How's the (as it comes off the roll, so to speak) side by side coming along?

1. Record a Track.

2. Capture this track with a screen capture software and convert it to a video.

3. Edit the files in DCS that you want to have in comparison. (i'ts the server.lua in this case. )

4. Rerun the tack and capture it again like in step 2.

5. Now Run both videos you have recorded side by side synchronised and capture it again with the screencapture software. (BTW I'm using BB FlasgBack Pro recorder)

Other side-by-side example that was exactly done in the same way:

...and while going absolutely off-topic... Her is my favoured 1:1 comparison:

I've the stutters, too. Have it on all axis, most on the yaw axis with TIR 5.2 software.

sorry- but do it here or never - because you don't have permission to write a PM to me.

I don't know where this is heading again...

I would really like to answer your question - but I can't, as long you don't tell me to which request of mine you referring. - I simply have (again) now clue what you are talking about. That's all.

well, in that case PeterP, all you need to do is refer back to post #25, as you seem to have an understanding of your current "no clue" in your then following post.

This must happen at your end and has to do something how your Tracjk-IR sees your tracking dots or you system is processing your movement to slow.

Examine the "Camera" window in your Track-Ir software to see what the camera sees.

I would suggest to change change your "Light Filter Threshold" setting of your Track-Ir camera and/or move it closer to your head somehow.

So you have a more reliable and smother tracking.

As for your information, i'm not the only one who "suddenly" sees changes. I didn't even start this thread. Secondly, nothing, but nothing has changed in my setup prior to installing 1.2.6. Only "after" installing 1.2.6. and finding this change in behaviour, i installed the latest beta video drivers only to see that they didn't make a change in that behaviour

Nor did i make changes in my TrackIR settings. If i bring up the TrackIR screen and look around, motion is silky smooth. It has certainly nothing to do with the Light Filter Treshold, nor with the position towards my head.

I should add I'm not seeing this when looking back towards the shoulder view. I'm seeing this stutter when looking 15-20 degrees each side of the HUD, this at the moment is where it is most noticeable.

+ 1 (and it's not to be seen if you stop TrackIR and use the view keys to pan around, that goes smooth).

OK- whatever - I don't have it.

I just wanted to point out that it has (whatever it is) nothing to do with the new ShulderSize feature.

By what it got fixed and which games?

by updates... IL-2, Warthunder, DCS...

some versions had this stutter some don't... I guess is something with synchronizing inputs from controllers with the game and sometimes not all goes OK and stutters appear.

I played around with trackir settings and also with the view.lua values, and to some degree I could improve the smoothness but have given up for now and left everything default.

I'm also used Peters neck mod, 1.2.5 and 1.2.6 versions and w no noticeable difference with the effect I'm seeing now.

I noticed at the bottom of view.lua are gain values which I'm not sure if they were there before in 1.2.5(didn't have a backup to compare), but my hunch is that there might be new values in natural head movement that is causing smooth head movement to have a slight stutter.

If I look forward and move head in yaw or pitch slowly there is some stepping in frames. Which feels like stutter, that's the best I can describe it. Maybe this is working against the trackir input or refining it.

Only a tester I guess could ask the dev team for input here on how natural head movement has been changed.

That's a good description of what i'm experiencing. Can't tell anything on 1.2.5 because i skipped that version (did install it but didn't really play it due to personal life) but i certainly wasn't there in 1.2.4. and it certainly isn't there in the few other sims i have installed (FSX, IL-2 COD, ROF and GTR2) because that's the first thing i checked.

And like i mentioned above, viewing around with the keys doesn't has this problem either.

Just updated on 1.2.6 and can confirm what has been said, turning head makes the image stutter as hell (whatever is causing it is very annoying).

And I definetly did not have any problems like that in 1.2.5 at all.

I also had this problem. Not as noticeable with the terrain but very noticeable with the cockpit frame. This may not be the same issue the others have had but it seemed trackir was causing screen tearing in game although frame rates were below refresh rate. Try to enable vsync in game or at the driver level as that fixed it for me.

After a quick test I'm still getting tearing with trackir and vsync off. I did recently install the 13.10 beta drivers. So I will test if its the drivers or dcs that is causing my issue.

Edit: I installed the 10.4 drivers but the tearing still occurs without vsync on. There have been no other changes to my system.

I do not have this issue.

I'm not saying that it doesn't exist, but it is clearly not a global problem.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

So Ive tried some things here.

I rolled back from 1.2.6 on 1.2.5 and I did not have any issue with tearing image on that version. No graphic change no driver change nothing just like that.

Than I deleted everything and instaled clean version of 1.2.6 and yet again the tearing is there.

So whatever you changed from 1.2.5 to 1.2.6 regarding views undo it, because Im ***** sick of it. My eyes hurt as hell after 20min of flying with this image tearing.

I dont care if some other people dont have that problem, I do. I did nothing on my end that would cause this, just downloaded new version of the program and if it brakes gameplay for even a small group of ppl it is a no go.

What I noticed is that the fps goes past the refresh rate in 1.2.6. I decreased the fps limit in the config file to about 55, and that stopped the tearing. Turning on vsync by itself did not help.

Still, the view movement in 1.2.6 is choppy as hell compared to 1.2.5. A bunch of us who fly the P-51 have reverted to 1.2.5 because 1.2.6 introduced a lot of problems that screwed things up, decreased server stability, ffb bugs, etc.

I dont have this issue but for those that do could it be something to do with Nvidia adaptive Vsync ?

I doubt it, because I don't have an nvidia card.:smilewink:

I've been turning down settings for the last couple of weeks trying to get a really smooth frame rate and still make it look good.

then today I just put everything on high and went from no MSAA to 8x MSAA in 2560x1440 on a GeForce 680mx in my imac.......the frame rate is no worse than with all the goodies turned off.

I couldn't believe what I'd been missing out on.

I figured it was realistic to assume the engines poor CPU utilisation wouldn't effect GPU effect like MSAA or HDR.

What I found interesting was watching what cores the game were running off on my i7 3770 3.4/3.9 CPU .

I tried assigning trackir to a core the game wasn't using. The game changes which cores it uses each time you start it up. Maybe I just got lucky today?

I mean it looks great and runs superbly now.

In my own experience. Nvidia's Adaptive Vsync works really well with DCS. It gives a noticeable improvement smoothing out a lower frame rate when turning your head
