Metal Hawk Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 For those of you that are about to buy a new joystick you might want to wait a bit. Saitek released a trailer for a new "Advanced Control Flight System" as they call it. The X-55. They don't say if it will be a HOTAS but we will know soon enough.
karambiatos Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 could be an X-65 but with none of that force sensing mumbo jumbo? A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things
cichlidfan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Well one person was really impressed by a video that is all flash and no substance. Is this the news we’re waiting for, is this the news we where hoping for or is this the ultimate Saitek joystick, the X 55 Mach? There’s not much know about it but the provided YouTube video is smashing. Just check out this YouTube link and fell in love with this, on the horizon, ultimate Saitek X 55 Mach joystick. http://asn.aerosoft.com/?p=25390#respond ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! jay43 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Well from what you can see it just looks like a re-vamped x-52 Eagles may soar high but weasel's don't get sucked into jet engines. mmaruda Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Why not? I used the X-52 for 3 years and was happy with it, now someone else is very happy with it.
Scarecrow Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Strange thing is if its a HOTAS normally they would feature the throttle in the vid but I saw no throttle? Maybe a entry-mid level stick?
Abburo Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Whatever it is, it is spring loaded ... so, no force feedback ! Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
DD_Crash Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Whatever it is, it is spring loaded ... so, no force feedback ! THIS. I really hoped that someone would pick up the ball that Logitch dropped. Oh well I have bought a Warthog :)

aaron886 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Fortunately, they've kindly highlighted the inclusion of the TERRIBLE "spring-and-plate" design that makes the X-52 line such garbage for precision flying. Thanks for making sure I know to ignore this product, Saitek. Always a pleasure.
DD_Crash Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 If you want one, I suggest that you wait a couple of months after its released. I bought an X52 as soon as it came out and there was the "dead zone" issue that took some time to get sorted. I bought a G940 as soon as it came out and that had issues with the throttle cable and the "reversal" bug. Even the Warthog had some problems so get lots of info from OWNERS not just reviews ;)
karambiatos Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Do not buy saitek guys !! then i hope you can afford me a Mamba joystick, since it seems like it the only one worth buying. NeF Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 You'll spend more money replacing your broken saitek :]
Mainstay Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 X65 owner myself and a former X52 user. Spring system is absolute garbage. So if the X55 uses that ignore it and dont waiste your money. Ended up buying a X65 after and loving it. X52 was not worth the money.

BHawthorne Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Yep, it's more spring system garbage. You can see it in the video.

4c Hajduk Veljko Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I can not say anything about X-55, but for the money X-52 and X-52pro are just fine. Dudikoff Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) You'll spend more money replacing your broken saitek :] Replacing a broken Saitek? Besides CH (which seems to be a reliable choice, but I'm too shallow to get over its look and feel), which company would you recommend then whose products don't break? BTW, not saying that Saitek's are brake prone as I've had Saitek X36, X52 Pro, the rudders and the X65 and none of those broke down, though I'm not a heavy user. Also have a G940 which is around or below Saitek's mid level of products (I'd consider X52 Pro a mid-level offering compared to X65) in terms of confidence inspired by materials used. Have an unused TM Cougar, too, but IMHO it's unusable at stock level (and supposedly its gimbals seem to grind themselves down with use) and the mods are too expensive to bother. If I run into an affordable Warthog, I might try it, but the recurring stories of dead throttle units don't really help. SFAL Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I have a g940 too. Had yhe throtle spike problem had the wireing replaced with more durrable cables. Also removed the washer and small rod in the middle of throtle grip. Yes it has the plastic feel to it and at present the FFB simulitaion is broken it still better than anything i tried. This is a personal view. If you fly helos its a must. If you fly jets it handy to feel the stall limit. If/when the ffb buv is sorted. I know that the pedals will have the same problem as the throtle. I just have the wire replaced as well.
Pyroflash Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I've owned three Saitek products throughout the years. An X-65F, an X-52, and my beloved pedals. Both the X-52 and X-65F are in working order, though I have since given away my X-65F now that I have a warthog. The ONLY problem that I have ever had with any of their products is with the rudder pedals. After nearly two years of daily use, the right rudder pot failed on me. I am far too lazy to fix it. Actually, now that I think about it.. Does anyone here know how to fix such things? I'd really appreciate some help here. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Flying Penguin Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 You'll spend more money replacing your broken saitek :] Well I think 6 years use (and still going strong) from my X52 Pro represents quite good value for money, especially when you consider the design life of electronic goods in that price range seems to be about 2 years.... Or I could have paid twice the money* for a Warthog... *and technically had to wait another 3 years, if I'm being picky....
