xaoslaad Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Unless this changes between now and then all tracking will need to be done through the forums. Setting up something like bugzilla will just add another layer of work. Basically you will submit your bugs and a Tester or Dev will acknowledge and submit that bug. I would hope that we will take it a step further and acknowledge when a fix is coming, but I dont know how it will all work right now. At least that is how I understand it right now... Ya, I didn't mean to say it would be a 5 minute change, but there is obviously a lot of energy around pointing out imperfections and some of that could probably be a little more effectively directed.

Seems like there are very friendly people here.. :music_whistling: I just thought I could show some enthusiasm about all the exciting changes in 1.2.7. I'll probably go back not paying attention again. Thanks.

SFAL Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Great stuff still adding new item on the list. I cant see any removed which is good news. A good while back the ATC was mentioned to be upgraded. I like to see that with patch no2/3 If there is any chance ED can we have the datalink bugs cleaned up and get AWACS functions on hotkeys that can be maped to the HOTAS? Im sure they have their hands full. Hope to see these realize. Thanks!

Whew, because this is one of my favorite simulations of all time, and I am extremely excited that it's being updated at all, let alone this often. You are right, I do want it to come out when it's done, but on the other hand I can't wait to get my hands on a lot of these changes.

tietze Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 So, what will people do when their issue in a public bug tracker is not assigned/updated/whatevered? Same as they do now, but the difference is that the bug is acknowledged. That assumes the bugtracker is moderated and maintained. Which requires work and making public priorities and possibly technicalities that needs explanation. It is a service that could benefit both or no-one depending on how it is implemented and used. I do not think ED wins anything in the long run by keeping silent or do what might look like obfuscating what is going on behind the curtain. But that is a question of strategy. Where do you want your users, testers, developers and what role do/should they play for your software? What kind of commitment? But if the bug is not going to be fixed anyway there is of course no reason to have a public bugtracker! Please fix the KA-50 bugs :-) Black Shark: Controller profile & setup, TrackIR profile, pit. GGTharos Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I wouldn't necessarily be thinking of it in terms of a bug not being fixed, but that can happen also - there are priorities. So, next thing you know - There are bugs that don't get acknowledged or updated for whatever reason (and they may or may not be being worked on) - There are bugs that may be acknowledged but not being worked on, very low priority or scheduled for another phase of the project that ED isn't going to talk about until it's time, including revealing its existence - There are things that people want to call bugs but are there 'by design' So it doesn't just come down to whether us (unpaid, BTW) moderators can deal with the increased work, but also other factors that can cause issues. I suppose that one way to deal with things is to just ban people from the open beta tracker if they end up doing counter-productive things. Anyway ... back on topic I think, this sort of discussion probably merits its own thread. A public bug tracking system will not silence the discussion and remove every problem interfacing users, forums, testers and developers. It will be another tool to interact with users, govern bug fixing and perform strategical communication. In that regard when mentioning a bug tracking system requires work and maintenance I was just pointing out that it would require resources and prioritization from ED, not just increase work load for moderators. ... and yes, OT again... :pilotfly: Please fix the KA-50 bugs :-) Black Shark: Controller profile & setup, TrackIR profile, pit. Psyrixx Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 For those in the open beta, how is it coming along? The open beta hasn't been released yet. Once it has been released, anyone and everyone who is willing to participate can download it, install it and test it. The preliminary changelog in the Official Updates subforum is a constantly updated forum post that details what they have finished and flagged as going to be in the open beta once it is released, hence the word "preliminary" before changelog. This thread is simply a discussion thread about various fixes/updates that have been posted in the Official Updates thread. :) Robert Sogomonian | Psyrixx website| e-mail | blog | youtube | twitter
joey45 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Nice updated preliminary change log changes* * Wags, not sure if intentional but you deleted the *info bit at the bottom of the change log..... Love the Mi8 changes. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Psyrixx Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Since the original forum post was just for v1.2.7 (before they made it an open beta), and subsequently it has been mentioned that it will be a completely separate install with a completely new SaveGames/Config directory, your controls will not need to be reset because they will be brand new! So perhaps that is why the asterixed info was remove from the preliminary changelog =) Robert Sogomonian | Psyrixx website| e-mail | blog | youtube | twitter
