this! imagine the possibilities, you get shot down, relay your lat/long to the SAR and wait for the pickup (could be quite tense for the UH-1 pilot having to fly into a hot zone)
Blaze Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Didn't know about this one. Woo! :D i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. You can want it, you can ask for it, but you don't automatically deserve it. "
Blaze Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Now if only you can start as a pilot on the ground, walk up to a client aircraft and "jump in." i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. 159th_Falcon Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Now if only you can start as a pilot on the ground, walk up to a client aircraft and "jump in." Must be possible somehow, i see a nice (and useful/realistic) challenge for the UH-1H and MI-8 teams here.:D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
EchoMasterMind Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I'd love a neat animation of you climbing the ladder and getting comfy in the seat before starting the plane/helicopter  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GodsPrototype Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 That's amazing. I'm going to check that out now! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rongor Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 This feature can of course only considered being completed when the downed client is able to enter another clients huey as a passenger. Brought back to an airbase, gets dropped there and enters a new spawned plane to get back into the action.
Grimes Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Landing location is visible, player movement after that is not. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Suchacz Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) It would be great, if a downed pilot can transmit some distress radio signal which can be used for navigation Edited May 4, 2013 by Suchacz Per aspera ad astra! Yellonet Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 As a downed pilot it could be interesting to try and avoid player controlled enemy vehicles looking for you, while at the same time trying to get to the extraction point... :) i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
hog_driver111th Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I remember (haven't been around for a while) that with TARS, when you ejected you could only contact someone on 121.5 or so, and that had a limited range due to it being a hand held radio. 1 A-10C - FC3 - CA - L-39 - UH1 - P-51 - Hawk - BS2 - F-86 - Gazelle - F-5E - AV8B - F/A-18C i5-4590 - GTX 1060 - Oculus CV1 - TM:Warthog [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic9979_1.gif[/sIGPIC]
Cali Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 A Huey supported by a few BS......now that is something I would like to do. I need to get flying and get my BS skills back up to par. Hope this is true and not "jumping the gun" type of thing. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
HungaroJET Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Have you ever checked Folks how can you (as ejected pilot) jump in vehicles/aircrafts now with this patch ? I mean in previous version we were able to jump in UAZ and other non armed/armoured vehicles, (with easter-egg-mods) but AFAIK ejected pilot and the vehicle what he driven was not visible for other players :( Would be nice to jump in CA vehicles and into aircrafts too as an ejected pilot and transporting back to base and hop again into a client flyable aircraft by MP mission  ...Seems DCSW is getting closer to ARMA :) at least i hope... 69iAFMike Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Tried it with a friend yesterday. Best I could do was to walk into the Huey, with the pilot just magically stepping up onto the floor, head poking through the top. It was funny.
Cali Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Could you fly away with the downed pilot? i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
69iAFMike Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I kept falling off when the helicopter turned. It's just collision models doing their thing, just like standing on the wings of various other models.
HungaroJET Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) I tried to hop into a static UAZ (i put it into mission - was not a builtin scenery object) with an ejected Eagle pilot. I walked next to the car but when i hit the spacebar key then DCSW crashed immediately. :( This "jump into car" worked earlier in Warthog Betas... I kept falling off when the helicopter turned. BaD CrC Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Guys. As Grimes said, you just can see the ejected pilot at the position where he touched the ground in MP. But your mates won't see you if you are moving. Being able to see the downed pilot is already a huge progress from my point of view since I was waiting for this simple feature for years and years. It's a perfect timing for the Huey to be available since this chopper will most likely be used for SAR missions in my squad. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden

Robin_Hood Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Well, seeing the pilot where he landed is a start. It shows things are moving forward, and I'm sure ED will try and improve upon that in future patches 2nd French Fighter Squadron
VincentLaw Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) I tried to hop into a static UAZ (i put it into mission - was not a builtin scenery object) with an ejected Eagle pilot. I walked next to the car but when i hit the spacebar key then DCSW crashed immediately. :( This "jump into car" worked earlier in Warthog Betas... Try to use the spacebar key, that had the get in/get out function earlier which glued the pilot into the vehicle The easter egg still works, but you must place the vehicle as a vehicle, not as a static object. Then the game will not crash when you get in a vehicle. You can then press space bar again to get out, but when you do, the vehicle will respawn as a static object instead of a vehicle, so if you try to get back in a second time it will crash. You should also be able to drive unarmed hummers now too without modification. I checked the lua file and "human_vehicle" has been added to M1025 Hummer.lua. edit: Just checked and the hummer does work with the easter egg by default now.
